"What conference are we going to be in next year?" is starting to feel like another "what players are going to play for us next year?" College football has taken a jackhammer to the entire foundation of the sport.

When I lived in Denver for a year I don't remember anybody talking about Colorado State football. Some of this may have been because it was during Bill McCartney's epic run at Colorado and Sonny Lubick was just starting to lift Colorado State out of mediocrity, but Fort Collins is 75 miles from Denver and not part of the Denver area (yet?). The Rams are a good program, though. I'd love to see UNT get a home and home with them. The last time they played Lubick's team beat UNT in the New Orleans Bowl in 2001.

The new PAC-12 *is* a G5 conference.

I wonder how many of these athletes had a realistic idea of how much playing time they'd get at their new schools. Seems like a lot of them just ride the pine. Even with the bigger payday that would be a bummer. You don't get to play college football for long.

Nobody is being cute and funny this week, I wonder why?

So you think we're cute and funny on other weeks? I guess that explains why you're here five years after the last time Houston played UNT. You can't quit us. -

"And another thing: I'm not mad. Please don't put in the newspaper that I got mad." -
I think they still stop on first downs for that. Saw it when Notre Dame had the ball at the end against Northern Illinois and it seemed like home cooking because the refs took so long to start the clock.

***OFFICIAL UNT vs. SOUTH ALABAMA IN-GAME DISCUSSION***
rcade replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
On TV it looked a lot like our color brick and you also saw as much of it on the sideline as you do at DATCU. Fans leaving en masse at halftime is weird to me. Why did you bother to go if you weren't going to stay for the whole thing? It was a five-point game! This is just like when I was a kid and my dad would drive us from Richardson to Arlington to see a Rangers game and then he wanted to leave in the seventh inning. YOU DROVE A WHOLE HOUR TO GET HERE OLD MAN CAN WE JUST STAY TWO MORE INNINGS DAMMIT. -

Morris had 9 incompletions to Lopez's 23 and ran for 2 TDs to Lopez's 1. I'd give our guy the edge on numbers overall.- 420 replies

Ayo Adeyi's 1,017 rushing yards last season would look pretty good to a lot of RBs thinking about coming to Denton. -

I'm so glad Coach Morris brought in his kid to play quarterback. -

QB TRANSFERS HAVE TAKEN OVER COLLEGE FOOTBALL
rcade replied to Ross Hodgeson's topic in Mean Green Football
It's freaky how many times the announcers on FSU/Georgia Tech said "great play by the transfer from." College football has become Love Boat. Almost everybody is just a guest star. -
See you later, McNeese State!
-
SMU has only beaten TCU four times in the last 20 games they played. Sometimes a big brother takes a break from hitting a little brother because his arm is tired.
-
There are lawyers weighing in with all kinds of hot sports opinions on what is going to happen. SMU fans here were predicting the FSU lawsuit would be dismissed. Instead that lawsuit and counterlawsuits are proceeding in Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina and the attorneys general in all three states are involved. Anyone who is certain about the outcome of all of that, and that it will definitely help their school, is doing more wishing than thinking.

Your avatar shows why uniform design matters. Put Somebody-Needs-His-Ass-Kicked Scrappy on a helmet and we would destroy opponents.

HelmetHistory.com thinks we're going with a green helmet and a giant diving eagle in 2024. https://www.helmethistory.com/north-texas.html
-
I think this is one of our weaker designs, but I reserve the right to revise my opinion if we win 8 games in it. Is there any football team with a helmet that uses the shape of Texas and looks good?
-
If there was a college football drinking game on when announcers say the words "big play by the transfer from," we'd all die of liver failure. I heard that more during FSU/Georgia Tech than mentions of Guinness and the Irish countryside.

Sources: UConn, Big 12 in early talks for potential membership
rcade replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
I was attending UTA right after that happened. They were so committed to being a basketball school that they played their games in a class building/theater that seated a measly couple thousand. I took introductory astronomy in there. -
My prediction is a 36-team SEC and Big 10 functioning like a collegiate NFL, raking in staggering amounts of money while everybody else is on the outside fighting for tablescraps. And SMU won't be able to buy their way into that club even if they forego all TV revenue until the heat death of the universe.
