  1. :lol:I guess we can blame this one on Knox. Very nice win, and I guess we have to say "in JJ we trust" until proven otherwise. His teams tend to be slow starters, so we may just have more to look forward to than most of us really expected, After we take care of the Panhandlers, we could be looking at 13-2 before we go on the road in conference play. We have a chance to have a truly ridiculous record this year if things keep looking up. Most everyone looked good tonight.
  2. Sux. This was a game I really wanted to see one way or another. Guess Hank will have to suffice.
  3. Southland #16 Big West #20 Hmmm...kinda makes you wonder. Need to win manana!
  4. I definitely like getting a 3 year guy with a full season starting under his belt. Looks like we're setup for quite a QB battle. Wonder how Thompson is healing up?
  5. Not going to speculate on whether or not it's possible at this point, but if we are able to beat a football monster like Alabama , and have a 0, 1, or 2 loss season, we could go a long way toward changing perceptions in one season. Realistically though, I suspect it would take at least two to three seasons of great football before anyone on the national level would even begin to speak of us in the same breath as teams like Boise and TCU. A spectacular individual performance by someone like Mr. Dunbar wouldn't hurt the cause much either.
  6. Sure hope it's not Shorter, since we already are going to have 3 of our top 8 walking at least a bit wounded into Baton Rouge on Wednesday. Add Alzee and Cam to the equation and we're talking 5 out of our top 10 being less than healthy. Knock on wood, but I sure hope the ghost of Theron hasn't sent his swan song curse slithering across the parking lot to The Super Pit.
  7. The TD hire initially generated increased interest in the program that may have helped us in the stadium campaign as well as in attendance in relation to our record, it brought us his son who will hopefully be with us for two more years, and it eventually brought us Chico. Other than that, no I don't have the stones to say that the TD hire was great.
  8. It's only useful if you forget to get gas in El Paso.
  9. Very young yet very promising group to go along with what I would guess to be Jordan Williams starting at the three, Hogans starting at the four, and a mystery man to be named later starting at the five. At least I would hope that Hogans will be at the four instead of the five. Hope we hear something in regard to a big guy soon, unless of course we think Knox is ready to be promoted to main man status down low next season . Too bad Mr. Morgan decided not to follow his father and get some PT, instead of opting to go somewhere where he looks to be stuck in twelve minute per game land (at best) for the duration. Don't see him passing up the guys ahead of him at Baylor since most of them will likely be back for his Senior year in '11. Dennis may fare a bit better since he is only a Soph, but if early PT means anything to him, he should have followed his bro to Denton. http://espn.go.com/m...39/baylor-bears
  10. I guess we have a base, because we've had well over 350 students at every game this year.
  11. Wow. I hope FAU doesn't smu those stats. If they do, their crowd is pretty much down to press row and cheerleaders. Or are they the one that ditched cheerleaders?
  12. Maybe we can talk El Centro College into fielding a team and joining our conference too? We would certainly save on travel costs.
  13. Nice site. So who other than George and Kendrick has the size and athleticism to give us those sorely needed offensive rebounds?
  14. Won't be an easy game. They throw some pretty big guards at you, including their leading scorer who is 6'8" and can shoot. Could create some matchup problems for our 5'8"ers. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/roster/_/id/2296/jackson-state-tigers
  15. Well, I guess when you are 120th in offense and average 15 points a game it is understandable. Amazing that they kept their HC after throwing out two 1-11's in a row. Guess he had to dump someone.
  16. Don't get why Knox is really even in the conversation, much less always being made the scapegoat by some for our bad games. He only played 7 minutes, and I really don't see how his 1 point, 1 rebound, and 2 fouls cost us the game. There is plenty of blame to go around, but In 22 minutes Holmen and Edwards got a grand total of 3 rebounds, and 2 of those 3 boards were offensive putbacks by Edwards on one possession when he scored his only bucket. That definitely needs to change. Anyone know if Edwards' knees are chronic, or if there is some hope that he can get healthy before too long? We could definitely use Spencer down low, but I have to wonder what kind of game shape he would be in even if he was available this weekend. We sure seem to be awfully secretive with the injury updates this year.
  17. No, we are not a great team, but we still have the potential to be a very good team. Let's not forget that Sam is pretty good. To be a very good team, we have to shoot lights out from the land of three, we need TT to be the go to guy and score his twenty+ per game, and we need more contributions from Holmen and Edwards. It is really that simple in my opinion. We have to outscore our opponents because we are obviously very limited in our ability to stop high powered offenses. Hogans improvement has been a gift this year, but a couple of our guys are probably maxed out as far as their ability to help us become a much better team this year. Tough loss, but I hope some of these things come together in the second half like they have in the past. We can still go to LSU 9-2 and pull off a big win.
  18. If Rainey were a Senior I could MAYBE see their justification since these things always give you a few extra points for being a Senior, but but based on pure production and team conribution, picking Rainey over Lance is absolutely ridiculous. On the other hand, having three out of eleven first teamers on offense is pretty nice when considering our record. Pleasantly surprised that Olen got second team when you consider his very slow start and lack of contribution until late in the season. Nobody can argue about Mr. Robertson's great year.
  19. DD and TD pulled in some pretty nice players from the easily accessible plains north of Denton, and hopefully this hire will help us grab a few badly needed corn fed biguns from that area ASAP. Nice hire.
  20. Robinson is a great signee, but it would be shocking for a AA player out of West Texas to make a major contribution in his Freshman year. Robinson, Holmen, and Edwards seem to have the mindsets of small forwards, so If that doesn't change pretty quickly, I'm afraid we'll be in deep trouble next year without a tough guy down low to complement Hogans. Hope JJ already has someone in mind.
  21. The troll claims to be an expert on football in the State of Iowa, yet he doesn't even know how many schools play "D1A" (FBS) football there. Worthless nonsense.
  22. And don't forget Helwig, Trilli, Hurley, mattress salesmen, short QB's, yellow shirts, crickets, urinal walls, and any high school coach with an ambition to move up to the college level.
  23. Hogans has got a lot of Dennis Rodman in him plus he brings more offensively. Great to have him this year, and a gift to have him back next year when you consider the apparent softness of our returning bigs. Nice win. Sam Houston is`a huge game when you consider that it could possibly begin the process of setting us up for a 10-1 record going into Baton Rouge. A lot of ifs and buts, but we win at LSU, we take care of Panhandler State, we win our first two tough SBC home games, and we're looking at 14-1 before we go on the road in conference. One little top 25 vote at 14-1? It would be surprising, but it would be sweet!
  24. That's a pretty subjective topic regardless of how many bribes are handed out. The managing partner at my firm is an smu graduate, and he tells me that he believes UNT has the second best business school in the state behind only UT. I think I'll take his word over someone who bangs stangs for a living.
  25. A little OT, but does anyone know if Thomas Gipson (Cedar Hill/K-State signee) is the son of our Texas transfer Thomas Gipson of 20 years ago? I got an invite to the Cedar Hill vs. HP game tonight and hear that he's a monster in the paint. If he is related, I hope we keep an eye on him just in case he decides that he prefers the North Texas area over the lonely fields of grain.
