  1. Two things that stick out to me about this kid so far, and keep in mind these are his junior highlights, are that he needs to keep the ball under control when running and not in one hand out wildly, and that he could potentially blow up the entire sun belt. Maybe an overreaction, but he appears to have a very high potential. One negative is as soon as you google his name there's articles about an assault, missing practices, and some pretty offputting quotes. However, I'm not judging the kid, and would love to have him here, hopefully he'll use the way the KU media portrayed him as ammo and blow up the belt in green.

  4. Wow, what a difference a day makes. I'm excited about the starting five, I just wish we had a true PF that way TM could play his natural position and dominate. 1- Chris Jones 2- Alzee Williams 3- Jordan Williams/Jacob Holmen 4- Tony Mitchell 5- John Odoh As good as the starting five looks, this bench will be deep Brandon Walton, Roger Franklin, Jacob Holmen/J Williams, Justin Patton, Niko, F. Robinson/Trey Norris(probably won't see much time) and Overlander. Best team we've ever had?
  5. With news coming out this week that MWC/CUSA officials have visited or are going to visit Utah State, Louisiana Tech, UTSA & SJSU and literally nothing mentioned about North Texas, am I the only one getting closer to the realization that the sun belt will be our conference forever? I am trying not to get discouraged, but it's disheartening to see every one of these schools beat writers have a new update or article everyday with sources, and we have nothing. If our conference mates will be Troy, FAU, ULM, ULL and ASU for the foreseeable future, I don't see how we're supposed to grow interest in our athletic program. A conference slate of Tulsa, UTEP, Rice, La Tech, Tulane plus the series with SMU coming up would give us a legitimate chance to establish ourselves as a real football program, build interest among locals, and give the university more exposure. Not just a directional school SEC schools pay to beat up on. Please tell me I'm not the only one growing more worried. Where there's smoke there's fire, the aforementioned schools have had visits, and we have had Tulane AD come by the stadium to get ideas for their future stadium. That's it. What happened to the rumor from the SBC tourney that "North Texas was as good as gone"? that was posted on an obscure message board I have never even heard of? I hate to say this, but I feel like if we don't get in the stadiums will be for waste, the stadium is a top class facility, and we're in a low class conference. We need this now more than ever, we cannot be left behind. All we read about is how the alliance is trying to work out the legal issues at this point, but clearly they're close to deciding who they want to invite if they haven't already. How come our fan base is the only one in the dark?
  6. How feeble can a mind be if it's only joy is to go on internet football forums and trash a university out of spite? I've never really paid attention to him, but from his posts I gather that we suck, and he wants us to know that we suck. As for the topic, $288,000,000.00 away from Teir 1. I don't think that's going to happen in the next ten years.
  7. I tried to tell people from the beginning, he will not see playing time here. Boone, on the other hand, has a very good chance to do so. I was disappointed too to be honest, but you guys have to understand even Rivals can be wrong they're not perfect, and Cam never deserved to be a 4* player. He blocked 180 pound DE's in 2A high school and hasn't been able to adjust to guys his size. Interesting thing I see is Hilbert Jackson starting at corner, and DQ Johnson behind him. Maybe I'm wrong, but that scares me a lot. I didn't see much from Jackson last season, maybe someone else has better insight, but I was hoping for DQ Johnson to at least be an average SBC corner. I'm really excited to see what Freddie Warner, Laramie Lee, and Kerry Swarn can do over the next 3 years.
  8. The schedule is very favorable despite the fact that the OOC is horrible. If only we could switch 2013's OOC with this year we could win 10 games. I think 5 wins should be expected, 6 would be good, and 7 being the ceiling. I think 6 wins is highly probable, but we could drop a game or two we shouldn't. We'll see how RB looks in the spring. Sept. 1 -- at LSU (Loss) 0 - 1 Sept. 8 -- Texas Southern (Win) 1 - 1 Sept. 15 -- at Kansas State (Loss) 1 - 2 Sept. 22 -- Troy* (Win) 2 - 2 Sept. 29 -- at Florida Atlantic* (Win) 3 - 2 Oct. 6 -- at Houston (Loss) 3 - 3 Oct. 16 -- Louisiana-Lafayette* (Loss) 3 - 4 Oct. 27 -- at Middle Tennessee* (Win) 4 - 4 Nov. 3 -- Arkansas State* (Homecoming) (Loss) 4 - 5 Nov. 10 -- South Alabama* (Win) 5 - 5 Nov. 17 -- at Louisiana-Monroe* (Win) 6 - 5 Nov. 24 -- at Western Kentucky* (Toss up) 7 - 5/6 - 6
  9. At least the majority of you guys have been fans for a couple decades(then again I'm glad I never experienced 1-AA football) I became a fan in 2004 when me and 4 or 5 buddies at the age of 14 went to NMSU homecoming game. We sat in the south endzone and it changed me life. When I heard the crowd roar after Jonas Buckles(or Knowlton can't really remember) put that hit on the WR during that game it sealed the deal for me, I knew I'd be a fan for life. That was 2004, so I only got to experience one really good year. It's been pretty bad since then, but I've missed maybe 4(football) home games since then. My support will never waver. Only 1 of my buddies that went with me is still a die hard, but regardless we're destined for great things. If you look at the facilities, coaches and young talent we have in place the next two or three years could be pretty special for both basketball and football. I know everyone is heartbroken. My reaction last night @8 PM was to turn tv off, immediately shut off all lights, and go to sleep. Earliest I've been to bed in a long time. But spring ball will be here in no time, and for now the best thing to do is keep your mind off of it and try not to let it affect your mood. The mean green will live on. Tony will be back, along with CJ/JW and this team dances(and bowls) next season.
  10. Through process of elimination, I think the OL was Alex Riley There's a lot of players from Martin on the rivals page, how many of them realistically are FBS players?
  11.   What exactly are you trying to accomplish with this thread on a mean green football forum? http://www.leap.com
  12. It's not possibly, it's fact. It takes .1 of a gram of meth to get you high. It takes 2 grams of (brick)weed to get you high. So you are partially right in that way more weed comes here than meth, but that's because drug users are 80% potheads 10% pill poppers and 10% meth/coke/heroin users. The only people who smoke mexi-bud are old people set in their ways or broke young people. The weed people prefer to smoke is from California. It is grown cleaner, isn't compressed, and is a lot stronger as well as not being sprayed with harmful insecticides. This form of weed(high grade) is much better for you, and can be used for a longer duration by patients. Legalizing it would have a huge effect on the cartels because they wouldn't be able to produce the quality marijuana the United States produces. They throw 10,000+ plus seeds on a plot, grow them for 6 months, and send it this way, it's cheap and people smoke it for that reason. If it's legalized, the stronger cleaner weed will be mass produced, thus driving the price down of the "good stuff" and the cartels and their shitty weed will struggle to put out a product people here would want to ingest. And the theme is, if you stopped spending billions trying to eradicate weed, you could spend your resources on stopping the drugs that actually ruin peoples lives. Coke, heroin, and meth.
  13. Oh really? So they switched from coke to meth and that just made them start murdering people at an unprecedented rate? It wouldn't have to do with the war for control of the drug trade or anything? Nah, it's because all those damn illegals start putting meth in their veins daily instead of coke, thanks for clearing that up for me man.
  14. So many of you are so wrong on so many accounts I don't even know where to start. Weed is 60-70 percent of cartels profits because the demand for weed, dirt weed albeit, is insane. You hear about 2 ton brick weed busts all the time in the news, the hard drugs, not as often. The cartels have 80% of the cocaine trade, but only 50% of the heroin trade where as they have 98% of the meth trade. I almost lost my own mother because the doctor thought she needed 4 valium a day and 4 10mg hydrocodons each day for her headaches. She smokes a joint a day now, takes no pills and is doing better than I have seen in ten years. I cannot believe that ANYONE would compare pharmaceutical drugs to marijuana. Marijuana won't make you pass out driving, marijuana won't butcher your liver, marijuana provides legitimate medical benefits to people with serious illnesses. What don't you people get? Also, I find it funny that the topic poster links 20+ marijuana death related topics. That's because it rarely happens, and when it does, it's huge news to everyone. "Drunk driver kills family of 4" just don't seem to interest the people. No, they'd rather rationalize their own opinions on a substance they've been told their whole life to hate, yet they have never even tried so don't know what it does to you. How can you draw an opinion on something you've never tried? Do you just choose to ignore the fact that the reason marijuana was prohibited in the first place was because the big wigs saw the benefits of hemp(which cannot get you high BTW) and how it would put their companies out of business and made sure everyone in the country knew hemp & marijuana were not to be used? There's plenty of people in this country who abuse marijuana and alcohol, however, I would much rather have anyone smoking weed than drinking. "Man, those stoners just piss me off so much, thinkin they can legalize this medicine for people with AIDS and cancer and other physical ailments who would like a medicine that doesn't make them pass out 30 mins after taking it and doesn't destroy your liver or give you other horrible side effects, those damn drug users, ain't worth NOTHIN! It makes me so mad I'm gonna go on a forum and link all marijuana related deaths, even the ones with alcohol involved, so people will know just how much I believed in DARE when I grew up." Here ya go, I can do it to. Drunk driver kills 2 Drunk driver kills cop Man, I was going to spend my time putting drunk driving deaths links here but then I realized you'll never change these peoples minds. I just want you people to know, I'm not in favor of full legalization, but it has medical benefits that I have seen first hand and whether you like it or not, your type of people are dieing off. The old stubborn people who won't even accept scientific studies as evidence are fading, and the young people are growing older. I'd venture to say 60% of 18-22 year olds smoke weed, and they will be the voters of the future. I also know 98% of the people against marijuana are bible thumpers. "And God said... I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. ..And to every beast of the earth.. I have given every green herb for meat... " Genesis 1:29-30 What say you to this, oh mighty people who know everything?
  15. Sneed was arrested Dec. 23rd this year for armed robbery, that probably explains why he's not going to school. He was released shortly after, maybe the kid can go the JUCO route and make some changes, but armed robbery is pretty horrible. My link
  16. How many times has North Texas been slighted by another school in our programs history because that program didn't want anything to do with us? It's about being cutthroat and sabotaging other schools. There are already 10 FBS schools in Texas. 85 scholly's/teamm =850 players over for years. Two more schools = 1020. I'm pretty sure Texas produces around 250 FBS signess a year or so, with about 100 of them signing out of state. It would make a lot more sense and be more beneficial to us if we're not alliance bound to take La. Tech & NMSU(Even though they're an outlier) two established programs that aren't in our state. If not scared of being passed up by either TSU or UTSA, but I don't want to even give them the chance, the same way SMU and other schools have done us over the years. It does us no good to try and start a rivalry in 2013 with two schools in South Texas we have little history with. They might be good replacements for the sun belt for us when we leave, but I do not care to share the same conference with these schools. They are not rivals, they will never be rivals, and I really hope they're never in the same sentence with North Texas. I hope the WAC dies off and they both try to make it independent, because that will result in both schools dropping back down in 3-4 years.
  17. Of course we'll know something official tomorrow, but it looks like Temple is in as #17, and it's down to UNT, FIU and LT as for the other spot. I have no source, just seems the ECU fans are more involved in this than others. From the same thread "There will be two teams added for 18 members Temple is in as long as they want in the other teams being looked at are North Texas La Tech and for whatever reason TX State. " Still not sure if the guy meant to put UTSA, but we have a shot, and another article today said "most" sun belt schools have expressed interest in joining CUSA. Of course, nothing is final, but if the big east takes one more school we should have a very good chance. What I don't get is how on earth does no one on this board have any info as to atleast whether or not we've talked to CUSA recently?
  18. None of us are consumed with SMU buddy, I don't know where you got that from. I'm only 21, and have been on message boards for 3 years or so now, and there's only two boards I never want to visit again. SMU's and Louisiana Techs. If you visit the frog board, they're usually way more complementary than yours. A big part of it for me is the 30/30 that I watched with your arrogant alums who refused to even adknowledge the wrongdoing. I understand that was a long time ago, but the egos I saw in that sealed the deal for me.
  19. Breyun Owens 6'3 290 South Grand Prairie offers from ULL, North Texas and NW St. Rivals #48 prospect of top 50 2013 DFW prospect on dallasmorningnews.com DMN 3* 87 grade, #42 player in state of Texas, #8 offensive guard in country on 247Sports
  20. I guess Mac believes he can take these 250 pound kids and make due at the DT position. I really hope their frames are capable of holding another 30 pounds and can still maintain their quickness. I like that both this kid as well as Sutton play with a mean streak, but given the fact that we only have 3 DT's on scholarship who can contribute next season, I don't know if I would have gone this route. We will be in a lot of trouble if Boutwell, Cantly or Abbe go down next season.
  21. In an article he also said that their facilities were honestly better. I just don't see how one comes to that conclusion. If anything, the two stadiums are about even.
  22. I sure hope so. Both him and Evans would round out a solid class. Evans is more of a risk, but if he works hard he could be a special player here, he certainly has the athleticism to do so. Maybe they're expecting a commit from Evans and giving Walling time to decide. I'm sure they either have another player in mind for that scholarship if Walling decides to change his commitment or a player they're planning to give a scholarship to. Even with losing Lafrance, Rice & potentially Walling, the coaches did a pretty decent job this year, and I trust their eye for D1 talent alot more than the previous staff.
  23. Offense(9) QB- None HB(2)- Mark Lewis, Rex Rollins TE- None WR(3)- Nick Schrapps, Roderick Lancaster, Christian Hines ATH(2)- Andrew Tucker, Carlos Harris OL(2)- Boone Feldt, Ryan Rentfro(Committed 1/21 per scout) Defense (10) DE(2)- Malik Dilonga, Brad Horton DT(2)- Sir Calvin Wallace, Dylan McDorman LB(2)- Dustin Clark, Jarrian Roberts CB(3)- David Busby, Dequarius Johnson, Xavier Kelly S(1)- Devante Davis With Je'rod Evans on campus this weekend you have to assume he'd be given one of the last two spots, this is tentative on Walling going to SMU. Rice has officialy changed to SMU and I expect Walling to do the same. If I missed anyone, please let me know and I'll update it, don't think I did though.
  24. 4900 in attendance (probably 3500 were students) got to see a great game, and I really think the first timers or people who aren't regulars will want to come back, that was an incredible game. Who knows what this team can do? If you look at it on paper, it's easy to say this season's over, but maybe Tony Mitchell has finally found his groove and is reaching his potential. And maybe if he can put up 30/15 a night(I know, unrealistic) we can win the SBC this year. You can see how much better this team would be with both Jones and Williams in there, I just hope they'll be back next year, because next year we'll have a legit tournament team.
