  1. Thanks, EP Eagle: So, we have: Annual New Mexico Heart of Dallas Until 2019 Beef O'Brady's 2015, 2018, 2019 Bahamas 2014 and four other random years Boca Raton 2014 and 2015 Miami Beach 2014, 2016, and 2018 Hawaii Three times in the next six years New Orleans When the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars... Advocare V100 (Independence Bowl)
  2. Never mind. I found a website to do this equation: http://www.measuringworth.com/uscompare/relativevalue.php The 1981 dollar would be $2.08 to $4.66 in 2010, depending on several things. Go to the website to see for yourself. Therefore, my son's ear stich job should have been $145.60 to a worst case scenario of $326.20 purely on what the value of a dollar in 2010 versus 1981. Somewhere along the line, the medical industry/insurers/plaintiffs attorneys/regulators are adding $473.80 to $654.4 worth of "affordability" to the bill.
  3. This is exactly it. In 1981, I had a dozen stiches in my ear after being hit with a baseball. My parents' bill for it was around $70. Flash forward to 2010, my then-four year old son was hit in the ear with a golf club. Six stiches to close the wound. Our bill was over $800. I understand the value of the dollar is different over a three decade period. But, by a factor of 11 to 12 times?
  4. He doesn't. And, he supports presidential candidates who served in the military - if they are Democrats.
  5. Does anyone know how much longer the current C-USA contracts run with their current bowl tie-ins?
  6. It's really nice. If guns are your thing, you will love it. My dad lives all the way up in Pottsboro and joined after he visited yesterday.
  7. There really wasn't a flag football game last year. It was touch because the flags weren't there. And... ...that is why Emmitt's victory from last year will always carry an asterisk! Emmit Flag Record: 0-9 Emmit Touch Record: 1-0
  8. My dad doesn't even live in Frisco and he joined yesterday. He's got it all - handguns, shotguns, and an AR-15. He's never fired the AR-15. He's one of those people who bought it during the panic among gun enthusiasts following Sandy Hook. All he could talk about for weeks was how the government was going to ban them. So, my guess is, he probably paid double for it what they run today. Crazy. The funny thing is, when we were growing up, my dad never had guns in the house. He'd say to his gun-owning friends, "I stopped having guns in the house when I become old enough to kill a man with my hands!" That was a strange enough statement in itself. Now, he can't stop collecting them. Nuts, man.
  9. It certainly was in 2008 when we moved there. Now, it should probably be called Leaseco. Several homes in our neighborhood have gone from owner-occupied to lease. Lease sign went up in the yard of the home across from us this week. And, we are, you know, just thrilled about it. Sadly...(gulp)...Little Elm is beginning to look attractive to us!
  10. We could form a very small club: The Non-Gunners of Frisco. My guess is that our little group would fill up, at most, two tables at the DQ at Teel and Main.
  11. I may be the only human in Frisco, Texas who hasn't joined the super new gun club. I don't own a gun, though, so...there's always that.
  12. At that point, you are asking pharma companies, doctors, and attorney to reign themselves in. That isn't going to happen. Pharma and doctors have big lobby groups. And, most of the politicians are attorneys, so they're not going to throw themselves under the bus. Therefore, politicians go for the low hanging fruit - passing the cost along to middle America. The criminals, in this health care scenario, are those of us who had "thin/skinny/catastrophe" plans: -How dare we be in our forties and fifties, families already set, and not have maternity coverage. -How dare we stay sober and not have coverage for substance abuse counseling. -How dare we eat properly, exercise, feed our kids properly and keep them active so that we and they do not become obese and become diabetic. The reward for living clean and your wife being past childbearing years is high premiums, high dedudctibles, coverages we don't need, and a smaller list of doctors.
  13. Why is this a spoiler? I already know it's happening. What is not happening is teaching people that it isn't safe...even if you use a condom. That's the tragic part of it. The story is told in the CDC's latest reports on STDs and how they are rising. We bombard kids with the message of "use a condom" and "get on birth control." To what end? Higher STD rates, so far. There's no question about the human body, the biology, anatomy and physiology of it - the anus is not a sexual organ. Use of it during sex is not safe, even with a condom. The longer you misuse the body sexually, the more likely you will end up with an STD or other physical problems. Sad that adults who know better have spent the better part of the past two decades pushing aside the dangers of anal sex; worse, pretending and advising that there is a "safe" way to do it.
  14. There is no comparison - Akina is better than either invidually, or in tandem. Stanford got a great coach. Congrats to them.
  15. This is Zurich's word for firing people. Yes, another insurer on the heels of a very profitable year due to few natural catastrophes lays off employees...and, whatnot: http://www.ibamag.com/news/global-insurer-to-slash-800-jobs-17525.aspx
  16. If not, what's the hold up?
  17. Whether you like him or not, Kim Jong Un received 100% of the vote. Ah, yes...people loves that central planning! The good old days can continue in North Korea! http://news.yahoo.com/nkorea-not-single-vote-cast-against-kim-jong-043526489.html
  18. So, your voting pattern, really, is not as influenced by military service as you claim. Among those who have recently run for president, it would be hard to argue that no one sacrificed more for the country than Bob Dole and John McCain. Neither one faked parts of their military service or threw away their medals, like John Kerry did. Just be honest and say you normally vote for the more liberal of the candidates.
  19. I don't think CDC is the right place. I think it would be the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Unfortunately, they don't seem to have statistics broken down into "Black Widow Facial Tattoos." http://www.bop.gov/about/statistics/population_statistics.jsp It would be interesting to see who has more facial tattoos though: white supremacists, black gang members, or hispanic gang members. My money would be on the white supremacists. I think they'd have the edge in shaved heads as well.
  20. My guess is, like in the former Soviets and Cuba, our First Amendment-type of society is as unpopular with President Bus Driver as it was with Chavez.
  21. So, what you're saying is that there is no Koch Brothers or Rupert Murdoch equivalent to balance things out politically and protect the middle and upper middle classes in Venezuela.
  22. I don't want to spoil the end for all movie goers, but in addition to the spider tattoo, the guys is racking up a pretty lengthy rap sheet. http://crime.blogs.news-journalonline.com/10822/facing-your-arachnophobia/
  23. And, you didn't vote for Clinton in '92 or '96 because the guys who ran agains thim went to war, but he dodged, burned the American flag, and whatnot?
  24. So, you voted for McCain in 2008 because he went, right?
  25. Wake me up when we have mobs in the street trying to overthrow any given president...or, when we have a couple in a row who turn us so socialist that we have no toilet paper or bread. To me, Venezuela and Detroit are the same thing: elect socialists long enough and you will be destroyed from within. The only difference is the opposition to socialism in Detroit became non-existent; so, there was no one left to riot...which is good given the lack of the Detroit PD's in ability to respond to emergencies anyway.
