Some more message board chatter has some posters claiming home court officiating? You have got to be kidding me, there were more than a few calls that went Tech's way tonight. White's incredible charge with his back to the player during a spin move comes to mind. Is it all that crazy to just give us credit because we proved we're better than you tonight?
-
Tech board is going ape shit. Not one post I have read has given us any credit, more so all of them losing it because they lost to little ol North Texas. A few have even resorted to talking about how KU is going to hammer us by 40 points to make themselves feel better. Ass Clowns Oh man this feels so good. Eat it Tech...

Best night of my life, my voice is shot. Incredible atmosphere, I fully believe with the way Edwards, Holmen and Jacobs played tonight we can expect a big season. What a game.

I've only been apart of two court/field rushing occasions, but I don't really think so. We need to act like we have been there before, which we have. They aren't a top 25 team, then again, if we win and the students have a good time doing it, why not?

Wasn't there 4500 for the OSU game? I was there and remember seeing a lot of orange, still a lot of green too. I hope you guys are right, but OSU was the most people I have seen in the pit and I don't see 7k showing up, that is a lot and will have people sitting up top.
-
Hope I'm wrong, but I really don't see more than 4500 or 5k at the max.

Win and he's in. Simple as that, one more victory next week and the job is his, IMO. Two things concern me though, lack of recruiting pipelines in TX, and if DeLoach is indeed leaving after this season. I'm really curious to see who he could bring in(and retain) in terms of assistant coaches. I am worried about getting a new DC and potentially changing schemes, although, with the lack of DT depth, I think we'll be switching to the 3-4 next season regardless. AK, Obi, Phillips and Prior on the outside with Orr inside sounds good to me though. We still have secondary problems to deal with, and who knows, the 3-4 might be perfect for 360 pound Abbe. Not sure how he will pan out, but with that weight alone, he'd be good to clog up the middle. We are going to have to sign 2 or 3 JUCO DT's who knows if we'll get as lucky as we got with Shavod and Kelvin. The new coach will have his hands full trying to replace those guys, sure wish we could find another Booger somewhere, the drop-off in DL talent from that time to now has been remarkable. Hoping to sign these guys. Tony Gillespie Offers from WKU, UNT Ronnell Wright Offers from UNT, Ark. St, Wash. St Josh Thompson Offers from CSU, LT, UNT, Ohio, USM, Troy, UAB

Calm down you two. It's a meaningless game. Let's see how they play Tuesday. I personally thought Edwards played a decent game, if he can pick up the slack on defense and rebound, the other 4 can score points. I think we'll be fine, it's too early to come to these conclusions. Besides the one on Knox, dude needs to gain another 20 pounds, he's too lanky, reminds me of Shawn Bradley.

Watching the TT/ULM game right now and I have got to say, with lots of experience listening to some small time high school football broadcasts in my day, these guys take the cake as the most retarted redneck announcers I have ever heard, and this is basketball. Every time something remotely good happens for Tech dude yells Stanford-Cal band on the field style. I was hoping they would crush ULM which would be better for us, but also happy to see our belt brothers playing well. We need all the RPI help we can get.

Alright, if there were really only 3100 there today, then I stick by my claim that there was probably 1000 and some change at the scrimmage if not less. Scrappy and the dancing floor sweeping guy were cracking me up. Liked the play out of Hogans and Edwards today, I think I saw where Edwards went 2 for 10 and that alarms me, but those two can rebound and defend and if they can do that solidly I'll be happy. Dom is going to be a nightmare for opposing defenses, when Tristan, White, and Dom are playing, it is going to be really tough for defenses to stop. One thing that I did not like is the fact that Odufuwa has been out hustled by two big men from Ark-Mon and HSU. There were times when the rebound should have been his and he just got outworked for the loose ball down low. White's play so far concerns me a little, but I think it's natural as this whole team is just trying to get used to each other and figure out each others game once again. I sure hope we really do pack the pit on Tuesday. The banners being raised plus the crowd and energy should be electric for the night and align the stars just right for a mean green victory. I don't understand how 9k alumni can show up for the football games, but not the basketball games. I am just hoping that was because most were at work. Anything less than 6k I will be disappointed.

Unt Exhibition Game Wed Free On M G Premium
ntmeangreen11 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Exactly. It still blows my mind that they don't promote the games more around campus. Put me a charge and there would be a banner posted in every room, every hallway, every bathroom, I'd try to talk to the professors and tell them to remind the students if possible, so many more things that can be done. If this team can get off to a winning start or even steal a game at Kansas I think that will bring the fans in by itself. -

I was in the student section, there's no way there was more than 2 or 3 hundred of us. I am hoping more people didn't show because it was an exhibition. I think a lot of that 2100 was pre-sold tickets. With all the cars in the parking lot, I was elated and thought it was going to be packed, but it was just students at night class. Then again I am not the best at estimating crowds, I almost always lowball it. I freeball too... -

It sure didn't look it. I thought there was no more than 1000. It really looked pitiful to me. However I did hear a lot of chatter about the upcoming Tech game. I am going to be upset with anything less than 5k. I'm going to bring atleast ten with me, and believe it or not it's pretty hard to convince my fellow students to be as excited and passionate about UNT as I am. As for the game, it was a really, really sluggish effort as said above. There were times when Odofuwa just got out hustled and then when the they were within 5 towards the end of the game it looked like he stepped his effort up. Still, White only had two points, and this is only one game, so I will give them a pass. Shorter was tremendous and this team can hit the three, that is for sure. Once this team hits a stride and starts working Odofuwa in to the mix as well as Tristan they're going to be scary good. Also, I don't think people gave enough credit to this Ark-Mon. team, they were pretty good for a D2/3 team or whatever they play in. Regardless it baffles me how a school with 37k+ students can't show up to the basketball games, even when we are this good. Basketball needs a culture change, big time. I know I'll be at every game. -
After watching the game last night, I have moved Canales from #5 on my list to #2. If he wins at splits the MT/ULM games and then has a decent showing against K-State, I fully believe he will be the guy for the job. What I saw last night was remarkable. We had the ball at midfield with a chance to beat Troy, not A-State or UL-Lafayette. If not for an unneccessary chop block, we could have easily won that game. Add to that the players out and the fact that we're playing with a QB who's arm is less than potent, it's truly astounding what took place last night, granted Troy is a little down this year, still given the circumstances that was a gutsy performance and I am excited for the future. The only area of concern I have is what type of assistants he would bring in. We need to retain a couple of coaches already on staff and upgrade at others. O-line is one area that comes to mind, and the guys he needs to bring in need to have skins on the wall, and have ties in Texas. There's no doubt this guys is a great motivator, a great guy, and knows x's and o's with the best of them. Here's my list. 1-Leavitt 2-Canales 3-Bower

Seriously? I hope this is not another mock post, and even though it's just a friendly scrimmage, if that actually happened I am even more excited about basketball season this year.

What Should The Fans Expect From Canales
ntmeangreen11 replied to UNT Mean Green's topic in Mean Green Football
If he wins today, I will put him as my #1 regardless. A win today would be huge for the future of this program, especially considering we'll be playing across 35 next season. -
We don't have 15 starters out. Pretty sure it is 9 or less. We might have 15 players out for here, I'm just a little tired of the injuries being repetitively blamed for our record.
-
Is there any way I can watch a replay of the WKU game online, I had no idea it was on TV, and would like to be able to watch a victory for once.
-
I look at it this way, most people don't want him here, but at bare minimum, we'll have Jeff Bower, and the dude went to 10 bowls in 11 seasons, and I can easily support a guy with a track record like that. I think we'll be able to get someone even better than him, and if we don't I will still be very, very excited for next season. Bower runs a run heavy offense, I have been dieing to see what Lance can do running from under center 25-30 times a game. Dude also has a stingy defense, regardless I will support, but I really like that the person some people don't want here is a very, very successful coach who did it at a program in the same mold as ours.
-
From another forum I frequent... "I'm hearing Jeff Bower really wants the North Texas job and has a decent chance of getting it. The North Texas AD was an assistant AD at Southern Miss when Bower was there and the two have a good relationship."
-
Dodge is gone Monday I hope. Honestly, why wait, doesn't need to drag on any longer, new coach needs time to focus on recruiting. I still don't see how there could be any kind of argument against hiring Jeff Bower. I sure hope he would be interested, wouldn't take him long to establish a good recruiting pipeline here and he already has loads of pipelines in the Miss/Ala/Ga/FL area anyways. Here is his record. What Will The Attendance Be Next Week?
ntmeangreen11 replied to KingDL1's topic in Mean Green Football
The only reason we had a somewhat decent student turnout is because they had won last week. This is twice they have shown up to see us lose by a point, and 80% including myself left shortly after halftime. I can guarantee you we won't even see half of that this Sat. and I would somewhere between 8-11k. There might be a lot more announced, but I am not at all optimistic for the student side turnout. -
I nominate Daniel Prior as player of the week. He played great and had some amazing blocks to spring Hamilton and Dunbar. For having one week to switch positions, he did fantastic. Guy really can block
