  1. You would expect more out of this veteran team on the road, but I still think we have a more than even chance of pulling off the tourney championship at a neutral site. On the other hand, an injury to just one of our top 7 players could make things difficult.
  2. On a positive note, good to see Holmen showing some consistently serious improvement. Last year and earlier this year he seemed to pretty much stand around and wait for an open jumpshot. Now he really seems to be in the flow of the game on both ends. His extra minutes didn't win us the game tonight, but I hope he continues to get more minutes and that JJ can figure out the right mix out there ASAP. We need his size and athleticism on the court if he can keep this improvement up.
  3. Agreed. We're still yet to play the better teams in what is generally considered to be a terrible conference. Certainly have not given up on us having a great year, but we're more than a bit on the short and shallow side, and it's hard to teach height and depth. Those two factors seem to be hurting us badly defensively IMO. Does't help much that we were the favorites this year and are on everybody's radar.
  4. Gracias. High scoring game. Hope Walton keeps nailing 'em. We're likely gonna need a veteran 3 point guy to emerge next year.
  5. Too bad we don't have at least one of our big guns back next year to provide some veteran stability, but on the other hand I think at least 3 of our newbies are about ready for primetime. This year's gonna be fun at the very least, but next year I have no doubt that The Pit will be seriously rockin with some very serious young guns! Nice job JJ!
  6. I'm getting kntu for both links. Sure hope Walton picks up his 3 %'s tonight. It's been worse than ugly lately.
  7. Wow. Deja Vu of the Fab Five 20 years ago. Now if we could just turn Robinson into a center...
  8. \ Agree a million percent. No old Southland/1st year football teams. Make them earn their keep wherever they can. NMSU and LA Tech to round out the dirty dozen.
  9. I'm more worried about us getting a seed PERIOD at this point. Other than our win against a mediocre LSU team, we just haven't been a good road team at all thus far. That better change soon if we want to play after Hot Springs.
  10. Yeah, I was looking at his almost non-existent stats a few days ago and was thinking that maybe we didn't lose quiteas much as I had thought. Looks like they are starting to give him more minutes and he is responding. Too bad he left us thin. Kinda like the Riley situation with all the injuries, except that we gave him a free ride for 4 years instead of 3.
  11. That's gotta hurt. I hear it's less painful when done in early childhood.
  12. I think Simon is HC at a Catholic high school.
  13. Around12% and growing according to Nielson, so the networks are missing out on a significant (yet poorer) audience. Much higher percentage in Texas and other heavily Hispanic states. Comcast is doing their best to start the trend of getting rid of free OTA TV altogether which I think sux.
  14. Total speculation of course, but the mention of Welker in that article makes me suspicious that he could be more like 5'8" 175 ala the Riley exagerration. If he were close to 6' 200 with those kind of speed, strength, and production numbers, you would think everyone would be all over him. Personally, I don't care if he is Welker's size coming out of high school. He can obviously run and catch the ball, so bring him on for a look coach!
  15. Kind of crossed my mind as well. Sounds like a good fit, and probably would be a good position for him to go for in an attempt to pick up the pieces after his debacle here.
  16. Didn't watch the game, but I guess we've got to bitch about something when we lose, so I'll start by saying that TT getting a total of ONE board with very cold shooting stats in 40 minutes of PT is pretty depressing. Statwise, Knox getting back to his fouling ways in 9 minutes of PT doesn't look so hot either. Tough loss in what apparently is a pretty tough place for us to play.
  17. It's not like he died or got cut from the team. He decided he didn't want to be around us voluntarily. New picture please.

  19. The return of don't ask don't tell?
  20. Too bad. I was hoping to see if he could develop into a quality receiver over the next couple of seasons. Guessing that he was told QB was no longer in his future around here. Would be interesting if he and Dad are co-shopping themselves as a QB/OC combo to one of those FCS schools. Wish him luck, but I think it would have been mutually beneficial if he would have finished what he started and gone the FBS WR route in Denton. Hate to lose him as a future Mean Green alumnus, and I guess his departure will officially close the door on our strong SLC connection and cost us a few hundred fans over the next couple of years. Oh well.
  21. wouldn't that be a 6th year since he sat out a smu transfer year?
  22. Yeah, I really didn't get the Knucklehead Knox Knockers. His quick transformation from a foul every 3 minutes to a foul every 10-15 minutes has really been amazing. He actually looks to play with a bit of a swagger now instead of like a scared kid. If he learns that quickly in other aspects of his game, and puts on a few more pounds for his Junior year, we could have a real player on our hands down the road. Glad he's getting some serious minutes now, because we sure saw what a lack of length can do to you against teams like KState and Kansas. Sure hope we find another big man, but suddenly a rotation down low next season of Knox, Hogans, Holmen, Edwards, and Robinson doesn't look so bad now.
  23. Also, between '98 & '08 Sam Houston apparently only averaged 4.5 home games a year. Poor Bearcats.
  24. I don't see a listing for Knox going for 9 pts, 7 boards, and perfect from the stripe while only commiting two fouls, so I went with Coach McCarney.
