  1. The negativity seeped in to me at halftime but I will remain positive until given a reason not to be. Morris is the real deal, we have multiple playmakers, defense be damned this is a bowl team at minimum. GMG!
  2. We have given up 2 touchdowns, 99 yards rushing on 17 carries that's 5.8 YPC and multiple explosive pass plays this is a carbon copy of last season, exact same.
  3. I am letting go of all negativity. There's 70 new players what the hell do I know? There's lot of things that go in to making a good FBS coach, only recently has how well does your team gel in one off season to the next vaulted to near the top, maybe Morris is one of the best at that. GMG! Expecting a win today.
  4. I personally think it's hilarious that you guys will willingly pay a quarter of a billion dollars to f*** yourself out of a playoff spot. There is a better chance of us miraculously having an 11 win season and making the playoffs than SMU being near the top of the ACC. #CJK5H.. It truly is pay to play over there in every sense you guys really are the biggest tricks in college football, the new Vanderbilt of the ACC, every P4 fans new favorite delusional punching bag. That was a masterclass performance in blowing a game. Players scared, coach bewildered, huge inexplicable passing plays on a shell shocked defense that reminded me of so many UNT games I've watched over the last 8 years.
  5. It's possible we win 8 games at our ceiling, sure, but there is no dimension that exists where we get there giving up only 17.5 PPG, that I just can't wrap my head around.
  6. These are unlockable ultimate team players you can get in a pack you have to pay for. JaDeveon Clowney is also an 87 there are only 13 players rated higher than 87 (highest being 90) none of which are DL to this date in ultimate team mode it's not really a slight to him at all.
  7. I am pessimistic about the season. Morris will be great at QB, running backs are a dime a dozen, as long as they aren't fumbling we're fine there. WR has a handful of guys who are pretty good proven players, none are Darden or Maclin, if Sheffield or J. Aaron contribute we're in decent shape. I remain extremely high on Hammond, I believe he will be one and done and move on to a P4 after this season he can play. It's a whole lot of unproven players behind him at TE. OL has a couple guys who are really good with tons of snaps in Blair and Duncan, some questions marks in the other spots. Coach Morris is a good to great playcaller, all this considered I think this offense can score 30 PPG if healthy and is our only shot at being over .500 I'm so lost as to how they shaped the defensive side of the ball after last season. We have entirely too many safeties too few cornerbacks and only after striking out with many transfers did we sign a few portal DL that were left over after 120 FBS teams filled up. The only way I see them having success (which would be to be a top 80 unit, absolute ceiling) would be luck AKA turnovers like the 2018 Mean Green, but that team actually had talent at every position. We gave up 5.7 yards per carry and 37 touchdowns on the ground and we are more or less rolling out the same front six. We signed 4 DL portal players and 2 portal LB while losing Mazin Richards and Olobwede to Memphis that is just inexcusable to me. Unless 4 or 5 of these guys make the most insane jumps from one season to the next we will again be a bottom ten unit. As has been the case for the last five years this team is entirely too young as well, doubling down on bringing back the DC, and tripling down on signing too many high school players is beyond me. Despite what people think we have an easy schedule all things considered. Memphis is probably better than Texas Tech who most would say is our toughest game and we don't have to go through our annual dog walking against SMU. I just don't see how we win more than 4 games against that schedule which is sad. I will be at the games but man I just don't see it with this team unless like I said above the offense scores 30+ PPG and we get some lucky breaks defensively because the talent is not there.
  8. We really signed 3 total defensive lineman out of the 24 transfers? Two of them were guys signed over the summer in true Littrell style. We have one of the highest paid G5 DC's and we are going to give up 35+ PPG easy.
  9. That's a pretty wild defeatist attitude from your head coach. Kind of explains why they won't even try with a certain level of prospect. I've been saying it since last year, the sooner we start cutting the football budget to add to the basketball budget the better off we will be. That is the only sport we have a chance to be nationally relevant in. We didn't capitalize on the sun belt championships, we didn't capitalize on the new stadium, we didn't capitalize on the conference change, we were a middling or below average team in a bottom 2 conference for most of the last 20 years, that window has closed. It's forever go mean green, but the (albeit far-fetched) dream is over.
  10. The same way Seth doubled and tripled down on high school recruiting, zigging when other FBS coaches were zagging, we have doubled and tripled down on our DC suddenly becoming competent and our front players making huge jumps in one off season. We were bottom ten in damn near every defensive metric related to the front last year and added a handful of players who in the best case scenario will somehow be players from day one at age of 18/19 and somehow not transfer at season end. We also lost a (undersized) DE who at least ranked highly in pass rush win rate, have no impact players who had their season cut short making a comeback, the roster construction and plan for defense just doesn’t make sense and we all can see it. They didn’t even try, very few offers went out to portal DL/LB. 131 FBS schools will be scouring the portal for late entries on the DL, even the ones with depth. You cannot tell me their plan was to wait until after spring to shore up the front. This is Todd Dodge levels of arrogance thinking there will be improvement. AND we pay our DC handsomely for these services😂
  11. Does anyone legitimately believe we will give up less than 33 PPG next season?
  12. Yes, just a joke. Didn't intend to ruffle any feathers. GMG
  13. I am loving the stable of wite receivers we are building here. Landon Sides, Dalton Carnes, Kyle Koch, Wyatt Young, and Baron Tipton all seem to have bright futures. If only we had hung on to Coy Eakin or had an upperclassmen like Johnny Quinn or even Michael Lawrence still playing. #GMG
  14. The most simple play has been killing us all the way back to the year App State made our defense look comical. There is a video on youtube that breaks down the Iowa State 3-3-5 and points out how the off tackle run is the main weakness and requires the middle (star) safety to crash downhill and keep the run to 3 yards or less. It will remain a problem I'm not convinced we have the personnel to run this defense.
  15. Yep, the Murphy twins both, too bad they may as well have never played here.
  16. It's pretty mind blowing how 75% of the transfers are on offense and the D transfers are mostly safeties. It's like Caponi thinks the main issue last year was safety play not the front 6. You would expect a massive overhaul, because we don't return enough players on that side to hang our hat on continuity. I have gone so far beyond giving him the benefit of the doubt, but he needs to go. His evaluations are off, his game plans are bad, his lack of urgency is dumbfounding. Paying him all that money for the worst defense then watching him do the same the year after in asinine. I'm glad Morris is a better playcaller than Littrell, that's great, but he is just Littrell 2.0, and we don't have annual games with a (bad) Rice, UTEP, FIU & MTSU to rack up the wins with anymore. I'm trying to find the positives here long term with Morris and I don't see it.
  17. Very worried. New QB learning new system, new wide receivers, 3 OL starters gone and a whole bunch of tight ends who will be very green. To think we will be anywhere near as good as we were last year on offense is foolish in my opinion. On top of that, I’m beyond concerned with the defense. I’m not sure who we’ve signed that’s supposed to be the players we need to turn around a system like this in one off season. We can’t hang our hat on continuity when we lose half of our roster. I’m hoping we field a top 60 scoring offense and can improve enough on defense to not be in the 100s, we might crack 6-6 with those figures, and that seems lofty.
  18. One of the worst parts is players talk and when player A learns player B is making 20k more than him it breeds envy amongst teammates. All these guys and the people in their ear think they should play day one and have NFL futures. I know of a local player who went SEC and started this year but since he was offered less than other returning players who played he transferred. His Dad shopped him around with only criteria for new school being he needs a minimum of $100k. Everyone agrees something needs to be done, but nothing will be done, NCAA is toast and the sooner we accept the fact that all the millions we pour in to football would be much better invested in to basketball the better off we will be.
  19. “pReStIgIoUs VeNuE”
  20. Other way around he cooled on them. Not sure why we didn’t push harder for him.
  21. I know of a local (ish) QB who got an offer from a low tier P5 school late, redshirted his first year, and then had a *decent year as a RS FR, he entered the portal and got 400k + a house on campus with all expenses paid for a year from another P5. This guy was not even on Rodgers level and he got that much. We need a T Boone Pickens to come along for us to compete now 🤷‍♂️
  22. Was offered 150k by a lower tier P5 school. Just to give y’all an idea of what we are up against.
  23. One of the worst parts is when they leave and get drafted (like Gabriel Murphy will this year) that school gets credit not us. This just douchebaging sucks, I hope we start funneling most NIL money towards basketball we are never going to compete for the playoff in football.
  24. I know they're dirty as hell. I know they're scumbags who have always been content with looking the other way. I have seen a screenshot from within last two weeks of their current DC Scott Symons sending a message to a player on another FBS team about entering the portal for 2024 offering six figures to play for SMU. They are still breaking the rules and as dirty as ever. Doesn't change the fact that over the last decade their program has been a winner and is now going to be joining a P4/P5 conference. That doesn't just affect football it changes the trajectory for every scholarship athlete. It's 2023, whether we like it or not they are hanging with the haves and we are getting demolished amongst the have nots.
  25. Not that I'm not jealous, because getting in to the ACC is a VERY big deal, and SMU deserves kudos for that, but do you believe the donors footing the bill for this move will be happy with their investment if you wind up being the Vanderbilt of the ACC?
