The argument WE WILL SELL OUT AFTER YOU INVITE US has never worked in conference realignment in the entire history of college football. It's like walking up to the hottest girl in the bar and saying I WILL BE GOOD LOOKING IF YOU SLEEP WITH ME.

USF had started breaking in to the top 25 when it was invited and it won around 29 championships in all sports while in CUSA. It had all of UNT's positives *plus* on-field football success and no other college in Tampa competing with it for attention and resources.

UNT would be lucky to be a tertiary player. I can't believe there are fans who think we have a shot to get into the Big 12. Bartender, I'll have what they're drinking.

Apogee is not that uncommon a word. Since it means "highest point" it's a great name for a football stadium.

That's the same question I wanted to ask. I used to be a Ticket P1 and even kept listening when I moved from Dallas to Florida in 1997. But these days, whenever I give the station another listen it's got so little actual sports talk I get bored and scan for the next station. Aside from the Great Gordo, there isn't anyone on KTCK who makes non-sports talk entertaining for very long.

This sounds like a con job by the BCS to hide the fact that they've divided the FBS into haves and have nots. If you're not in an auto-bid conference you're not really in the BCS, in my opinion.

Because it's a way for UNT to play a leadership role in sustainable energy, which can pay dividends in attracting students and research in that area. We'll have the first stadium in the world with that distinction.

I'd love to see UTSA and Texas State in the Sun Belt. UNT needs some in-state rivals.

It was our first win over a BCS school since Texas Tech in 1999. That's a victory worth savoring.

UNT fans should appreciate Dickey's accomplishments and move beyond the way things ended for him at our school. His conference winning streak and first bowl victory for UNT in 40 years should be enough to put him alongside Hayden Fry as coaches who had great runs in Denton.

I like that Coach McCarney is doing this. But somebody in the UNT athletic department needs to help him do it on Facebook and Twitter too, because he'll reach a lot more people that way. It looks like he has a Facebook account with 869 friends but I don't see any Wall posts there.

That link claims Georgia Tech has 500,000 more fans than Georgia (1.6 million to 1.1). I can't take anything else seriously after noting that. There are at least five times as many Georgia fans as Georgia Tech fans in the state.

Me too. I see no outcome here that's good for schools in UNT's position. I'd like to see the non-AQ conferences get really creative here and form some kind of umbrella organization. They could schedule each other preferentially and stop laboring under the illusion there will ever be a spot for us at the BCS table.

Does anyone know what McCarney was yelling as the team ran off at halftime? I couldn't tell if he was upset at a ref, upset at his team, or just yelling encouragement to the team.

The faults of Coach Dodge don't matter to me any more. We all already know he wasn't up to the job. I just want to see if the team gets better from week to week under Coach McCarney. As long as there's progress this season I'm happy.
