  1. No biggee?
  2. Even if Tune was hurt, I'd rather see the team direct snap to the running back than blow up an entire season of eligibility for Derek Thompson.
  3. Delete. The discussion is here: http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49945
  4. I don't think Dodge is going to get fired.
  5. I've seen enough to think we need a coaching change.
  6. Stupid question. As for people bashing Dodge at every turn, what has the team accomplished that does not merit criticism? Surely you are not happy with the results he is getting.
  7. With all the talk of Dodge crying after games -- I didn't hear the shows, so I don't know if it's true -- it makes me wonder whether he can handle adversity. It's not like he faced much of it coaching high school.
  8. As long as we're comparing Dickey and Dodge, it's worth pointing this out: Dodge is 5-30 in his first 35 games with UNT, with wins over Western Kentucky (three times), Ball State, Louisiana-Monroe and 11 losses of 30 or more points. Dickey was 8-27 at the same point in his tenure, with wins over Boise State (twice), New Mexico State (twice), Louisiana-Lafayette, Nevada, Samford and Texas Tech, and two losses of 30 or more points. Dickey started out much better than Dodge. His teams were almost never blown out and he had a few high-profile wins against Texas Tech and Boise State.
  9. She's not really leaving -- just getting out from that show deal and starting her own daily show on OWN -- the Oprah cable network. There's no escape.
  10. Black couples were winning homecoming court for all the years I went to UNT.
  11. This hardly seems like a specific failing of UNT. I went to four schools and was involved in student government at all four. They all caused some trouble and got some publicity, not all of it welcomed by the university community. But so what? The way some people are talking about how this reflects poorly on UNT sounds like their own inferiority complex about the school. UNT is not going to be affected one iota by this in the long run. It's a freaking homecoming controversy.
  12. I don't see why this is a big deal. So what if the media covered it because the idea of a same-sex homecoming couple is a novelty. Next week the Virgin Mary will appear on a taco supreme and it will be forgotten by 99.99 percent of the population. If students want to elect a same-sex couple to homecoming court, they should be able to do that. It's an award of their choosing. When I was a student, several friends tried to elect Hector the Eagle Dog and Agnes the Squirrel as the homecoming king and queen. Sadly, they lost.
  13. This seems laughably paranoid to me. A coach recruiting against UNT has so many arrows to sling against the school -- the facilities, the record, Coach Dodge's ineptitude, the Sun Belt -- that he would never need to resort to an appeal to homophobia.
  14. There's no such thing as a pseudo-fan of North Texas. Anyone who is still around after all these years of misery is a fan.
  15. That's our problem right there. North Texas is climbing a mountain looking for a corner to turn.
  16. RV isn't going anywhere. He landed the new stadium and outside of football the state of UNT athletics is good. You wouldn't want to drop an AD in the middle of the stadium project, and it's probably a reason why Dodge will be the first coach to lead a team in it. This would be a lousy time to start over.
  17. That sucks. What kind of person hates on a dog?
  18. In the 11 years since I moved to Florida, I've heard a lot of talk about college football. This is a college football crazy state, going all the way from Florida on down to UCF. I have never -- not one time -- heard anyone give the excuse that an afternoon game hurts attendance. The problem in North Texas isn't the time the games are being played. It's the way we play the games. Most people don't want to see a lousy product.
  19. Brilliant suggestion. If changing our uniforms doesn't make us a better team, we should change our fight song. And as a last result, we should give Scrappy a name that's not so warlike.
  20. The win's great, but it doesn't change the fact that Western Kentucky is a lousy football team that has the nation's longest losing streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision (16 games) and has only beaten one FBS team in its entire history (Middle Tennessee in 2007). So this may be the least worthy team to beat in the entire subdivision.
  21. Members of GoMeanGreen and other alumni were active in the stadium vote effort too. It's great to give the current UNT students credit, because they achieved something that past students weren't able to get done, but a lot of other people were a part of this as well. I don't think this ever happens without the fan support that has been built over the years by GoMeanGreen.
  22. I agree. If Dodge can't win five games this year, I don't see why he deserves any more time. He's been here too long to blame Dickey.
  23. This poster makes a terrific point. Who among the North Texas faithful has not dreamed of the day we could host Fresno State?
  24. This is Dodge's third season. It's ridiculous to blame Dickey for this.
