Thanks, Silver - But, I took Oil and Gas Law, International Petroluem Transactions, and Land Use Law from a former Carter and Clinton official, and took a Renewal Energy Law from one of the few JSD's in the country, who also worked in the Carter administration, both for the U.S. and consulting for the U.N. I've learned what those on the left believe about energy from people who have lived it and dedicated their lives to it. I appreciated learning from both of them because they did not attack oil companies. And, both understood that renewable energy was going to take several decades, if not most of the 21st Century to implement because of the cost. Electric cars, wind farming...it's all good an well, but it isn't cheap or efficient yet. And, there are many products that come from petroleum that make life much easier and safer. The strident attitudes against petroleum are nothing but ignorance and hypocrisy; neither of the professors who taught energy policy and law to me had such.

Yeah, I'm not sure what this guy expected. It's not like one of those old Lutheran Davey and his dog shows, made especially for believers. -
The last week of January, I pulled my son out of our neighborhood public school after learning that they were using common core curriculum for math. We bought him a year's worth of second grade curriculum for math, reading, writing, and science. He finished it in three weeks. So, we went and got the third grade books. With the second week of April upon us, he has already finished half of those book. It looks as though we will be ordering fourth grade books by the beginning of May. Now, all of this has led me to believe there is a ton of time-wasting in school. My son was not in the gifted and talented program. He's your average eight year old kid, more interested in video games and baseball than school work. I look back at the work he was doing when we pulled him out and now wonder why the public schools move so slowly. Kids are like sponges. My son is eight, speaks English and Spanish fluently (thanks to his Mexican momma), and is in his third year of private Chinese lessons. And, you know what? He can do all of it without being "gifted and talented." There is so much talk about education these days. The truth is, the vast majority of kids are probably like my son: average motivation, bored out their skulls at what is being spoon-fed to them in the test-obsessed public school. I never in a million year thought I'd be homeschooling, and don't know if I will again next year. I'll probably let him decide whether he wants to go back to the public school or keep coming into the office everyday with me and doing the curriculums we buy. We're also looking into this Coram Deo school that goes a couple of days to a school, and the other three days at home. Anyway, it's a shame about the education system these days. I think millions of kids just pass through the cracks or just get pushed along towards the high school graduation line without ever really learning much these days beyond how to prepare for state exams. They can test all they want, change standard all they want (hello, common core), but the truth is, equal outcomes cannot be guaranteed. I took my son out of their educational sausage factory and, surprisingly, don't regret it.

Waiting to see this from people who claim to want to get rid of oil companies: Oh, but, wait...these fellas seem to have killed animals for clothing. That's not very environmentally friendly! Weren't the animals here before us? Gosh! Even cavemen don't understand animal rights! Won't mankind ever get it right?
-
So, the environmental-friendly wing here doesn't love the earth more than their pocket book? What a surprise. But, we knew that from last year when I posted the list of everyday items made with petroleum products that leftists need to give up to be true to their cause. Here it is again: Here is a short list...provided by PBS, so leftist can know that it isn't a church or "right wing" organization that provided it: http://www-tc.pbs.org/independentlens/classroom/wwo/petroleum.pdf Here's another one. Shampoo, of course, is in the list. Many leftist already don't use shampoo, so that's an easy one. Guitar strings. Think of that - all those protest songs played on a petroleum product. Kind makes you wanna giggle at them a little more than you normally would: http://www.ranken-energy.com/Products%20from%20Petroleum.htm For leftists who have difficulty reading, HuffPo made a picture thingy a few years back. They contended that it was "shocking" that these things were made of petroleum. And, I suppose regular HuffPo-types would be shocked to understand how many things they use whose origins are in petroleum. I especially like the golf ball bit. All of that golf Obama plays - just giving back to the evil oil companies all he can at every turn! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/11/9-shocking-things-made-fr_n_570796.html#s89403title=Plastics Here's an awesome quote from a leftist website: "How leveraged against petroleum is our first world society? The short answer is: very." Oh, the world is so complicated and frustrating when you dig down past the rhetoric! http://www.saveandconserve.com/2007/05/petroleum_based_products_a_long_list.html Again - same as the last time I posted this list - I'll go along with the environmentalist once they put their money where the mouth is and stop using the things produced by the entities they call "evil."

Wake hires Tulsa coac Danny Manning

Now, at least, he'll have some competition to see whether his coaching skills are worthy of going higher. -

Have we fired McCarney and Canales yet?

So, you're saying McCarney and Canales will both be at the scrimmage Saturday? -

...and RV. You forgot about the scoundrel who hired them all to begin with! I'm beginning to think that the real conspiracy is Rick trying to undermine the whole program for the sake of his old employer, Southern Miss! But, like in the movie Major League, he was foiled by the overachieving dolts of 2013!. -
I didn't know there was still an Atlanta. You mean, it's not underwater yet? I was just waiting for Kevin Costner and Napolean Dynamite's girlfriend to float by. Damn those stubborn polar ice caps! Why can't they melt faster so that the East Coast, West Coast, and Canada can be flooded and forgotten! I'm taking the long way home today and mowing my grass at lunch time tomorrow. Hurry up climate change! We're depending on you!

Hard to believe Oklahoma didn't fire Stoops in 2001 and Texas didn't fire Brown in 2006. They never could build it right twice. All of those wasted seasons for UT and OU fans. Hope they had fun at the tailgates. Personally, after wandering in the desert from 2005-2012, I know that if we go 6-6, I will be sitting outside Apogee in sackcloth and ashes, scraping myself with pottery shards over the shame McCarney and Canales will have brought the program. We should all curse God and die now so that we won't have to live through such abominable times. How could we possibly live with ourselves and show our faces in public (not to mention among family and friends) if McCarney and Canales lead to back-to-back bowl seasons...with "unathletic" quarterbacks? -

Okay. KA-POW, Nagasaki! You win. I now admit, sitting among the rubble, that the Emperor is not a god. -

If they would get into the weight room, read the playbook, and put in more time watching game film instead of worrying about what is written on a fan message board among fans... ...ya hear what I'm sezin'? Avril Lavigne would probably tell them, "Life's like this": some people say they don't give a f*ck about what people think and get a job done, other people really don't give a f*ck what people think and get a job done. It's all about motivation, brah. Where does the answer lie: living day to day? If it's something we can't buy, there must be another way. OR Where does the answer lie? It's important that we don't let Northern Colorado steal another athletic quarterback from us...with McCarney and Canales just sleeping at the wheel. -

Let's see here...Dajon, injured in practice; Derek, injured during a game. I see the difference. Dajon will never be the starter because he gets injured in practice. Derek somehow made it through the rigors of practices and scrimmages and started a few ball games over the years. I see where you're going with this. -
For the high crime of not just naming Dajon Williams the starter? Why all of this fuss about what he does in the weight room and on the field in practice and scrimmages? Haven't McCarney and Canales seen his youtube highlights yet? They're at least as good, if not better, than Brock Berglund's...and that guy was ranked right up there with Johnny Manziel...the "athletic" QB who can jump almost as high as "unathletic" Derek Thompson.

Wake hires Tulsa coac Danny Manning
The Fake Lonnie Finch replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Was never sold on Manning as Tulsa's coach. Consider myself wrong about him...to a point. C-USun Belt basketball isn't the same C-USA basketball before the Sun Belt transferred to the conference and the conference formed a new conference. It's a good job, and Manning is from North Carolina; so, I see it. However, I don't see this as a "game changing" hire for Wake Forest. And, I don't think Wake's ACC foes are losing much sleep this morning. -

If Dajon can't take hits in a scrimmage, how would he last for a season? There is a reason you put in work in the off-season. Maybe he will learn that some day. Maybe. If Dajon wants to know about hard work, durability, and leadership, he can ask UNT's #1 All-Time FBS/D-I QB: Derek Thompson. -
UNT Pro Day times, notes and thoughts (video up!)
The Fake Lonnie Finch replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes: http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft/combine/_/id/8/sort/vertical/order/true Interesting about Derek's results: -His 40 equaled Clemson's Tajh Boyd. -His vertical was better than all but four of the NFL combine QB invitees, including Johnny Manziel. So, we know Derek is as fast as Boyd and can outjump Manziel...and, some think he was the least "athletic" QB on the roster last year.- 7 replies
