  1. Yes, the defense has been bad and probably cost us 1-3 wins. But I have trouble appreciating Aune's historic numbers when he's been chasing stats all season by going long, even when better options were available. He was playing for the draft.
  2. He's not far off from getting full Social Security.
  3. Our late hit was because the quarterback got knocked out of the sky and landed right in front of a Mean Green defender. I demand a recount.
  4. If you keep leaping people you're going to get hit and land awkwardly. That's what started this, not a cheap shot.
  5. My sister's at the game and a drunk UNT fan in Section 126 has been heckling Boise State with authentic frontier gibberish. He just called them Applesauce Sally and made "nom nom nom" noises because they look like Cookie Monster. If that's not a GoMeanGreen member I'll be disappointed.
  6. That kicker hits harder than Boise's linebackers.
  7. Damn. The defense that got the coach replaced just showed up.
  8. It's about having fun and turning the opponent's joy to ashes in their mouth. Then they'll know the debt is paid.
  9. "Austin I am sorry I only complimented you on the passes you threw to your own team. I should've been nicer to you since we were freshmen together at UNT in 1985." P.s. Nice touchdown drive!
  10. He was the best of Aunes, he was the worst of Aunes.
  11. Austin Aune you can quit this bowl game at any time to protect your NFL prospects. We'll be OK. Honest.
  12. Many things will be said of Phil Bennett's time at UNT. One of them is that he was a great easy Halloween costume. Bright yellow hoodie and a laminated sheet tucked all the way to the nethers.
  13. I wouldn't say they owe fans nothing. They may owe us a lot less than we think, but the sport they play generates massive revenue because millions of us watch it. And because of NIL they can now enjoy a little of that sweet sweet cheddar while still in college. To put it another way, leaving after a single year is a smart career move for a lot of college basketball stars, but does any fan like the sport today as much as when staying three or four years was the norm?
  14. If he told the team beforehand he wasn't playing and still was invited to go, great. If not and he sprung it on everybody, I still say boo. Boo! Hiss!
  15. Don't know why round two would be your cutoff. A lot of players drafted lower still sign a fat multi-year contract they have a chance to earn if they play well. Brock Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant this year and he got a four-year $3.7 million deal with a $77,000 signing bonus.
  16. I'm a big believer in college players exercising their freedom, even if it makes the sport less enjoyable as a fan. But enjoying all the perks of a bowl trip and then choosing at the last second not to play is sorry-ass behavior.
  17. Same. Santa delivered for me today big time.
  18. No one's going to remember how future AAC teams did against G5 teams in this bowl season. The only stat that endures is conference bowl records, so all UTSA did by going Birds Down today was to leave a mess behind in CUSA's toilet without even lighting a match.
  19. This post just elevated me to Mentor rank on GoMeanGreen. I'm kind of a big deal.
  20. The NIL is a harsh mistress.
  21. Hayden Fly is going to pull it low and let it show.
  22. To me, there was no scenario in which keeping Littrell made sense after the CUSA championship stomping. So no matter who we hired, that was going to be a better move than keeping Littrell. Head coaches are like Bathroom Monkeys. When one has no more cleaning power, drop it in the bin and order a new one.
  23. Gotta get my opinion down so it goes on my permanent record at GoMeanGreen. I was hoping for UNT to hire somebody with head coaching success in the FBS -- and preferably in the P5. Justin Fuente was at the top of my list. Eric Morris isn't that guy. He's another 37-year-old looking to make his bones like Seth Littrell was in 2015. There are positives about Morris that make me cautiously optimistic, but in telling friends about the hire I keep leaning really hard on one fact like it was my Stuart Smalley daily affirmation: "He recruited Patrick Mahomes." Please let Morris be so excited in front of the media that Jeff Traylor thinks he should dial it down a notch.
