MGB: UNT opens spring tomorrow, sked, policy for attending
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Time for a rebellion from the common Mean Green man? Do enough exist? -
All the savings would go to AD extensions so what's the point.

TCU Hires Pitt's Jamie Dixon

We could hire a better coach than we currently have for 100K. This has gone WAY beyond ridiculous. -
Not fair. I counted 17 in the finale.

MGB: Benford says he will be back, confident in future
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Hey, Vito said that we made the second round. Ain't that good? Think I'll avoid being around sharp objects for the next year. Unbelievable. I hate fixing things, but.... -
Thank God We're not in the SLC or SBC

They were all huge wins, and even though I love the conference aspect of MTSU, SFA over WV has a little more regional David/Goliath appeal to me. We'll see how they all followup. Same goes for the beautiful Northern Iowa win. -
You've got my vote. I'm tired of being a fan of schools I have no affiliation with.
-
We would be 2-30. Nice win SFA, and how about giving us your coach?
-
Man, Mich. State was about as close as it gets to being a #1 seed. Hope this trend continues tonight, because I don't recall this many lower seeds knocking off this many higher seeds in the 1st round. Why is it that we can never compete with the big boys like so many others can? Oh that's right, we've covered that in several other threads. Nice win for the conference.
-
Holding 'em off.
-
Helluva an effort. I wouldn't count them out against Duke either.
-
It's all about attitude and thinking that we can be as good as anyone with dedicated effort. No more "it's tough to win (or recruit) at North Texas" crap.

A house was burning in my neighborhood a few weeks ago, and as a group of us were standing there watching, some guy I didn't know looked at my Mean Green cup and started giggling. People even find reason to laugh at us while their neighbor's house is burning down. I normally would have responded strongly to the punk, but I obviously have no Mean Green ammunition. It has gotten that bad.

MGB: Littrell talks QB race heading into spring
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
If you're not wearing the correct shoes the calculations can get complicated. But you know about all that. -
FAU needs to hire a professional smu head counter ASAP. I'm only an amateur head counter and I could do better than 872.

MGB: Littrell talks QB race heading into spring
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I actually agree with every word of that article, including the not so subtle hint that Shanbour isn't really six feet tall. I have no problem with that at all, at least until someone does the "stand next to test" and reports that he's actually a dwarf. -
Who will be our backup QB this season?
foutsrouts replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, I guess we could think more toward the future and get him prepared enough to live and fight well another day, or we could roll the dice and throw him to the wolves right off the bat. Glad I don't have to make that decision. -

15-20 pounds of weight gain isn't an unreasonable expectation over the next year and a half for a guy his size. If he's as slippery as a bar of soap in a prison shower I guess his current size doesn't matter as much, but if not, things could potentially get pretty ugly without some D1 muscle. -
10-20 without the two TOTAL training wheel games, and 1-12 on the road with that monumental victory at utsa. This guy is just not going to get any better no matter who is on the team.
-
I just hope that he doesn't have to make that adjustment this year at 170 pounds, since high speed collisions with very fast 240 pound linebackers are inevitable. Not to mention fast DE's who outweigh him by 50% or more. Sure there are some cat quick receivers, corners, and return specialists who can make it at that size, but it's not a great idea IMO for a position that has a target on his back on nearly every play. Hopefully he has a year and a half to grow into this level.

After reading this thread, I plan on entering the campaign as an Independent, and truly believe that I will become the next President of the United States. Or maybe I've just had too many Heinekens.

MGB: UNT's options dwindle as Smith departs
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Smith was our safety net and now we have none. Or at least not one with any PT. I'm starting to warm up to Shanbour for assuming that role. He's got some years on him, and unlike Fine, he's currently got a D1 football body as far as weight is concerned. Maturity and arm strength can mean everything in this kind of system, and I sure hope to get a much better look at him this spring. -
No news is good news, so we just have to learn to sit back and enjoy those quiet moments.
-
But at least he has been out there, and could run well and take a shot. Hate to be doom and gloom, but I thought the position was hanging by a string before, and now I find myself praying that Littrell/Harrell are miracle workers. I hope that Chumley proves his detractors wrong and becomes a viable backup this year. Otherwise it's looking like Means to me.
