  1. I like the suggestion of a good year, but 2-20 the last 5 years in the SBC? Uh, funny math there since we've (pitifully) won 7 games in the SBC over the past 5 years. You would think that he would have at least known that 22 conference games over 5 years is a bit low. Of course I won't mention how badly he also erred in the loss column.
  2. Ridiculous. I guess we can now set our target to someday pass the renowned Utah Valley University. That list is a joke.
  3. Hmmm...I'm definitely a fan of RV so I'm not really trying to bash him, but depending on what happens this season, he did possibly hire and retain the worst wins vs. losses coach in the history of our school for 4 seasons. I'm not so much griping about the hire, but griping about the free rein he gave him in moving nearly the entire SLC staff up to Denton and such. If this turnaround does happen (as I expect), then maybe I would vote for a Villareal Stadium approach, but for now I've got to go for something simple along the lines of Mean Green Stadium.
  4. Ditto on that. Didn't know Santiago was quite that big. Hope he's ready for a very special Senior season.
  5. I'll go wih Baylor because of the rare "big-time college football" atmosphere we had for that game. Didn't hurt that we dominated the game either.
  6. Damn, I'm just happy because we have a large amount of people here who truly seem to care! I hope the best man wins the job, but let us all grab ten friends and take them to the Rice game regardless of the first week results. I'm honestly pretty excited about our prospects this season.
  7. Didn't he graduate from SLC in December and enroll here in the following January?
  8. Interesting to see that they have Kevin Steele as their DC. Hopefully there will be some coaches vs. players fisticuffs during the game that will disrupt their defensive continuity.
  9. Glad to hear that. Hate to see a speed merchant grow six inches in 6 months and turn into a gangly uncoordinated snail.
  10. The respect for Middle surprises me a bit as well. I'm also a little surprised at the 22 for us. Thought it would be a little closer to 30. Shows that we are a bit of an unknown quantity to some this season.
  11. The Rice game was extremely painful because we honestly looked like we were a high school team vs. the BCS champion. They could have easily beat us by 100. Ditto goes for the last OU game.
  12. 13-0 or maybe 0-12? I just don't know. Ever since day one of the Dodge era, my crystal ball has been seriously fogged up in regard to this team. Turnaround or more of the same? We shall see soon enough, but I do think we'll be able to put a lot of points on the board if we can somehow hold on to the ball and have at least average special teams. How well the defense will perform this year is something that I am totally clueless about, but I think my predictive abilities will start to improve after the first two games.
  13. If we could have figured out how to beat Pan Am we would have had quite a record that season.
  14. I think Houston is a great choice. A lot of people in that city do not even know we exist, and a win in that game could put us on the map for many. They will likely have a rookie at QB, while we will hopefully have a reasonably seasoned and talented QB in Thompson, to go along with an experienced receiving corp and a Heisman candidate at RB. Hopefully, they'll bring at least 5k up from Houston to add to the atmosphere. If we can just get that defense up to a top 75 level, I suspect we'll at least be competitive.
  15. On the subject of baseball, how come every school in the state of any size (smu doesn't count) can manage to afford baseball but we cannot? The northern suburbs of the Metroplex have some of the best baseball talent in the country, and that makes it even more important that we field a team. Recognition in many areas is what we need, and that area of recognition could possibly come very quickly.
  16. Baseball, baseball, and more baseball. Btw, did someone slip a Viagra in my coffee, or have we changed our color from green to blue?
  17. May God bless you and your family through this difficult time.
  18. Everyone has been screaming for a tougher schedule and it looks like we've got one. Luckily, we look like were going to have one of the toughest teams we've ever had to go along with it. Great opportunity for an at large berth if necessary.
  19. At LEAST 2 high profile wins, plus beating everyone else on their schedule by 30+ points might give someone a chance, but fat chance in the near future IMO. I guess an incredible Heisman type athlete who tears it up against everyone would help the uphill cause. I mean, if we went 12-0 this year, and Dunbar ran for 2000+ yards, does anyone really think we would get a BCS Bowl? At least it's something to think about.
  20. A bowl game would be great, but I guess I'll go with Clemson since I'm looking for the most immediate football gratification possible. Besides, if we're good enough to win at Clemson, it would be hard to imagine us not having a good season. Unless of course we decide to play hot potato with the football again this year after the opener.
  21. History could repeat itself by our continuing to miss out on opportunities for advancement. And yes, I've been to both El Paso and San Antonio, as I have lived in both cities for extended periods of time. How about you? And yes again, UTSA has trouble getting coverage in the San Antonio media, but maybe that has something to do with the fact that they do not even have a football team and play other sports in a mediocre conference? Or did UTSA surreptitiously create a FBS program while no one was watching? Btw, thanks for your Chamber of Commerce speech on the qualities of San Antonio. I never would have known they had such things.
  22. We get 25k in the seats and boxes, and they get 15k standing room and grass. Works for me!
  23. Trinity is non-scholarship Division 3, and let's not forget how El Paso has jumped up and supported UTEP football in recent years. UT-SA is nothing now, but they are a threat. That is one reason why we need to move up in any way we can. Sometimes I just get tired of watching history repeat itself.
  24. Anyone heard a number on how many that we will actually be able to stuff into the new stadium? There will be a lot of PO'ed Okies if only 15K of them are selected for the short drive south. Considering the proximity to each other, I guess I can only dream of the day that we come up with a winning program and have our own version of The Red River Rivalry. Unfortunately, it may be a stretch to think that it will happen in my lifetime.
