  1. Neal, Jones, Mosley and Brown were all in the 2-Deep, so I guess saying ten starters is stretching it a bit although they all were likely to get significant playing time.
  2. I really hope they reconsider who starts at QB. Baine may prove to be worthy as the backup of the future, and I really cannot say the same about Riley at this point. Besides, any more injuries at receiver and we're going to need a healthy Riley at the slot position.
  3. :huh:It must be the curse of DD.
  4. Bring on Joe Avezzano. Unfortunately, his D1 record was 6-47 which sounds kind of similar to you know who's.
  5. Baine. He's healthy and should know the offense by now. The only way I see Riley as a viable option would be if we ran the option, but unfortunately he probably wouldn't last a half.
  6. I'm hearing some pretty strong rumblings that Briles is out at Baylor unless he really comes up with some conference wins this year. I think he would be a good fit in Denton.
  7. A lot of good thoughts, and I agree with most of them. Particularly the adjustments of getting some more beef on the outside to contend with the power of Army's option, and getting DeLoach in there working on special teams. I'd be careful about what starters I utilized on special teams at this point though.
  8. Micah Mosley. He may or may not be out for the year, but he is a very important part of the team when you consider that are Special Teams aren't exactly special. Knocking on wood furiously when I say this, but we are only one injury away from being pretty thin at Mosley's former starting position, and if something were to happen to our newbie under center, it looks like we could possibly turn into more of a run first team.
  9. VIRTUALLY everyone knows that lack of proper training and conditioning can be contributing factors to players having a rash of injuries early in a season. I don't think anyone is conclusively blaming the coaching staff, but how these guys were prepared for the season is certainly something to consider. If you must have some authoritative literature on the subject, here is a brief article on ACL injuries. Try Google if you need a few thousand more resources on the subject. http://www.synergy-athletics.com/effective-strength-training/why-young-athletes-tear-acls/
  10. A rash of season ending injuries early on often means conditioning problems (not Tune), so is that the case here or is this just stinking bad luck? Hopefully it is just a combo of bad luck and these guys going all out to win a football game.
  11. OK, if you must have a name, bring back Hayden. He was seemingly willing to give it a short-term shot with Baylor not too awfully long ago, and he is a Hell of a lot younger than Paterno. Give him a call RV!
  12. ANOTHER UT QB with no experience? Me thinks not! :angry:At least we tend to hire people with head coaching experience at the high school level. Personally, I hope the next year's coach is TD because that would mean that we have turned this depressing thing around. Some people just have a very L O N G and stubborn learning curve, and hopefully his is something like 38 games.
  13. We should not have punted on our next to last possession. Going for it was the only option IMO when you look at our past history and the likelihood that we could have held them to a FG at most if we had failed. Hindsight is always 20-20, but I was screaming for them to go for it when I KNEW from experience what was about to transpire. When your special teams suck, you've got to be a gambler Mr. Dodge!
  14. :rolleyes:Only if they allow the OU ten year eligibility rule to be resurrected.
  15. I could dump on a lot of things related to coaching tonight, but the only thing I will say is that it is truly pathetic that we have not even been able to build something akin to a "D1AA" special team group in Dodge's 4th year. Truly pathetic.
  16. I agree. Great crowd. If we regularly played schools that the students and area fans were familiar with, we could fill up 40K on a regular basis. That is of course if we could somehow find a way to win these games, and had a 40k stadium for them to fill . But seriously, I was very impressed with the crowd tonight, I was very impressed with certain aspects of our team, but I am pissed as Hell that we could not find a way to get two more points. I feel positive change in the wind, but the scoreboard shows the same old same old. Oh well, I'm used to it, and we have 10 (OR ELEVEN) more games left to change that same old same old. Get well Mr. Nathan. You hung in there like a champ, and let us hope and pray that your (and many others) sacrifices will lead us to turning this thing around!
  17. With his quick feet, maybe he can kick? Oh that's right, we can't talk about that yet since we were two for two through the uprights, and only had one of our three kickoffs go out of bounds.
  18. Agreed. No runup there. The most inept game I've ever seen on our part, and I've seen a lot of them. Regardless, let's pluck some Owls!
  19. I'm a native Houstonian as well (my older brother dated Yeoman's daughter who lived around the corner), and I remember the vacant Astrodome games as well, but from what I have seen lately they have garnered quite a bit more support over the past 5 years or so. Unlike us thus far, they seem to find the MAJOR donors (Robertson/Moores etc), so I wouldn't rule it out that they can find the financing. The only thing holding them back is location.
  20. I want to see Riley on the field on a regular basis, but no way in Hell would I want him as a return guy or as a DB. I liked a guy with similar size and speed named Zach Muzzy, but he had a body of steel compared to Riley's, and he went down for the count in short order. I would really prefer that he stick with playing at the slot to do his best to avoid more injury.
  21. Yes, you will be able to say this about more games this year, but the Rice game on Saturday is likely the one that will decide Dodge's job. If you count the K-State game as a loss (which I certainly don't), then we will have to go 7-2 the rest of the way for us to get our seven wins if we lose tomorrow. A pretty tall order. On the other hand, if we go 6-6 with a home finale victory against K-State, I suspect he will keep his job. We shall see.
  22. I'll be in Conroe at gametime, so if you really want to be with me that badly you're welcome to drive on up.
  23. They all want a piece of that recruiting territory.
  24. Micah Mosley/Jeremy Mathis
  25. Tell him to sit out this year and transfer. Since we've already had two of Lance's backups go down this year, we could always use another for Lance's Senior year.
