  1. I thought he would go big and start Riley at the point.
  2. Or Trent Johnson?
  3. Nice. Wish we could hold our own early season tourney at the Super Pit. Invite regional teams like OU, TCU, UTA, SFA and LA Tech. Screw smu if they're too scared to come. We don't really need their two dozen fans.
  4. Probably cuddling up to him because he wants him to replace Stoops after we win the BCS Title Game.
  5. A little headline pub from ESPN. http://sports.espn.g...tory?id=5866534
  6. Fantastic! Really eases the uncertainty that many had in regard to this hire. We've got our offensive guy to go along with our defensive guy. Love the continuity and that the players should be happy. Thanks for the great news!
  7. "Joe Greene has decided to come out of retirement to assist us in recruiting and coaching our DL."
  8. The dude from Mayberry?
  9. And who are the low majors? If you've got a mid, don't you have to have a high and a low too?
  10. The nice TD pass to Stradford in the endzone with 5 minutes left against Troy looked to be well over 40 yards in the air. Kind of surprised me.
  11. If an intact Western USA spot looks unlikely, I'd love to see a Eastern MWC consisting of Houston, NT, NM, CSU, AF, and Wyoming. Oh well, it never hurts to dream. .
  12. It is amazing. We're not talking about the same stability situation that we had with the WAC, and I suspect that we would be joined by at least one more TX team if we were somehow to get an offer. Although I would love to have a tight regional conference, I could deal with the travel situation in the MWC. Three schools within close reach of Denver would make for a fun trip on occasion, and Albuquerque isn't too far out of range either. I wonder how many people on this board actually take road trips to SBC destinations east of LA and AR anyway? My guess would be very few.
  13. Win football games, continue to build and hopefully make a big splash in our basketball program (including women's), start a baseball program ASAP, and find a new conference home that puts us a half notch closer to the big boys.
  14. Jamario was incredible as a freshman, and a great contributor afterwards, but unfortunately he was pretty much a flash in the pan. Great game against a slow CU defense, and I'm pretty sure that today's SBC is better overall against the run than what he and Cobbs faced back then. Of course we have to wait and see what happens in '11, but at the moment I would rank our most recent backs in the order of Dunbar, Cobbs, and Thomas. Of course we could toss in guys from the past like Eric Pegram, Bernard Jackson (an unfortunate flash in the pan), Abner Haynes and others for consideration, but I think I'll still stick with the guy who's doing it for us in the present.
  15. Yes. No brainer. Besides, it is VERY unlikely that we would be the only Texas area team invited to that league, so USA would have less appeal regardless.
  16. As far as consistency and injury avoidance I would say yes. That wasn't an early 2000's SBC defense that he faced last Saturday. Hopeful that next season will be even better.
  17. I'm a bit underwhelmed, but I will grin and bear it. As unfair as it may be, for what it's worth I'm not going to give him 3 or 4 years in my mind. I want to see at least SOME kind of positive results next year. Hope he's up to the task. Best of luck to Chico.
  18. Arrested for having a disorderly house? With all of that wealth, you would think that she could afford a maid. Hope she doesn't end up following Daddy to NT. We've had enough wild child problems around here.
  19. didn't know Alonzo Horton was still eligible?
  20. More and more I'm starting to warm up to the idea of keeping Canales. I like his enthusiasm and knowledge of the game, and I get the impression that the players like and respect him. Not saying that I want the priority of this hire to be all about money, but we could probably get him for TD money and use the excess to beef up his supporting staff. One year of continuity is better than nothing at this point, and although I'm not exactly happy with the status quo around here, starting over from scratch again and seeing a brand new guy go 3-4 years with no results is a scary thought. Franchione is the only heavily discussed viable candidate on this board that I might put ahead of Canales. McCarney just doesn't do it for me.
  21. Damn. Where's that hidden gem out there who can join us at mid-semester and stroke the three? We really need some consistent production from the perimeter. Hopefully TT will keep it up and Josh/Dom can find their shot. It would be nice if we can get a blowout win ASAP so that we can see what our deep depth can do.
  22. He seems to know his role and he's damn good at it. Lucky that we have him another year.
  23. He looked pretty good defensively (especially in the press) during crunch time, but I really want to see more offensive effort and production from him down low. He was a track guy in high school, and was advertised as having something like a 42 inch vertical, so athleticism should not be a problem with him playing around the rim. Guess he just needs to get the right mindset to match his abilities.
  24. and Cam Spencer as well.
  25. What's the logic behind USA and the WAC not being included in the secondary category known as "Mid-Major"? Other than Memphis, I really don't see the programs in those two conferences as being superior.
