The identifier N500AZ indicates the jet is owned by EDL Holdings LLC of Denton, whose principal owner is Don Lovelace. The same corporate address is associated with Lily of the Desert, an aloe vera producer. Lovelace was a co-chair of UNT's baseball steering committee as of last year. From that last link: "UNT officials believe they are close to adding baseball to the school’s lineup of sports largely to the work of Don and Dillon Lovelace."

Littrell to be named UNT HC per Brett McMurphy

The details of his contract are a public record, so I think they could reveal that stuff at the meeting at their discretion. But I'll bet they make Vito FOI it. -
celebrate Odus Mitchell Pavillion and Joe Greene Statue

Next year would be a good time to honor Odus Mitchell. September will be the 60th anniversary of when Mitchell helped integrate UNT's football team, making sure players Abner Haynes and Leon King would be accepted by the team and no trouble occurred. Here's an academic paper on how that went down: http://library.la84.org/SportsLibrary/JSH/JSH1987/JSH1403/jsh1403c.pdf- 63 replies

Littrell to be named UNT HC per Brett McMurphy

I think 2002-04 were great seasons -- going undefeated in your conference is always pretty special -- particularly 2002 since we won a bowl game for the first time since the '50s. Going 9-4 in 2013 and winning another bowl is great too. -

We don't get to argue very often over whether a UNT season was a great one or merely a good one. Proceed. -

That takes some searching. Jerry Moore was 11-11, Bob Tyler 2-9, Corky Nelson 49-51-1*, Dennis Parker 11-21-1, Matt Simon 18-26, Darrel Dickey 42-64, Todd Dodge 6-37, Dan McCarney 22-32 and Mike Canales 3-8. Frye was 40-23-3. Before him in reverse order, we had Rod Rust 29-32-1, Odus Mitchell 122-85-9, Lloyd Russell 3-5, Jack Sisco 74-38-11, John B. Reid 17-18-3, Theron J. Fouts 23-14-2, James W. Sinclair 20-11-2 and J.W. Pender 3-4. So it's the great Odus Mitchell, who got tired of being awesome after 21 years and retired from coaching at age 67. * - We beat Texas. Anyone who tells you different is a damn liar or a Longhorn. -

Thanks for finding those. I couldn't watch any more jibber jabber of Blake sharing his coaching expertise. -

If people keep grilling UNT90 like this I'm going to dig up what we all said on this board when McCarney and Dodge were hired. Those of us who participated in the Fire RV campaign did it because we are sick and tired of losing and RV making excuses. If by chance UNT has made its first good football hire in RV's 14-year tenure at UNT we're not going to hate that. We're going to be as happy as an alcoholic who marries a liquor store owner. -

This is something that needs to be fixed immediately. It's terrible PR for Apogee to host high school playoff games and staff the event so poorly that fans miss the kickoff. If you attended the game and had a bad experience, or you've had one in the past going to a high school game there, please contact President Smatresk and tell him what happened. Here's his contact information: http://president.unt.edu/contact-president-smatresk You also can post a Yelp review of the stadium experience here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/apogee-stadium-denton

Seth Littrell played against UNT in 1998. It was Darrel Dickey's first season as head coach and we lost 37-9 to a John Blake-led Sooners team. Blake's team went 5-6 and he was fired. You can see Littrell get a carry around the 7:20 mark of this video.

If Littrell's salary is $1 million, he'll be the highest paid coach in CUSA. Rick Stockstill at MTSU earns $801K with another $126K in maximum bonuses, per USA Today. -

Fans should be concerned that Littrell won't have the best chance to succeed with RV around. He's got a way of doing things that has not produced success on the field and has not built a strong base of fan support. I think the best course of action is to pair the new leadership in football with new leadership at the AD position.- 124 replies

I was hoping for that, too, but Seth Littrell is a step up from the coaches we've hired in the past in terms of his résumé. He has built exciting offenses at each stop in his career and has four years of Texas coaching experience (as a Texas Tech assistant) and an Oklahoma background that may help us bring some players across the Red River. It's a risk to go with someone young who has never been a head coach, but he's been an OC for five years and the numbers his teams have produced on that side of the ball are impressive. I won't say I'm 100% on board, but I like enough to stick around for next season despite the ass-whip of an AD who's still running the show. -
I don't recall reading that Fritz said anything about the UNT job, good or bad. All that's been reported is that sources claimed he was interested in the Iowa State job: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/dennis-dodd/25388043/willie-fritz-interested-in-leaving-georgia-southern-for-iowa-state I like Fritz as a potential hire. He has Texas head coaching experience and has won everywhere he went. He would know better than most the challenges UNT faces to win in this state.

On the game broadcast, I just watched Mike Canales as the band played "Glory to the Green and White" after the UTEP game. His jaw was clenched before it began and he performed it alongside the team with obvious emotion. I'd share the video if I could get it off my Xfinity DVR. Say what you will about his job performance, but Canales had more love for this school on his way out the door than any UNT head coach I can remember. I hope he gets a head coaching gig somewhere in FCS. Update: Here's the video, filmed off the screen:

The fear isn't just about losing Littrell. It's about the message sent if the coach widely considered to be our choice ends up turning us down. If that happens, RV will have handed the school another black eye by letting his name get out into the press as our presumptive choice.

Given UNT's position in the FBS pecking order, it's in Littrell's best interest to not sign the contract until the day the hire is going to be announced. It keeps his options open as long as possible when an ACC championship win for UNC could make him more valuable.
