  1. Yes, the janitor in my building has been in the same position for over 30 years so I guess I should admire his stability. Lucky guy.
  2. Could it be because they were not smart enough to fix their name back when we had the '88 name change?
  3. They sound a bit unproven, but they certainly do have some size. Hopefully, they'll overlook us for Presbyterian.
  4. Sorry to hear. I was wondering why I haven't seen his posts in awhile. God Bless.
  5. Slowly but surely, I think word is starting to get out to many about what we have going academically up in Denton. I went to a family reunion in Fort Worth the other day, and most of the people there were UT and TCU graduates. Several of them talked (with a little surprise) about all of the good things they have been hearing about UNT. I think those signs around town could have been done a little better, but maybe they are opening people's eyes up a bit in regard to what we have in degree programs and such. Now if we can just get football and basketball to kick some butt simultaneously, maybe that wall of apathy and indifference can finally begin to crumble.
  6. We really need that Rice win to give us some confidence (and crowd support) early on. Last year could have been a very different season if we hadn't blown the Ohio game the way we did. I sure hope these guys have had a good offseason, because we need them sharp from the get go, and the get go is almost here.
  7. Dallas Diamonds. Maybe we would win if we copied their unis?
  8. Don't remember Stradford as a JC transfer, nor do I take a few other things in that article as Gospel, But I am ready for the season to begin with a butt kicking of some Clemsonites! Have we decided to hijack the B-Ball forum until kickoff?
  9. OK, in honor of the young guys, how about "I'm 18" by Alice Cooper for our intro, and "What's That Smell" by Skynyrd for the opponent's intro? Oh sorry, that's ANCIENT white guy's music.
  10. If there were no other option to round out the 12, I might give Missouri State a look over San Marcos or San Antonio. They're not too far from Jonesboro or Middleboro, and not that bad of a drive from here. You would think that Missouri is a big enough state to support two FBS schools.
  11. Better, but it's a tough call on who to slide into spot #6. If I had to choose between San Marcos and San Antonio I would choose San Antonio. Unfortunately, for now that would require them to suit up their intramural team.
  12. There are always a bunch of "ifs" around here, but if we can somehow find a defensive line that can get penetration, if the physical talent we have in the secondary actually uses that talent to tackle and cover, and if the QB position comes through in a big way, then we could very well have a pretty good team! Oh, and I cannot leave out special teams and coaching either. There, I finally made a post that had nothing to do with realignment.
  13. I hate to mention the evil wannabe empire down off of Central Expressway, but Fry and the leaders on that campus were not exactly pen pals back in those days. A whole lot of bad blood was flowing over an incident or two, and I think that may have hurt our SWC ambitions more than anything.
  14. Average (with NT/Boise included) = 20,380,000, so we are certainly not horribly below average.
  15. All pure speculation because there are clearly no FBS possibilities out west. If they are able to expand east, I don't really think that more than one or possibly two of those teams would end up in the WAC in the near-term. Regardless, the SBC isn't going to lose their entry level football status anytime soon no matter what happens with the WAC. A soon to be FBS South Alabama and future FBS Texas schools among others will see to that.
  16. So you're saying that the SBC would shun our advances should the WAC implode after our admittance? That would be surprising, but if that did happen, I wouldn't mind going independent for a few years if our program is playing at a high level should that implosion occur. I think playing as a successful independent would make us more attractive to USA or a new regional conference than we would be as successful SBC members. Just my opinion of course, and I'm finally burned out on realignment talk so you can carry the issue for now.
  17. And what are the 1AA entrant numbers of the WAC vs. the SBC? I think that tells the story. Personally, I would like you guys and others to join us in the move. Maybe the powers that be will be a little more open to the idea this time around.
  18. We all have to grow up and leave the safety of our childhood home eventually. Well, at least most of us.
  19. I agree that two year window sounds about right. This year is crucial, and I hope we can pull off something significant to the upside.
  20. I'm not one who wants to hang out with San Marcos or San Antonio. Let them pay their dues in entry level while we move on to hopefully greener pastures. Successful or not, I think we've paid our entry level dues by now. Besides, if we are successful in the WAC, we would have at least some say as to who gets in or not. Roll the dice while we have the chance.
  21. Yes, we still have a life raft or two if the ship does sink.
  22. Yep. Those guys had the right combination of guts, luck, and location to move up. Everyone in the SBC came from 1AA but LA-LA.
  23. 2012 & 2014 they get home games against the Aggies and our two stadiums will soon be similar in size. I guess visits from the biggest traveling Big 12 schools should not be out of the question for us either. Or are those games scheduled for Jerry World?
  24. I guess in that scenario we go independent ourselves, or we come back home to the safety of our perpetual entry level position. For a variety of reasons independence didn't work out last time with Hayden, but it might be worth a try again if all else fails. TCU was very proactive and mobile after the SWC breakup and they seem to be doing OK these days.
  25. Exactly. It would certainly take some good fortune, but if we could somehow put together a couple of very good seasons in the SBC/WAC, we might get some very serious consideration as the Froggies MWC partner. Don't see that as very likely coming straight out of the SBC. W's and attendance numbers are obviously very important from here on out. Dodge needs to pull a rabbit out of his hat THIS season.
