If UNT had consistent fan support, they'd see how consistently bad this team has been since 2004. It's amazing any fans are showing up. I still have some hope McCarney turns it around, but that's all we have at this point -- hope. The team is 1-3 and still has to play Houston on the road.

I'm happy for Texas State. I was hoping they'd be a conference mate of ours in the Sun Belt, and now I hope we're looking to schedule them in future years. As a UNT fan some of my best memories are the times we beat former SWC schools. Take *that* for not inviting us to the party, ya bums!

To put the $60 million in perspective, Penn State has a budget of $4.3 billion. A seven-year public fundraising campaign ended in 2003 after raising $1.3 billion for the school. Last year was its best ever for donations, at $208 million. The school's athletic budget is $92 million. In 2009-10, the athletic department made $18 million profit. (That's less than what the NCAA called their yearly profit today, I think.) I expect that angry Penn State alumni will donate more than $60 million in response to this.

Penn State is not going to win with walk-ons. This will crush Penn State football for a decade. No top recruit is going to go there for the next four years, which directly impacts the next eight seasons. By the time they're out from under this, they'll have a decade of misery to overcome. O'Brien will be long gone. Like SMU, they may never be a major college football program again.

Alumni who donate significant money don't hate getting perks. They want the perks. That's one of the reasons they give the money! The kind of alumni who would regard special treatment for their donations as "elitism" would never give money.

The WAC died a long time ago in everything but name. It's like a famous rock band that still performs under the name even though all of the original members has left.

Texas State should be glad to get into the Sun Belt. I'm even gladder that we could be three days away from never having to care about Sun Belt issues again.

That was an epic takedown. I haven't seen a beatdown that bad since Tyson-Spinks. To me, the second degree murder charge suggests that something in Zimmerman's story doesn't check out. But we'll see. He'll have his day in court, which is a good thing. You shouldn't be able to shoot an unarmed person walking to their home, claim self defense and get off without an extensive criminal inquiry into your actions.
