UNT Lands Denton Guyer CB John Schilleci
ntmeangreen11 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Wow I just put 2 & 2 together and realized I have a cousin who went to school with his older brother, I forgot that he had a little brother or maybe just had a temporary brain lapse. From what I hear, we got a really really good commitment here. This kids work ethic is apparently second to none.- 46 replies

UNT Lands Denton Guyer CB John Schilleci
ntmeangreen11 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Wow that hit at 0:21 on hudl made me jump out of my chair. We have beat out WSU & La Tech head to head for two players so far. These are the type of schools we need to be able to beat out for recruits and I'm glad we finally have our ducks in a row to be able to do so. I can only imagine the affect a 6-6 or 7-5 season + the conference change would have on kids in the area, this is shaping up to be a good year!- 46 replies

David Busby in coppell's citizens advocate
ntmeangreen11 replied to RossDrapalski's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know about you guys, but I think Busby, Warner(once he's healthy), Xavier Kelly, and Devante Davis will be a good group of secondary players for the CUSA level of competition. These guys actually had offers, I think by the time Warner is a senior, and these guys are juniors we'll have a secondary to be envied. -
This time of the year would be fine with me if it wasn't routinely 100 degrees.

UNT Spring Football Series: Linebackers
ntmeangreen11 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Mother of mercy I am so happy Stok is back, and wish I would have read this topic earlier. Stok, Orr, Wright, Phillips, Akkune, Polk will all make each other better with the LB competition this fall. He was a great player as a freshman and has a bright future.- 24 replies

"Lance has done a nice job for us so far," Garrett said. "He's a young back but he flashes at you really every day in practice. He has good quickness, burst and acceleration. "It's hard for us to tell, really with all our players, but with running backs maybe in particular until you get pads on. You don't see how they respond to the contact that is such a big part of this game and their game. But he's done a nice job picking things up." http://www.dallascow...9322482D7D54D62

2013 QB Dajon Williams - 6-3, 190 - Pflugerville Connally
ntmeangreen11 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
YES YES YES YES YES YES This guy was one of my top 3 players on the board at QB available to us. I hope he sticks to his commitment, because teams will be all over him if he has as good a year this year as last year. One thing I've noticed about recruiting websites, it's never about their ability, or the evaluators opinion of said recruit, it's about offers. Take Ryan Hoefield, center from La. for example, he was a 3* on scout, and until recently only had 6 offers from non AQ schools so they bumped him down to 2* then he picks up offers from Florida State & TCU last week and he gets bumped from #21 center, 2* to #6 center, 3*. Naturally, Dajon's ranking might go down on Rivals when they update their top 100. It doesn't take a professional scout to see this kid has the arm, size, speed and intelligence to be a great QB in CUSA.- 9 replies

If he would be eligible for 2013, it would be a big relief for me. Losing Power after this season is going to be a pretty big blow, I'm not sure the younger TE's we have on the roster will ever be as good of a blocker as Power is. Barnett would be at the very least a capable replacement from day one with a much higher ceiling.

2013 Commit #1 Sed Ellis OLB Paris HS 6'3 200lbs
ntmeangreen11 replied to All About UNT's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Hopefully this is the start to a solid recruiting class, haven't been able to find any video of the kid, but I like his size and speed. -
So he's making a decision sometime in the next 5 days? I think it's a win-win for everyone involved. Denton is close to his parents, they can come see him play, can also catch games @ UTEP and Tulsa quite easily. He'll also upgrade the position immediately where as at FIU it would be tough to surpass Medlock. I don't know about you guys, but when I envision this kid in Canales' offense I get giddy, he is the perfect QB for our system.

Thinking about UNT’s window of opportunity
ntmeangreen11 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
We can easily go 6-6 this season. We have to beat ULM, FAU, Troy, and MT again plus win the two games we should absolutely win against USA & Southern Tx. We would wind up 5-3 in conference and getting to skip FIU for USA will be huge. I don't get it when people say we could be better and wind up with a worse record than last year, we could actually go bowling despite how poor the wins will be. I haven't looked at the rest of the conferences schedules but everyone is skipping one opponent to play USA. We are fortunate enough to skip the best team in the conference. We also have both ULL & Ark St. at home, if we're on a roll and do the unthinkable(win more than 1 game in a row) I don't think that it would be difficult to get one of those games at Apogee. We have good enough players in the trenches to compete with the middle of the sun belt, whether or not we can go above that this season is up to the players.- 7 replies

2012 UNT player that most intrigues you?
ntmeangreen11 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Will Wright Wright will have to step up big time this season playing along side Jeremy Phillips and Zach Orr. Losing Stok hurt, the kid was beast plain and simply put, but Wright is probably more inclined in the passing game and more of a physical presence. He has the tools and the size to be a playmaker, he just hasn't shown it yet. Hopefully with another season to develop we'll start to see the front seven take over games, I think we'll have 4 all conference selections from the front seven. -
2013 QB Dajon Williams - 6-3, 190 - Pflugerville Connally
ntmeangreen11 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Dajon is currently #74 on the rivals Texas top 100, although they haven't rated him yet. Andrew Billings is 2 spots below and has over 20 offers, Dajon has the potential to blow up with a decent senior year. Would love to have him though, he looks solid.- 9 replies

Besides my horrible photoshop job, I think this would look incredible. Like someone else said, black will never happen given the past, but I still think this would look great with our current uniforms which I have no problem with.
-
I knew I would get negative rep for this, but it's obvious most of you agree with me. The current helmet isn't bad, but it's not great. I probably shouldn't have referred to it as an FCS helmet, but SOW on a green helmet heading in to CUSA would signify change. Change in that we don't have to have our name on our helmet, people know us by now. We're not FIU we've been playing football for 100 years and the simple text helmet makes us look small time. SOW is the best logo we have ever had, it's at midfield, why not use it?
-
Right, but when has Tulsa ever been called TU or UT? It's been 12 years they need to change
-
I know this is not a favorite topic and it rears it head every off season, but I recently saw the image below and noticed our helmet sticking out like a sore thumb. Not only does it not look right, but it looks amateurish/FCS to me. By now it should be known that we're North Texas, it doesn't need to be on our helmet. The SOW or interlocked NT would look so much better I don't see how they haven't made the switch already. Something needs to be done before the 2013 season. Every other CUSA school has their logo, school letters, or both on their helmets except us. I mean honestly I am 100% confident more people know who we are than ODU, UTSA, UNCC, UAB & FIU yet we have the FCS helmet? Something needs to be changed.

It looks likely at this point, they only listed 120 teams when there will be 124 or 125 this season. -
UTA - let's skip the "passing us by thread"

So.... On an average Friday night at 10 you're on UNT's football fan forum disputing academics. You sir are the one making it easy, get a freakin life. I can see why people don't want to be around you though, you're obsession with UNT and attempts to marginalize are hilarious IMO. Little man syndrome at its finest. -

I know being top 80 is nothing to be proud of, but I wonder what they see in us to have us ranked so highly after a 5-7 season. I see an improvement in the team, I just don't think it will be substantial. -
I'll take the over at 6 wins.
