  1. Yes, their fans want to see them play. But, the gist of the article is that Baylor's AD was lamenting the fact that he couldn't get big schools in there, i.e. Michigan, Notre Dame, Southern Cal...the traditional powers. If I'm the AD at Traditional Blue Blood University, I have to look at my donors and season ticket holders in the eye at events throughout the year. How am I selling them on the idea of spending their money to travel to Waco, Texas? And, that's in addition to asking them for money every year for other sh*t to keep us at the top of the heap. That's the problem Baylor's AD has: TBBU schools can't sell a trip to Mayberry, U.S.A. to their stakeholder. Okie Lite, KU, and K-State have to go there because it is a conference game for them. It is what it is: a school in Waco. Congratulations to Baylor on their recent success and new stadium. But, good luck enticing the Michigans and Notre Dames of the world to come to Waco simply because you have a new [Jerry Jones voice]stadjyum.[/Jerry Jones voice]
  2. So, what is Rick supposed to do, 90? Pretend that Texas A&M will come to the DFW area again, just for the sake of coming to it again? Texas...already playing OU in Dallas and every other year in Fort Worth? Baylor and Texas Tech? Already playing in Arlington and every other year in Fort Worth. I mean, when does reality set in for you as it has for Rick? We all know it sucks that for decades that school's administration let athletics rot. Rick has gotten the cart out of the ditch. Can you at least agree on that? But, hell, as Boise State and Baylor have discovered, it doesn't matter what you have done on the field lately. The big "traditional power" schools are still going to call the dance - and, it's going to be an expensive dance. So, I think Rick has taken the right approach. He got us a Big Ten home and home with Indiana. He got us regional home and homes with Tulsa and Houston. He got us some equally competitive home and homes with MAC schools. He's worked in some FCS games to help us develop and move towards bowl eligibility. But, the man can't snap his fingers and undo decades worth of neglect. That takes hundreds of millions of dollars. T. Boone Pickens bought Oklahoma State competitiveness out in the boonies of Oklahoma. Unless we get a Mean Green T. Boone, you may as well stop your bitching and be happy that aren't still in the Southland with SFA and SHSU like it was when I was in school.
  3. Oh. And, also, f*ck Baylor anyway.
  4. Baylor, despite its recent success, still has to face reality - it is located in Waco. What does that do for a school whose fans travel? Do major airlines fly directly into Waco, or even near Waco? No. Dallas-Fort Worth is an hour and half away. Austin, the same. So, if what Baylor fans call "blue blood" fans had their school schedule a home and home against them, what is the draw? DFW and Austin aren't really at a convenient distance to say, "We'll hang out in Dallas or Austin a bit, then hit the game." You look at, say, Kansas State. It's out in the middle of nowhere as well. But, within walking distance of the K-State's football stadium is Aggieville, with restaurants, bars, and whatnot. Do you have that at Baylor? What do you really have at Baylor if you are a "blue blood" fan and your school chooses to play there? Nothing. So, you can't fly into it, or even very near it. There is nothing to do once you arrive other than wait for the game. What do Bear fans really they think the draw is? "Blue blood" fans have already been into big stadiums. They play in conferences full of them. Plus fans of "blue blood" schools have been to major bowl games in big, "state of the art" new stadiums already. So, no one outside of Baylor and its alumni are really going to give a crap about their new stadium either. They basically have a big steaming plate of sh*t sandwiches that no one wants to eat with them. And, expensive sh*t sandwiches to boot. Sadly, for Baylor, UTSA might be a better draw for the "blue bloods" simply because most yankees still fall for the idea that San Antonio is a neat place to visit. I mean, hell, if you think Tex-Mex is Mexican food, San Antonio is an exotic locale. And, having had a sister who used to live in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and trying to flag down even Tex-Mex-like fare there, I can tell you that those folk wouldn't know Mexican food if it took its sombrero off and tacked it on their asses with a churro.
  5. And recruiting. Already getting lots of kids in Texas a chance to see us from end to end with Louisiana Tech, UTSA, and UTEP in conference. Texas State is just another opportunity to get in front of Texas kids there in central Texas. That's a good good. That's why I love the regional games as well. Would like to keep us fresh in the minds of the kids and coaches in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas...and Colorado! Come on with a series versus Colorado, RV!
  6. Given that our conference - and, therefore, OOC options - have changed since the contract was signed, I'd try to talk them into cutting the contract from six games to four or two. I'd hate to stick it to Army, though, given that they are not power guys, but an Independent which struggles to get decent games. Their future schedules are not great: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/indep/army-black-knights.php
  7. Agree on Kansas. One of my neighbors is a Jayhawk grad. They home and home Houston in 2019 and 2020. They also only have three OOCs. Their away to Houston is 2019: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/big-12/kansas-jayhawks.php. I'd ask them, then, to give us a 2020 home game, and we'll come up there in 2019 or 2021. It looks like a fit. Only thing is, they are already in Fort Worth every other year in odd numbered years to play TCU in conference. Would they give us 2020, which would put them in DFW three consecutive seasons: 2019 at TCU, 2020 at UNT, and 2021 at TCU? For the sake of their recruiting, I don't see why Kansas would be opposed. Excellent thought, dude!
  8. 90, Everyone is looking at 2018 and beyond right now. We are no different than anyone else in that regard. Look at the future schedules. I'm not sure what it is you want? When we made those SMU and Army commitments, everyone wanted them AND we were in a different conference whose composition allowed us to have four non-conference games. Okay? We got an invite to the C-USA, which kicked out one OOC a year due to its size. So, what can you do? Say no to going to the C-USA, which we all thought was a better deal, just to keep with four OOCs? Come on, man. Rick is no different than many non-Criminal 5 ADs. He's having to work with constant conference shuffling as well. Do you think the day he agreed to join C-USA he forsaw it collapsing into Sun Belt II, then adding Old Dominion and Charlotte? I doubt it. Your beef should kind of be with Banowsky as far as having only three OOCs now. He's the one who panicked and over-invited once the original C-USA members began to bolt. You play with the hand you are dealt. Rick can fix 2015, as I've described in the other thread. He can ask Tennessee to move the game to another year. Or, McCarney can help with his Coach Fry connection and try to get the Iowa game moved from 2015 to 2019, 2021, or 2023. It can be remedied.
  9. Also, at to the 2015 schedule: One of the away games is at SMU. So, we're not talking about having to have fans travel far to it. It's a cheap away game to go to. Get Tennessee moved, and you are looking at only Iowa as a long trip. And, even that trip is in the same time zone. So... ...relax and see whether or not Rick can get this thing fixed up for ya. I bet he does...or, my name isn't Orville Redenbacher!
  10. I know you all like harping on 2015. Okay, fine. Fair enough. But, even that can be fixed. If I were Rick, I'd do one of two things: (1) Move the game Seeing as Tennessee has three home OOCs that year, so they are already fine schedule wise. So, I'd ask them to move our game to another year down the road. Taking a look at both of our current future schedules, I'd ask for it to be pushed to one of the year we play Army here, so that we're not making two long road trip for OOC. That would mean asking Tennessee to move it to 2019 or 2021 or beyond. As of today, Tennessee has no OOC home games scheduled for those years yet: Our only scheduled road OOCs in those seasons, so far, is SMU. That'd be a good trade off, right? In fact, I'd be inclined to say, let us out of 2015 and we'll go there in 2019 and 2021. Iowa is already paying us for 2015 and 2017 visits, and our other @ OOCs in those years are SMU. So, what's the harm? (2) Just buy out of it Does this hurt? Yes. But, other schools have done it in the past and survived. We've got more bowl money coming in the future from our new conference. So, if we have to go this route, many the financial blow is softened a little bit by that. This thing can be fixed. There is plenty of time. The year OU got stuck with going to UTEP, someone backed out on them in, if I remember correctly, February or March, just about half a year before the game was scheduled. So, Rick has plenty of time to remedy the 2015 schedule dilemma. Would have satisfy you, if he could get Tennessee moved and an OOC home game to replace it?
  11. And, here's the schools I listed in March and their future schedules as of today: Wake Forest: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/acc/wake-forest-demon-deacons.php Syracuse: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/acc/syracuse-orange.php NC State: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/acc/nc-state-wolfpack.php Pitt: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/acc/pittsburgh-panthers.php Virginia: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/acc/virginia-cavaliers.php Northern Illinois: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/mid-amer/northern-illinois-huskies.php Kent State: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/mid-amer/kent-state-golden-flashes.php Miami (OH): http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/mid-amer/miami-redhawks.php Toledo: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/mid-amer/toledo-rockets.php Wazzu: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/pac-10/washington-state-cougars.php Colorado: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/pac-10/colorado-buffaloes.php ***Schedules through 2024 with no travel to Texas? They need Texas recruits again!*** Texas State: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/sun-belt/texas-state-bobcats.php New Mexico State: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/sun-belt/new-mexico-state-aggies.php San Jose State: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/mtn-west/san-jose-state-spartans.php San Diego State: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/mtn-west/san-diego-state-aztecs.php Cincinnati: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/aac/cincinnati-bearcats.php
  12. Look at other schools' OOCs and tell me who you think we should be trying to get. And, be realistic. Some of you and this A&M thing, when they are already going to be in the Metroplex 12 times of the next 11 seasons, need to grab reality's long and handy reigns. http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/ncaa-football-schedules.php Also, the reality is, most schools are working on 2018 and beyond because they are filled up until then. Okay? In March, I did this with 2018 as the realistic beginning point and came up with my favorite list of future opponents who: (1) had 2018 and beyond OOC spots open, (2) weren't already scheduled to play in the DFW area, (3) had a history of traveling across time zones for OOC games, and (4) had a history of schedule non-Criminal 5 conference schools My list, then, contained: Northern Illinois San Diego State Wake Forest Syracuse North Carolina State Pittsburgh Virginia Kent State / Miami (OH) / or Toledo Washington State Colorado Texas State or New Mexico State Kentucky San Jose State So, I tried to be realistic. Please, (please), do not give me a list that says Notre Dame, Southern Cal, Oklahoma, and the like. Okay? Be realistic. I think my list four point list gets you into the realm of scheduling reality.
  13. Basketball? Would you trade the new facilities we have in all sports, take Fouts back, if God himself appeared and said, "I'll give your UNT basketball program a place in the NCAA tournament every season until the day you die your earthly death if you give your shiny new facilities back?"
  14. What I'm saying is look at what you are complaining about: Northern Illinois picks up series with San Diego State, Utah, Maryland, and BYU. And, TCU gets Ohio State. Rick V got the home and homes people were clamoring for a few years ago - SMU and Army. These contracts are done years in advance. That's why Northern Illinois and TCU are announcing series for 2018 and beyond. In the recnet past, Rick has gotten plenty of what we wanted: regional home and homes with Houston and Tulsa, home and homes with MAC schools Ball State and Ohio, and a home and home with Big Ten's Indiana. You can't talk about A&M coming back to Dallas when they are already going to be here 12 times for over the next 11 seasons. Newsflash: They aren't scheduling TCU either. (SEE HERE: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/big-12/tcu-horned-frogs.php AND HERE: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/sec/texas-am-aggies.php PLUS Arkansas as an annual SEC conference game in Arlington until 2024) Look at TCU's schedules. They've got FCS schools SFA and South Dakota State in the future. And, a low level Minnesota, which I'd say is about even to our home and home with Indiana. Every is working on 2018 and beyond. I made a list in March of what some schools that have yet to fill their 2018 and beyond OOCs. Just because TCU gets Ohio State and Northern Illinois announces a few of their series doesn't mean Rick isn't working on our 2018 and beyond. You guys are like my kids. We go out to a store or to someone else's house, and they want, want, want something else they see available or that other people have. They already have closets and a garage full of sh*t to play with. And, every birthday, Christmas, Easter, vacation, trips to sporting events, and State Fairs and whatnot, I'm getting them more sh*t because they are my kids and: (1) I love them and like to see them happy, and (2) they constantly nag me about more things, so it's always on my mind. Don't you think by now that Rick loves this University and wants its sports fans to be happy in a similar way that I want my kids to be happy? I'd love to spoil them with every toy and thing they want. But, sometimes the price is too high. They get plenty, though. And, we nag and nag and nag at Rick, so it's on his mind. Would he like a home and home with Ohio State? Yes, he would. And, how do you all know he hasn't asked and been turned down? He offers what he has to offer. TCU has some Big 12 clout behind it now. Is it Rick's fault that our school's brass put their collective heads up their ass from 1983 to 1995? TCU hustled, enduring several conference changes from 1996 on. Congrats to the for finally scoring an Ohio State-like visit. But, you all have no idea whether we will or not. My point is, you don't have any idea right now who is asking. What do you think they do all day, sit around and watch re-runs of the 2003 New Orleans Bowl? Rick Villareal has done some pretty done gone miraculous things at this school as far as athletics go. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt as far as scheduling goes. He's doing fine and no different than anyone else. Hell, two seasons ago Oklahoma was in such a scheduling pickle that they had to take a roadie to UTEP to open the season. Scheduling isn't just snapping your fingers and saying, "Come to our school." Give the man his due and show a little faith in him. Honestly.
  15. I can't make it, but someone who can, please ask my question for me: "Why aren't you walking on water, making the lame walk, the blind see, raising the dead, and feeding five thousand with five loaves and two fishes yet? Slacker!"
  16. Hells damn bells, you all. You bitched for years and years about getting a home and home with SMU, RV does it, and you're happy for awhile. Now, you bitch about it. After the first Army series, and the trip to West Point, you all fell in love with the idea of hooking them into a home and home series, which RV did. But, now you bitch about it. He went off the beaten path of OU/Texas/LSU to get us games with Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Iowa, and you were happy to be getting to see something other than Norman, Austin, or Baton Rouge. We're completing a home and home with Big Ten's Indiana this year that he got us. And, you're still bitching. But, now... ...some kids down the block has a couple of new toys and you're all worked up in a fuss. What the f*ck? Except for San Diego State (2016 and 17), all of these fall into 2018 or later...the same time period RV and staff are working on now. Settle the f*ck down. You don't have any idea what we may get. You don't have any idea who RV has asked, but has been rejected by. And, if the bar is set at Maryland, Utah, and San Diego State, then it won't be difficult to equal. And, Texas A&M? What the hell is the matter with you people? They are already playing Arkansas at Jerry World every year from 2014 to 2024, plus a game at SMU in 2014. I think they've got the DFW recruiting base covered without scheduling yet another DFW area school. Wake the f*ck up! I've said it before and I'll say it again, this fan base is so damn easily led into pity parties and whatnot...I don't know how or why RV or Dan McCarney or anyone wouldn't jump at the chance to leave. Biggest damn bunch of ingrates in the college football landscape. How you can sit in the new stadium, in full view of the scrap heap of Fouts, and still complain about anything RV does is beyond me. And, I was the biggest RV detractor in the fold before then. Lay off the man. He's got done what needed to be done. He's doing what needs to be done. But, hells damn bells, from the hole we started in...forget it. Every last one of you complainers should be lined up and given a mule kick to the testicles.
  17. Grew up in a tough neighborhood; lost a little sister in a pit bull attack...with family member perhaps being the owner of said pit bull. Hope he continues to overcome the academic problems of his past and does well here. http://www.msnewsnow.com/story/11978601/terry-child-mauled-to-death-by-pit-bull http://blog.dogsbite.org/2010/02/2010-fatality-terry-child-7-years-old.html
  18. More homogenous populations than the U.S.: Britian: white 87.2%, black/African/Caribbean/black British 3%, Asian/Asian British: Indian 2.3%, Asian/Asian British: Pakistani 1.9%, mixed 2%, other 3.7% (2011 est.) Australia: white 92%, Asian 7%, aboriginal and other 1% Japan: Japanese 98.5%, Koreans 0.5%, Chinese 0.4%, other 0.6% Canada: France: France's highly centralized government and top-to-bottom administration can keep tabs on myriad ways its 64.1 million population is evolving except in terms of its racial make-up. The prohibition on using ethnic or religious data — even if volunteered — means France can do no better than estimate that its population includes 4 to 7 million Arabs, 3 to 5 million blacks, some 1.5 million Asians, and around 600,000 Jews (http://content.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1887106,00.html) Name for me the British, Canadian, Japanese, French, and Australian metal and rap groups extolling the virtues of cop killin', rape, and such. Or, how about their equivalents of Quentin Tarantino. Or, their plethora of violence-based television programmes equal to The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Sons Of Anarchy, and the like.
  19. Agree. This is an excellent point to make as well. Those of us in our 40s or older, what, really, was the most violent thing you saw on television back in the 1970s? Movies were beginning to become more violent in the 1970s, but it wasn't being piped into your living room as began to be the case when cable television really hit like a wave in the 80s The music of the 80s and 90s got very violent for kids as well, mainly from certain heavy metal and rap acts. Now, it's all over the place for kids - television, cable or otherwise, movies, games, the internet. It's a "Free Speech" issue, you see. And, long ago, the Supreme Court decided that art was "speech." And, so, anytime you have the next more violent (or pornographic) thing come down the pike, it's immediately labeled art and defended by the sick weirdos of society. It's okay to have movies about aimless killings and revenge killings and other type of gratuitous violence you can imagine...it's art. Pornography, free on the internet to anyone who can pop a dirty word into google...it's art. Heavy metal and rap "songs" about killing police, ex-girlfriends, rival gang member, etc....it's art.
  20. He's found two states where almost 90% of whites voted for Romney...while over 95% of blacks voted for Obama. Jimmy Carter, and other race-baitors, think this is somehow newsworthy. It's re-hash of what we already know to the nth degree. For what purpose, Jimmy? Sometimes, I admire Jimmy Carter. For instance, for his extensive work with Habitat For Humanity. Then, he puts down the hammer and speaks, and I wonder if we are on the same planet.
  21. Hello, Jimmy Carter: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/10/jimmy-carter-gop-race_n_5125582.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592 Why is it news that white males in the South vote mostly GOP? Blacks vote mostly Democrat. Who cares? Carter says whites vote because of race. And, blacks, Jimmy? These types of analysis are stupid. Thanks for telling us what we already know. Once whites start voting 90% GOP, as blacks do for the Democrats, then get back to us, Jimmy.
  22. And, evaporation. Somewhere along the line, when the ice is melting into water and the earth is hotter, evaporation will occur. Unless...evaporation is just left out of the assumptions that we're all doomed. I wouldn't doubt it if it were left our or seriously discounted. After all, if I can't convinced legislatures around the world (especially the legislatures of rich, First World countries) that they are doomed unless they act now, I can't get my hands on their taxpayers' money through research grants. Evaporation is for suckers!
  23. I plussed thee one because you had been negged. Besides, it's well known that it's not black people I hate but, rather, whitey. Everyone who is someone knows I'm all about this:
  24. I'm saddened to read that sea levels might be raised only 20 inches or so...not near enough to rid us of the East Coast, Houston, and New Orleans...sigh....
