  1. We probably either get the shaft by ending up with some kind of conglomeration of SBC and WAC teams, or preferably, we end up grouped with some conglomeration of USA and SBC teams. On the other hand, who the Hell knows.
  2. One possible wildcard in this is TCU. If Missouri is in fact leaving along with the Aggies, would TCU and Houston be enough to keep the Big 12 together? TCU has never been shy about playing musical conferences in a heartbeat, and maybe they'll finally realize that they aren't located on the Eastern Seaboard or in the Rocky Mountains.
  3. I concur. I'll be a little jealous of Houston, but I'll take their USA spot in a flash. If this all moves quickly, we'll have to knock their newly acquired big heads down to size come September 10th.
  4. Anyone have an idea how many we can squeeze in when we schedule a big name opponent at home? I hope as many as 35K.
  5. I agree. After the separation, we could bitch, scream, and sue until we get a national championship game featuring the winner of the haves vs. the winner of the have nots. Kind of like the old arrogant NFL against the old lowly AFL where Namath and the AFL proved they were worthy on the field. Screw the BCS.
  6. Now if everyone would just gang up and wrestle away UT's control of the Permanent Fund maybe they would lose a little of their cockiness. Unfortunately, we would need the Aggies votes and they aren't likely to support a constitutional amendment that would dilute their 1/3 share. That amendment giving those two total control should be ruled unconstitutional.
  7. Nice pickup. We needed a pure shooting guard to complement the guys we have coming in this year and hopefully Pye can fill that role. I was hoping that Forte would be coming to Denton to kind of fill that role, but with Kansas now in the offer picture we're probably a longshot. Now let's find us a couple of biggins. ,
  8. Great hire, and great to have an alum in that position. Me thinks the sleeping giant has decided that it's time to get out of bed.
  9. Excellent news. What the Cowboys can't do in Arlington we can do up in Denton at the "Apogee" of the Metroplex. Hell, last I heard the Rangers are getting 2.5 million a year from Ameriquest and we're getting a million from Apogee. Not bad if you ask me. My crystal balls are sensing a baseball stadium in our very near future.
  10. 40 Shades of Green by Johnny Cash? Appropriate?
  11. Watching that clip kinda reminds me of a Houston area private school I attended for two years in junior high which no longer exists. For a few weeks in August, we actually had almost non-stop hard hitting three a days, which is likely the reason that we were never scored on in 7th grade, and went undefeated in 8th grade. Those coaches would probably be locked up these days for what they put us through, but it's refreshing to see the new staff bringing physicality back to Denton. Hard hitting rough stuff drills in August can pay off down the road.
  12. Looks like WKU and FAU are starting a feeder program for their basketball teams. For our sake, I hope Dodge took his scales with him when he left. Our big guys are doing pretty well in the size department if those weights are true. Of course that assumes we're in good overall shape this time around, and from what I've seen most of our linemen don't appear to have a major overhanging gut problem. The only place on paper where we look a little small is at LB, but at least we have two guys back there who look to be potential All-Conference material.
  13. With our history, wings would be worth at least one leg injury per Saturday. Nice looking bird, and looks to be a great new tradition.
  14. Great to have a couple of big-time locally raised brothers to build that OL around. Wonder if Boone decided to come on board after hearing that cousin Pat had been chosen to open up the new stadium?
  15. They've been delusional ever since their name change. Nothing new.
  16. If Alzee has been working hard on improving his outside shot, then I would definitely see him starting at either the one or two. If not, I suspect we'll have new guys at both positions. Of course Walton's shooting numbers are pretty suspect as well, so I guess that JJ's going to have a lot of tough personnel decisions to make this year.
  17. If we can pull off the opener at FIU, just imagine the momentum that we'll have heading into the stadium opener against the Cougars. If we stay healthy and get over a likely rough Saturday at Bama, this could turn out to be a special season. On the other hand, if we don't win the opener we could be in for a rough start.
  18. He tried his best to play at Missouri but the NCAA would not let him. Now if you consider him a quitter for leaving The Center of Life Academy in Florida for Pinkston then we are talking an entirely different story.
  19. After playing the nickname backwards, I became suspicious that he could be a spy from Tennessee.
  20. Who cares.
  21. Particularly in the college game, I'm not so sure that I agree with the Randy Newman philosophy. Especially since guys listed at six feet are generally shorter. http://www.herald-dispatch.com/sports/x2054110534/Short-QBs-seeing-a-resurgence-on-college-teams
  22. My mother was a tailor, Sewed my new blue jeans. My father was a gamblin' man. Down in New Orleans. Now the only thing a gambler needs is A suitcase and a trunk. And the only time he'll be satisfied Is when he's on a drunk. Think it depends on whose version you prefer.
  23. Lance and a veteran kicking game help us win the close ones. 8-5, but we need to win the first one against the Internationals.
  24. Not surprising, but I wish they would give us a couple of years to prove our worth before starting the next shuffle. Right now, Houston, smu, UTEP, MWC teams, and possibly even a "return to the region" TCU would have a leg up on us as far as any fantasy Big 12 entrance is concerned. We would be a perfect geographical fit to replace the Aggies, but somehow I suspect the Big 12 will totally fall apart without them. Who knows where Texas would go.
