Wow. Three teams. Woo-hoo. That's surely an increase from past seasons, right? And, that stellar 4-4 bowl record. Texas had one thing, it's defense...well, against the Big 12 schools maybe. Bama took what little Texas had on offense, Colt McCoy, immobilized it, then coasted home to a 16-point win. Anyone who watched Texas versus Oklahoma and Nebraska would have known the Longhorns weren't going to do squat against Alabama. And...with two 100 yard rushers against the "#1 run defense in college football." Laughable coming out of the Big 12 conference. It's a great run defense against schools that pass the ball too much. Yeah, the best. Stick them up against a coach and coaching staff who don't have their heads up their backsides, and you get what you get...two 100 yard rushers - one a freshman and the other a sophomore - and another Big 12 team stomped in the national title game by an SEC school. As many BCS games as Mack Brown has whined his way into and OU has backed into thanks to computers, it was nice to watch one or the other get put in their place again. Now that Tommy Tuberville is at Tech and Bo Pelini has Nebraska halfway (defensive side of the ball) up again, the conference may be credible again next season or in 2011. Also...Boise/Bama...? Forget it. Boise barely handled a TCU team that left its offense at home. Bama would have shut either of those two out. The real national title game was played on December 5, 2009 when Bama and Florida met in the SEC title game. No Big 12 team could have come within 16 of either of them this year.

New Tt Info Tuberville's Plans

Given all that has happened in the coaching world since Dodge was given another year to tear down the program, we should reconsider, fire him and his staff today, and start interviewing the college coaches that are now available. -

Yes, because it's brought them so many Big 12 titles. -
Me, Coach Hines, and Yamanashi agree with 164% of this post. The Big 12 is the most overrated of the BCS conferences.

Agreed. But, can you blame them? The coaches go into their homes speaking of championships and flashing rings. You've got to do something. You can get burned the other way as well. I had a buddy in Denver who was recruited by Air Force and Colorado State in the early to mid 90s. Both were doing well, but he ended up going to UNLV because he could get playing time sooner. Well, UNLV was awful every year he was there. They had no winning seasons and went to no bowls. And, CSU head coach Sonny Lubick, who had come to his house and personally recruited him, even taunted him after one loss. After The Rams had beaten them, Lubick spotted my friend as the players and coaches were shaking hands after the game. He says Lubick raised his hand with his bowls rings on his fingers and said, "Remember this conversation, son?" So, yeah, you could say Harris got nothing for going to UT where there was alot of competition. But, still...he ain't leaving empty-handed. He's got enough bowl rings and a Big 12 title ring to fill up one hand. Plus, an education on UT's dime. Alot of guys, like my friend, chase playing time and end up with alot less. -
Not A Bad Second Year For Gt's Paul Johnson...

Amen to this. If TCU can climb as far as they did, we can. But, in reality, Patterson has been there since 1998, first as DC, then head coach. He's been building there for 12 seasons now. And, the first three seasons he was there 1998-2000, weren't "rebuilding" years. They took a 1-10 team and won immediately with what Pat Sullivan left for them. That's why I still believe the right coach and coaching staff can do it immediately at almost any program. The problem now for Patterson, as he's about to find out, is now the problem guys like Mack Brown and Bob Stoops have - fans expecting too much every season no matter what the circumstances. Here's an example from KillerFrogs.com...Horned Frog faithful complaining that Gary Patterson's defense isn't as aggressive as it used to be! And, one saying that he misses "the old Patterson." No really. They just played in a BCS bowl and Patterson's not aggressive enough for them in his defensive scheme. http://www.killerfrogs.com/msgboard/index....howtopic=110018 -
Not A Bad Second Year For Gt's Paul Johnson...

Well Saint Dodge hasn't done very well with his good-guy routine. And, the player involved in the incident is defending Leavitt. So, there are two sides to every story. I'd say, if Dodge fails again in 2010, at least talk to Leavitt for 2011. -
This guy will end up as a DC at a BCS school again. Hey...Charlie Weis already got another NFL gig as offensive coordinator with the Chiefs. Leavitt is a great defensive coach...and the player in question is even defending him. Someone will snap up Leavitt. I'd say, put him on our list, though. But, I've said before that our short list should be long enough to include almost every former BCS coach you can think of.

You know, I wondered the same thing after that play where Gilbert was hit and was kind of looking like his right arm was all dangling and injured. It would have been interesting to see Chiles running the wildcat with the way Monroe was running off of that WR sweep. Not saying it would have worked. But, it would have been interesting for a couple of plays. The problem is, as stated before, during practice you can only do so much because the NCAA regulates your time. It'd be great if you could practice from afternoon 'til eight at night and practice every second and third team player the way you can the first team. But, you can't. So, it's doubtful that they even prepared a package of plays for Chiles as QB for the game. -
Um...look at the won-loss records of those schools versus ours. We should complain about going 2-10, 1-11, and 2-10. There's a bad trend there. There's alot to pick apart there. But, OU fans complaining about being 8-5 after going to seven BCS bowls this decade? It's different. A whole lot has gone right for OU since Stoops was hired...far more to laud than disparage for sure. Things have gone really well on the field for OU with their coach...for us, not so much.

Different Look At Ut’s Qb Issue
The Fake Lonnie Finch replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Here's the stupid thing about fans of OU and Texas bellyaching about their 2nd team QBs: -Hello, McFly? You stick a second team guy in against the #1 team in the country. Not even Tim Tebow can crack that defense everytime out. Alabama is, what...26-2 over the past two seasons. There have been alot of QBs who haven't been able to crack the Tide defense. -If you take snaps away from your #1 QB, you have to subtract from the full playbook - i.e., dumb it down for the #2 guy. You are wasting snaps and practice time having the #2 guy try to learn everything the #1 is going to run. Because the NCAA regulates practice time as well, the #1 QB is going to, by necessity, have a more in his playbook. It can't be any other way. There's no time to prepare both equally. -Get f'ing real! OU lost to BYU by 1, Miami by 1, Texas by 3, and Nebraska by 7. I'd say your #2 guy did fine, but he can't do everything. If your #2 has you within a point of Miami on the road and within 1 and 3 of bowl teams BYU and Texas, and by less than a TD on the road against Nebraska as a freshman...hello, I'd say QB is the least of your worries for the future! I'd be more worried about having an OL to protect the kid. This is what I meant by douchebaggery of big school fanbases. They've got it so good talent-wise, but they still complain. If we just had one legitimate QB...but, dadgum, these guys sign 4- and 5-star guys to the position year in and year out! Garrett Gilbert is going to win alot of games at Texas. Ditto Landry Jones at OU. I still can't believe people would question the results - especially when you consider the situations they were thrown into. -
I think what we have is interchangable with most mid-majors. We have no one on our roster that dominates the game from down one to the final gun. As pointed out in a thread last week, only one of Dunbar's touchdowns gave us a lead. Only four others expanded a lead. The other 14 were scored when we were behind. So, even our supposedly "best player" isn't a guy who single-handedly takes control of a game. Hell, look at the Army game. Instead of putting the game in his hands to close it down, they had Riley running the ball...to failure. Here's an example of overblowing the one year success of a mid-major player: Ball State's Miquale Lewis. He had big numbers in 2008 - 1,736 rushing yards, 325 recieving yards, 22 TDs. Enter 2009. New QB, new linemen, MiQuale's number's - 871 rushing yards, 151 receiving yards, 5 TDs. I understand that people get excited about a player. But, in reality, a player is what he is when the game is on the line and still within reach. MiQuale Lewis wasn't the player in 2009 that everyone thought he was in 2008. It could well be the same for Dunbar in 2010 and beyond. He didn't tear people up or help us put away teams this year. He ran hard and ran well and busted some long runs when teams ahead of us were blizting. Many people here read more into it that there really is. I will say that based on some of their performances against Western Kentucky, many on our roster would dominate at the FCS-level - including coach Dodge. He always finds a way to beat the Hilltoppers. He'd find a way to beat the Bearkats and Bobcats and Lumberjacks, I'm sure.

Yeah. The many December 2008/January 2009 e-mails between Hance, Myers, the school attorney and that float scenarios of how to get rid of Leach. That's why Leach will get his money out of the Tech idiots. The smartest thing George W. Bush ever did was to not use e-mail. You'd think Hance, an attorney, and the school's attorney would have been smart enough to think through what they were writing back and forth. But....

Eggs Sacked Lee, my friend. Also, as to your other point...who are these team below us who would clamor for our coaches and players? Texas State? Sam Houston State? Delaware State? Berkner High, my beloved alma mater?

This is why you have to love what North Alabama and UTSA did...they asked. Everytime we start a coaching thread and pull out some names of former BCS school coaches, we get pooh-poohed. We can't afford them, they'd never come here, etc., etc., etc. Look, alot of those guys have already made their retirement money at those bigger schools. But, they are still egotistical jerkoffs who think they can coach and will take jobs even at little places like Northern Alabama and start-ups like UTSA to get back in the game. And, folks, South Florida's player-punching-coach-who-the-player-said-never-punched-him-but-just-grabbed-his-shoulder-pads is now out there: Player says Leavitt didn't punch him: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4749780 Leavitt is out of a job anyway, so let's go get him for 2011: http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/id/...r-south-florida -
And, for the record, I'd glady take Les Miles off the hands of the LSU douche bags. Lloyd Carr. Yeah, I'd take him on our sideline. Ditto anyone from OU's coaching staff or the Longhorn coaching staff. I'd take either of the freshmen QBs that OU and Texas fans complain about. Give me all of these worthless human beings in North Texas kelly green. Hell, I'd even take them in our Southlake knock off uniforms trimmed in pink. These other fanbase douches remind me of the the Animotion stalker song "Obsession": You are an obsession I cannot sleep I am your possession Unopened at your feet There's no balance No equality Be still I will not accept defeat ... My fantasy has turned to madness And all my goodness Has turned to badness My need to possess you Has consumed my soul My life is trembling I have no control I hereby dedicate the song to all big school douchebag fans for all time.
-
Really? Making complaints about a 2-10 team is the same as complaining about a 13-0 team in the title game with roster full of 4- and 5-star recruits? Come on, Quoner...you know better than that. Our douches were the ones who were calling for Dickey's head after four bowl games. I guess to me a douche is a fan who can't handle success. Pointing out the failures of your failing team and wanting better is a different ball game altogether. I'd gladly take Garrett Gilbert off of the 'Horn douches hands, so that they would be happier. I'd also take all of their receivers who aren't doing enough to get to the ball for the burnt orange d-bags.
-
Yeah, so if Texas had scored again instead of turning it ouver, do you think Mack Brown would have kicked deep instead of doing an onside to get the ball back? I mean, because the chance of recovering it and then driving for a game-tying field goal or game-winning TD at that point would have been remote, right? Mack would have just ordered his team to quit, so Saban should have done the same? Give me a break. Texas was throwing the ball and playing to win while behind by 10 in the national title game. A 10 point margin against the second best team in the country isn't safe. We've all seen miracle comebacks and so has Saban. He let his offense run the ball to see if they could put the nail in the coffin and they did. Besides, if the Texas defense had just tackled #3 on those dive plays, it wouldn't be an issue.
-
Because they are like any other big school fans - they act like douches. Michigan fans are the same, LSU, etc. Go down the line with any of the big names and you have douchebaggery running rampant in the fan base. Michigan ran off Lloyd Carr. LSU fans are clamoring for Les Miles to be fired. Look just an hour north to OU. Those douches want to run off their freshman quarterback who had better numbers this season than Josh Heupel did during the Sooners' 2000 national championship season. They are constantly wanting to fire this guy or that guy from the coaching staff that gave them seven Big 12 titles and four national championship games in the oughts. They're spoiled, f'ing douchebags. The problem with Texas fans, OU fans, Michigan fans, etc. is that they are drunk on their past. They bang on their own coaches, players, and opposing fans for ridiculous stuff. Here's a prime example of Texas douchebaggery from Hornfans.com. This guy is running down Garrett Gilbert, last year's Gatorade National Player of the Year, because he turned the ball over five times against the best team in college football after being thrown into action due to McCoy's injury: http://forums.hornfans.com/php/wwwthreads/...;o=0&fpart= This Longhorn douche thinks the hit on Colt McCoy should have been a penalty: http://forums.hornfans.com/php/wwwthreads/...;o=0&fpart= Here's a gaggle of 'Horn douches complaining about next season based on last night's game: http://forums.hornfans.com/php/wwwthreads/...;o=0&fpart= You get the same douchebaggery at Soonerfans.com after they lose. They are douchebags because they have no sense or feel for reality. The only exception to the douchebaggery rule I can think of is the Nebraska fanbase.

Maybe if you'd promise to face outward instead of inward....

Many of us have been saying that for years. I think now, though, it'd be too embarassing to invite Texas State up and have them hands our a*ses to us at home. Being the school that has had to stave off losses to Western Kentucky in the fourth quarter for three years in a row is one thing - losing to a full-fledged FCS school at home would be another animal altogether.
-
Lord, this is stupid. Why do you want to dis one of the few people who will still stomach UNT football games in person, in Denton and on the road? The only reason he stands out is because we have so few fans. You see guys wearing hard hats and stuff at other schools and he's just one of several doing it. It's unique. I'm just waiting for him to be like the Jets guy. That will rock. M-E-A-N G-R-E-E-N! Mean! Green! Mean! Green!

That's because when he's on, no one listens. His tu douchebaggery is one thing, but it's his "white guy that likes rap and is down with the NBA" that annoyed me the one time I listened to him. They filled in for the Musers. Elfenbein and the other guy he used to broadcast with, several years ago and sucked up the joint with awful rap music and pop music and worthless NBA chatter. When the Muser returned, I e-mail Jub Jub and begged for them not to let those morons fill in for them again. Of course, Jub Jub defended him. But, I can't recall that they've subbed for them again. Regardless, I hit eject whenever I hear Elfenbein. I'd rather be locked in a closet and forced to listen to Kidd Kraddock for a week than have to hear Elfenbein ball lick the Longhorns and pitch-shifting rap "musicians." Also, I care so little about the NBA that even when he's not on his knees for the 'Horns or slobbering the latest crappy rap track I can't get into it.
