  3. NT's All-Time I-A/FBS Leaders in Tackles: 1. Craig Robertson: 381 2. Brad Kassel: 365 3. Zach Orr: 357 4. Burks Washington: 351 During the first quarter of the Tulsa game, on a 2nd and 2 from the North Texas 40, Zach Orr and Marcus Trice tackled receiver Keevan Lucas after a 31 yard gain. The tackle was the 352nd of Orr's career, moving him into the top three all-time tackle list for North Texas D-I/FBS defenders. With 113 tackles on the season so far, Orr sits at 357 tackles for his career. To pass Brad Kassell: 9
  4. Brelan Chancellor is already the NT career leader in: Kickoff Returns: 123 (and counting) Kickoff Return Yards: 2,987 (and counting)...13 more kickoff return yards to break the 3,000 yard mark! Kickoffs Returned For TD: 3 (...and counting!) In All-Purpose Yards at NT, he now trails only: 1. Lance Dunbar: 5,375 2. Brelan Chancellor: 5,322 3. Patrick Cobbs: 5,222 -Brelan Chancellor joined Partick Cobbs and Lance Dunbar as the only Mean Green players to reach 5,000 career all-purpose yards. And, he did it in style with a 65 yard punt return for a touchdown versus Rice, a game that clinched bowl eligibility for North Texas for the first time since 2004. -On the very first play from scrimmage of the Tulsa game, Brelan Chancellor caught a 13 yard pass to suplant Patrick Cobbs as the second leading all-purpose yards gainer in the UNT history. -Brelan needs only 54 all-purpose yards in the bowl game to become UNT's career leader in all-purpose yards! He could do that on the opening kickoff! (No pressure, Brelan) Punt return yards in a season: The record is held by J.T. Smith who had 380 punt return yards during the 1976 season. This year, Chancellor has 315. He needs 66 punt return yards during the bowl game to break Smith's single-season record. Brelan's superb season returning punts is fourth best, so far, for single-season punt return yardage. The top three punt return yardage season for D-I/FBS-level North Texas returners are: 1. 380: J.T. Smith, 1976 2. 371: Bernie Barbour, 1969 3. 351: Billy Woods, 1966 4. 315: Brelan Chancellor, 2013 It is notable that not only has no North Texas punt returner had a 300+ yard return season since J.T. Smith set the record, but also that only two North Texas returners since that season had as many as 200 punt return yards in a season: Tubby Coleman with 200 yards in 1996, and Ja'Mel Branch with 229 yards in 2002. Great job, Brelan!
  5. Among NT QBs at the Division I-A/FBS level, Thompson is now: Passing Attempts 1. Derek Thompson: 1,022 2. Steve Ramsey: 1,015 During the 1st Quarter of the Tulsa game, on 2nd and 5 from the Tulsa 20, Derek completed a 17 yard pass to Brelan Chancellor. The pass was the 1,000th of his career, making him and Steve Ramsey NT's only D-I/FBS-level quarterbacks to have throw 1,000 passes in a career. During the 2nd Quarter of the Tulsa game, on a 3rd and 5 from the Tulsa 49, Derek completed a 28 yard pass to Marcus Smith. The pass was the 1,016th of his career and broke Steve Ramsey's record for pass attempts by a D-I/FBS quarterback. Passes Completed 1. Derek Thompson: 614 2. Giovanni Vizza: 532 During the Louisian Tech game, on a 3rd and 5 from the Louisiana Tech 38, Derek Thompson completed a 35 yard pass to Darnell Smith to become UNT's all-time leader in completed passes among I-A/FBS-level quarterbacks. During the Tulsa game, on a 2nd and 8 from the Tulsa 38, Derek completed a 13 yard pass to Drew Miller. The pass was the 600th completion of his career. No other D-I/FBS quarterback in North Texas history has completed 600 passes. Passing Efficiency 1. Scott Hall: 132.26 2. Derek Thompson: 125.8 3. Riley Dodge: 125.71 Touchdown Passes 1. Steve Ramsey: 69 2. Scott Hall: 50 3. Derek Thompson: 40 Passing Yards 1. Derek Thompson: 7,191 2. Steve Ramsey: 7,076 During the fourth quarter of the UTSA game, on 1st and 10 from the UTSA 41, Derek completed a 14 yard pass to Darnell Smith to become only the second I-A/FBS quarterback to throw for 7,000 yards. During the first quarter of the Tulsa game, on 2nd and 20 from the UNT 28, Derek completed a 7 yard pass to Brelan Chancellor to break Steve Ramsey's career passing yards record for NT D-I/FBS-level quarterbacks. Completion Percentage 1. Riley Dodge: 64.7% 2. Jordan Case: 61.6% 3. Giovanni Vizza: 60.7% 4. Derek Thompson: 60.4% Career 200 Yard Passing Games 1. Steve Ramsey: 20 2. Derek Thompson: 19 (can tie Ramsey for Career 200 Yard Passing Game if he passes for 200 yards during the bowl game) Career 300 Yard Passing Games 1. Derek Thompson: 7 2. Steve Ramsey: 6 During the 3rd Quarter, on a 3rd and 10 from the Southern Miss 39, Derek Thompson completed a 14 yard pass to Brelan Chancellor to become UNT's all-time leader in 300 yard passing games among Divison I-A/FBS quarterbacks. Career Total Offense (Passing + Rushing) 1. Derek Thompson: 7,493 2. Steve Ramsey: 6,568 During the 1st Quarter, on a 3rd and 8 from the Southern Miss 44, Derek Thompson completed a 15 yard pass to Brelan Chancellor to become UNT's all-time total offense leader among Division I-A/FBS quarterbacks. During the 4th Quarter, on a 2nd and 9 from the UTEP 42, Derek Thompson threw a touchdown pass to Carlos Harris to become UNT's first I-A/FBS quarterback to surpass 7,000 career yards in total offense. Until the touchdown strike to Harris to put him over 7,000 yards in total offense, all of Derek Thompson's record setting plays this season had come on 3rd down with 5 or more yards to go. Derek needs only seven more yards passing and/or rushing to become North Texas' only D-I/FBS-level quarterback to have more than 7,500 yard of total offense in a career.
  6. Some in our fan base are trying to out-douche Texas and Oklahoma fans who complain when they win. We should be grateful to every coach and player on this team for producing a winning/bowl season after the long absence of both that we have endured.
  7. That's about the size of it: quarterbacking was already good enough for a winning season. But, as pointed out several times during the offseason, it's a team game. Derek has always held up his end of the bargain. This season, the defense and special teams finally stepped up to join him.
  8. Not "esque" - full blown douche baggery.
  9. From January 2001- May 2003: The Lodge, Albertsons and Rib Crib across the street From June 2000 - December 2000: Brittany Square, Jamil's across the street
  10. So, you're saying that you're not into the middle-aged Harley woman scene...Oklahoma style?
  11. I'm going to purchase one for my son for Christmas if you don't mind.
  12. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Eds-Hurricane-Lounge/144792425558504 Best of luck, to ya
  13. Wow. How does that even happen?
  14. Also across the street from the stadium is Ed's Hurricane Lounge. It's been there forever. I haven't listed it because it's a biker bar. If you've got a Harley or can hang with the Harley crowd, Ed's is your place. They have pool tables, televisions, and Harley lady bartenders...middle aged Harley lady bartenders. Ed's isn't a wife and kids-type place, and doesn't really have a college atmosphere. But, if you like that type of old school biker bar, Ed's is your place. I'm sure they'd switch the hockey game over for ya. My guess is most there will be too busy drinking, playing pool, and whatnot to care what's on their television.
  15. Parking is almost none at TU. You'll park in neighborhoods or across the street from the basketball arena. The last game I caught up there, a Thursday nighter with Boise State visiting in 2009(?), I had to park all the way down by the Bama Pie. Still, no matter where you park, you won't walk as far as you do at places like OU. Plus, I doubt it sells out, so...I'd hit the neighborhoods across from the stadium.
  16. There used to be The Hardwood Bar & Grill across the street from the stadium on 11th, but it's long gone. Haven't been up there enough lately to know. Many sports bars come and go. Tulsa has Chili's and a Hard Rock Cafe. Those two will surely have sports showing. I'm not sure how many will be showing hockey, though. Oregon/Oregon State/The Civil War will be on Friday night as well as Central Florida, who has a dark horse chance of getting into a BCS bowl.
  17. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Okeeron-Rutherford-153916 Todd Berry offered the kid. I'm good with taking what Berry considers a good enough receiver.
  18. Agree. Look at what these guys have built with what Todd Dodge left them. Outside of the D-line, we are getting better recruits all the way around. The DL this year is full of experienced guys, and we've been passed over by the injury bug. I worry about next season there with Abbe, Sarge, & crew gone.
  19. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Terian-Goree-152367 Likey! You know what, though? You gotta wonder what CU Buffalo fans think about their lot these days. They are competing with mid-majors for recruits...and losing!
  20. Wow. Hey, Las Vegas ain't all that great during the daylight hours, bro. And, hot? Nevadas got that in spades as well. Humid? This ain't Houston. We're six hours from the coast. Humidity is fine here. I'm guessing the author doesn't realize how big the DFW metroplex is these days. There are no more long stretches of nothing between Dallas and Denton.
  21. The Tavern is on the same street: http://www.taverntulsa.com/location/ McNellie's is up one street: http://www.mcnellies.com/site/sections/1 I left Tulsa in 2003, and it didn't have much of a downtown scene back then. McNellie's opened in 2005(?). Here's a pretty good list of what downtown has to offer these days: http://www.downtowntulsaok.com/directory/eat-drink
  22. Drink menu from Kilkenny's: https://tulsairishpub.com/dmenu.php?id=MzU=
  23. http://www.tulsahurricane.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/111813aaa.html Here's the news link. Get in free if you bring a new, unwrapped Toy valued at $15+. Not a bad promotion. They've done it for the last home game for several years in a row.
  24. There may be. I lived there from 2000-2003, so the craft beer/microbrewery thing wasn't huge yet. Tulsa, though edgey in some areas, is not generally a national trendsetter with such social phenomenon. I leave it to the World Wide Innerwebs to help you in your quest for Tulsa area craftbeers. Although, they may still call it Kickapoo Joy Juice up in them there parts!
  25. I What are you into? If you want a collegey, true dive bar, there's one right across the street from the stadium on Harvard, right behind the Burger King. It's "The Buc" or The Buckaneer Bar. It's been there forever. The visitor's seats are right across from it anyway. You could easily get lit up there, grab a burger from the King, then walk across the street to the stadium. That would be classic college style. The Cherry Street scene is a bit more upscale than The Buc. In that area, if you like food with your beer, the Full Moon Cafe is a good spot. They've got the same sh*t everyone else does Burgers, Nachos, and whatnot. Love music. Dueling pianos on the weekends...or, at least they used to. It's west of the campus at East 15th & (I think) S. Peoria. Also on 15th is Kilkenny's Irish Pub. Great food. Great beer. Excellent atmosphere. A step up in atmosphere from Full Moon Cafe, two steps up from The Buc. The Brook is up the road from Full Moon Cafe. In fact, if you're on East 15th, just turn on S. Peoria, and everything between about mid 20s to mid 40s in address is known as "Brookside." Many restaurants in that area. The Brook is good, old, reliable. I liken it to Kinkenny's. A step up from Full Moon, two up from The Buc. It's a place to go if you're also in it for dinner. Those areas on East 15th and off of it on S. Peoria - Cherry Street and Brookside - have many choices. So, in order, then: Wearing your flip-flops/sandals/goal: get trashed = The Buc Maybe wearing sandals, maybe shoes/goal: hungry, but not choosy = Full Moon Wearing shoes/goal: want to sit down and eat/have a drink or two before or after dinner = Kilkenny's or The Brook If you're still young and brave enough to hit strip joints, the diviest is Cloud 9 on 31st, east of the campus. I'd be shocked if it was still open. But, if it is, it's sure to still be divey. This will be the strip club of gals with the most tatooes and daddy issues. Night Trips on Sheridan is the other strip club. It claims to be a bit more high brow than Cloud 9. How much more? Well, I mean, you're in Oklahoma at this point, so...it is what it is. Just remember this about any and all strip clubs...no one forced you to go; you went of your own volition. And, if you go to a strip club in Okahoma, you're in a strip club in Oklahoma.
