Thanks for explaining that.

Yes, UNT needs more butts in seats. But bowl attendance isn't just about fan bases not stepping up. There are a lot of bowl games that draw poorly. The Cure Bowl in Orlando got 11,911 to see UTSA and Troy, the Bahamas Bowl got 12,172 to see Miami (No Not That One) and UAB, the Fenway Bowl got around 15,000 to see Cincinnati and Louisville and our Frisco Bowl crowd was 12,221. All of these bowls were created for television and nobody with hair on their nethers grew up watching them.

UNT can't rehire Seth because he blocked our number.

That is admittedly traumatic, but Cracker Barrel serves alcohol now. Get some beer or mimosas and power through it.

Our NIL seems to be doing nil. Maybe there's a reboot coming in reaction to the new Jared Mosley / Eric Morris era.

It would be better to use the count of members who've logged in over the past year for this kind of napkin math. Having a way to donate as part of GMG instead of MGSF would be pretty nice, as long as there wasn't a big skim off the top to support the moderators setting up their own White House of Fornication in Valley Ranch like the Irvin-era Cowboys. Aw, hell. Who am I to deny them that?

That gym reminds me of playing Richardson YMCA basketball. But our crowds were bigger.

Entering the portal gives him a chance to get offered an NIL payday. I wish him the best of luck at another school or the NFL.

The more I see that commercial, the less I want the giddy female narrator to be herself. Why is part of our tier 1 research taking notes while a toddler walks on toys? Leave that kid alone.

Whether coaches keep doing this in P5 probably depends on whether the NCAA starts punishing it. If it doesn't, it'll be one more thing everyone's pressured to do to keep up. The NCAA should have some time on its hands to enforce the no-contact rule now that it doesn't get to police student-athletes getting some money in their pockets.

Eric Morris is Youngest UNT Football Coach in 80 years
rcade replied to rcade's topic in Mean Green Football
Eric Morris is also the first UNT head football coach I could have plausibly fathered, though at age 18 in 1985 I had little time for the ladies because I was dungeon mastering a D&D game on Friday nights. -
If the Heisman was based on being classy Johnny Quinn would've won it four times.

Eric Morris turned 37 last month, which made me wonder where he stands in age among our head coaches at the time they were hired. I put together this table to answer that question. Morris is the youngest head coach we've hired since Lloyd Russell was named in 1942 after Jack Sisco was called up for service in World War II. Most of the coaches hired before the school stopped being North Texas Normal in 1923 were younger than Morris and the exception, J.W. Pender, was also 37 like Morris but slightly older. While looking through a newspaper archive for the date coaches were hired, I found out that when Hayden Fry was hired in December 1972, he was the first coach North Texas ever gave a multi-year contract. SMU had fired him two weeks earlier even though he finished second in the Southwest Conference that season. Fry's comment upon his arrival in Denton: "Everything here will be more than adequate," he said, referring to the number of scholarships and football budget. "It's going to be a tough job, but it can be done. I am intelligent enough to recognize the opportunity to make North Texas into a football power and that is what I intend to do."

I am confused by this post and your response, Mr. Shaft, sir. Is the post saying good riddance to everybody or just Seth? Are you calling the original poster [bleep] or the angry commenters who responded [bleep]? And who is the administration? Smatresk?

The video of that hit is on the ESPN page for the game in the sidebar under a headline about the teams being separated: https://www.espn.com/college-football/playbyplay/_/gameId/401442001 The late hit looked worse than it was. The QB Green foolishly leapt two defenders from a takeoff point where he had no chance of going over them and landed awkwardly at their feet out of bounds. Robertson ran into him while he still was off-balance. Green didn't even get a second foot solidly on the ground before Robertson collided with him. A QB leaping defenders at the sidelines is like one walking the tightrope instead of going out of bounds. If you're trying that hard to continue the play the refs should let the defenders play football too.

I was talking about something else entirely but let's roll with it. Brock Purdy throwing one touchdown and one pick with 204 yards and losing doesn't seem like a draft position changer to me. But who knows? Maybe John Lynch flipped open his Jitterbug that day and said "Move the Cheez-It bowl quarterback up to 262nd position on our draft board."

His turn-ons: Long walks on the beach, the Lord Our God, hard tackles that lead with the shoulder His turn-offs: Judgmental people, Internet message boards, draw plays on third and long

Boise State fans are pretty salty for a team that just achieved the feat of beating the University of North Texas in a bowl game. If he sticks around I still have a few more Boise-themed insults waiting in the Pez dispenser that is my mind.

I don't think it would've looked good for him to interact with them during the game. Don't take away from Bennett and this season's coaches and players.

Bowl game over. Time to get back to arguing about a player I'd never heard of from a team I don't follow.
-
I'll be shocked if he's drafted. Is it still possible for a college player to declare for the draft, not get picked and come back to college? Because I'm not emotionally equipped to handle that possibility.

I just watched it again and don't think PB was giving him any guff. It was a weird conversation. The other coach walked away and PB said something that made him turn around. Then a Boise assistant gave PB a friendly chest pat. It almost looked like they were talking about how to get the teams to exit in different directions. After the coaches talked a Boise player poured Gatorade on their coach and then threw the empty cooler 15 feet into a crowd of teammates. Not the brightest move.
