  1. I don't mind so much playing the Big 12 on the road, but I've about had my fill of these SEC games. Unless of course we can schedule a Vandy team which hasn't been too bad themselves in recent years. That conference has just got too much all-around speed (among other things) for us to deal with at this point in time.
  2. Last I checked, seven states still have some varying method of becoming a lawyer without graduating from law school. I think they're all on the left or right coast, and that none of them are in the South other than Virginia. My grandfather was a Texas lawyer without spending a day in law school many moons ago, and my dad got a military exemption from having to take the Texas Bar Exam after graduation. Things aren't quite so easy these days.
  3. I like the MWC as well. The recent revival of Houston and smu (in FB) has helped USA a bit, but for the most part I'm just really not all that impressed with that conference. Guess we need to start kicking some butt in The Belt before any realignment talk means squat.
  4. If our defense turns out to be surprisingly good (to most), I don't see us getting drubbed by Houston. If we can stay healthy, I'm thinking more and more that our back seven are going to be very special this year. I'm just hoping that our front four can do the job.
  5. Probably my best childhood friend ended up being an All-American athlete at UH, so I guess I'll go with BEATING HOUSTON TO OPEN THE STADIUM!!!! Beating Indiana wouldn't be too bad either.
  6. Nice writeup. We'll be in good shape if McCoy can just match those 341 tackes he had last year. Riley didn't sneak off from Lake Charles to Tulsa when nobody was looking did he?
  7. Way to go Big George. Put off that accounting career as long as humanly possible.
  8. Dan Fouts Field? Sure would simplify things for me.
  9. Don't forget San Beaumont. LOL!!
  10. Yeah, BU is "BUM", SMU is "SMUT", CU is "CU#" (rhymes with BUM), UT is S#UT (rhymes with HUT), whatever. Me thinks we should have more confidence in ourselves rather than worry about such things.
  11. I agree that it's not a huge deal, and I do like being called North Texas, but I certainly wouldn't mind our slipping the "UNT" reference into our marketing more than we do currently. If say we are in the Sweet Sixteen (or a major bowl) and the UNT logo is prevalent, I think it would be great if the national media consistently referred to us as UNT. It would be nice if people on the national level were to at least have the option of picking up that reference and running with it.
  12. Was it the only junkyard in Florida, were they on foot, or are they the dumbest duo since Beavis and Butthead? Geez...
  13. But once we start winning on a consistent basis AS UNT, wouldn't "UNT" be more likely to stick in their heads? Just a thought.
  14. What's wrong with calling TSUSM by their actual name? The real TSU has been located in Houston for many decades. I agree that it's time to push the "UNT" branding name over "NT" or simply "North Texas". It may take awhile before the acronym gets recognized nationally, but we might as well just bite the bullet now and start shoving it down the media's collective throats. If some ignorant child wants to put a "C" in front of our name it won't bother me a bit.
  15. Maybe we need hockey and ski teams? Sure helped Denver.
  16. I was standing in the endzone directly above where Cash caught that ball, and the previous call on the other side of the endzone was MUCH worse. I don't remember who caught the first ball, but he appeared to be a yard or more out of bounds when he caught it. Total and complete obvious cheat, and that ref would likely be fired if he tried that these days, because if I remember correctly, he had a totally clear and open view of the play. Even my UT friend started laughing and rolling his eyes on that one.
  17. I love offensive rebounders. Hope he earned more minutes.
  18. Interesting article, and it sounds good to me, except that I've been thinking that our DB's are going to be one of the strong points of our defense this year. Also, I figure the Cougars are going to be pretty strong this year, but to say that they might go undefeated sounds like a bit of a stretch to me. Of course I can throw out a dozen or so "ifs" in relation to our performance this year, but If McCarney can work that magic with the DL this year I'm looking for a surprisingly good defensive unit. Two months and counting.
  19. Then please stop degrading the "Eagleness" of our present and past by saying erroneous things such as that our female teams are NOT called the Lady Eagles. It's kind of nice that we have something unique going on here with our moniker. Obvious facts are not something that should be argued, so let us close this case.
  20. Based on the endzone design, I would guess either Wingstop or Krispy Kreme Stadium. What's the deal with that funky looking bird on th 50 yard line anyway? Is it a chicken or what? KFC Stadium?
  21. You sure? Somebody better call the athletic department and the NT Daily ASAP, because it looks like they haven't yet gotten the memo and are even calling the tennis team Lady Eagles. http://www.ntdaily.com/?p=50067
  22. Apparently someone neglected to tell the stadium architects that we are no longer Eagles. What do we call the women's basketball team now? The LadyMeangreeners?
  23. I almost caught that damn field goal. Very deflating loss.
  24. 32-8 after the first quarter. That's what you call getting smoked. First game jitters I hope.
