  1. On television.
  2. I think you overestimate how much the players think about the AD. The relationship they have to buy into is the one with Littrell.
  3. If he's instituting a culture of accountability, I know who he should start with.
  4. Possibly, but no organization likes a problem that stops people from giving them money.
  5. This is the kind of problem that gives UNT athletics a bad reputation among alumni who want to support it financially. I got so tired of half-assed customer service and other problems I quit the Mean Green Club several years ago. If you're trying to give money to the school and the athletics' website hoses that job, you should complain directly to President Smatresk. Send an email to president@unt.edu and let him know the problems you are experiencing. If you use Twitter, post a complaint to .@UNTPrez -- some organizations pay more attention to complaints on social media. I just called his attention to this topic with this tweet: If a few other people do the same, it might compel him to get it fixed after the holiday.
  6. Tony Mitchell was a projected first round NBA pick when he transferred to UNT. That's a much bigger fish to land, obviously.
  7. If it's a first offense and the victim survives, I think it is likely to be a much shorter sentence than some people here envision. I knew somebody back in high school who killed a young mother while drunk driving and he got less than 10 years' prison.
  8. His stunt is obnoxious, but it looks like he's on solid legal ground because of the First Amendment. I think it's safe to assume that if Denton police could legally stop him it already would have happened. He's amassed 23,000 followers.
  9. If that wasn't an F year for us, I'd hate to see what it took for us to get an F.
  10. You're trying too hard to be offended. Beat writers post tweets like that all the time. It's the 21st century, grandpa.
  11. Cheerleaders are on board for support. Beat writers are there to cover the team, good and bad. If all you want is PR stick to meangreensports.com and don't read the media.
  12. Claiming the piece had "no substance" while admitting you didn't read it is pretty funny. Go read it, dude. It takes a couple minutes tops, and you can drink beer and watch Clemson/Alabama at the same time. That's what I did. Go, Non-Nick Saban Team! Go!
  13. He wrote the piece because he follows UNT football, as a former student who attended games at Apogee in better times. Everything in it is factual. You can't get people to care about the program and only have them talk about it in good times. Part of building a fan base is making people care enough to be mad when we suck. My one quibble with the piece is that he never covered the main reason we stunk. I guess he didn't see the banner.
  14. If people are going to drag UNT90 out for a beating every time he makes a comment, they should get their facts right. He was never Fritz or bust. There were a few other potential coaches that met his criteria of having head coaching experience, experience in Texas and success in a place with limited resources. I think Chris Thomsen was another prospect he liked because of the seven seasons he led Abilene Christian and went 51-21.
  15. I heard that Sidway's out on Fry Street selling the transcript one paragraph at a time to news junkies.
  16. #UNTOUCHABLE is more than a good football slogan. It explains how RV still has a job.
  17. You'd lose that bet. There are enough events that sell out at the Murchison and attract decent crowds at other venues to top one game's football attendance.
  18. They'll probably end up with another Coker type -- someone with a big name from the past who would overlook the low salary for one more shot in FBS. What's Tommy Bowden doing these days?
  19. I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. It depends on the circumstances. How much did the other people in that car know about the shooter's gun and his intentions? After the shooting, though, they would be legally liable if they tried to cover it up.
  20. I think you're too quick to accept failure. Fans of the program should keep banging the drum for a new AD until RV is gone. Keep in mind that Smatresk inherited him and refused to give him a public vote of confidence when asked. It should be possible to persuade him to make a fresh start at the top of athletics. If we don't, I share UNT90's opinion that it will be a huge drag on Littrell's chances for success in Denton.
  21. Speak for yourself. This board supported RV's firing by over 90% in two polls taken in recent months. That tells me a lot of us do care about putting out the dumpster fire as soon as possible.
  22. We've been discussing it here: http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/topic/110666-unt-student-shot-in-head-in-suspected-road-rage-incident/
  23. Tragic, and absolutely senseless. My condolences to her family and friends. I hope police are able to catch the people involved.
  24. The woman who was shot, Sara Mutschlechner, is a football tailgater: https://www.instagram.com/p/8rNrzfygyX/ A Morning News story says she's hospitalized on life support: http://crimeblog.dallasnews.com/2016/01/unt-student-shot-in-head-in-suspected-road-rage-incident.html/
  25. A better question is why so many people care about UNT90's motivations for following the team. He's not alone in thinking we'll be 0-4 or 1-3 after SMU, Bethune-Cookman, Florida and Army. Most people who follow Texas college football would expect that, given our 1-11 season and a new coaching staff. I'd love to see us go 2-2, but Littrell took over a program in a deep hole. Digging out may take some time.
