  1. In my opinion, SMUt could have and should have made the list TWICE. I remember The Houston Coogs hanging 95 on our Phonie friends in a game not long after coming back from the death penalty. Just thinking about that makes me all warm and fuzzy.
  2. With my superior speed reading skills, I only wasted 8 1/2 minutes. That being said howz about a big group hug? and.......... GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. The Cowboys will be done with theirs in a couple of seasons. Maybe we can rent two or three flatbeds and cart Texas Stadium off to Denton. We can even leave the hole in the roof intact so God can watch his new favorite head coach.
  4. Hey, 40,000 is ABOUT the same as 30,000, isn't it?
  5. Wrong!!! It's North Texas Teachers College. I'm tired of correcting people on this one.
  6. stealth recruiting...out stealth practices...in
  7. They just might since half of their logo is a toilet seat.
  8. I'm going to stick my neck out a little and risk taking this discussion off in another direction entirely but while reading the previous 11 pages, a few thoughts occured to me. I realize I am exposing myself to ridicule here, but what the hell, here goes... As we all know, Jerryworld opens for the Cowboys 2009 season opener meaning that sometime in late December 2008 or January 2009, Texas Stadium officially becomes a white elephant. Obviously, it is an aged facility, in some ways not too gracefully, but it has been updated in many areas also. 2009 has been bandied about as a nice time to open a new stadium at Eagle Point and the city of Irving has a major demolition headache on its schedule, how about this as a possibility? Before this goes any further, I am not proposing a move of Texas Stadium to Denton but in the interest of saving precious funds, what about some sort of salvage operation utilizing reusable hardware from the stadium i.e., seats, plumbing, electronics and so forth? I understand the excavation work remains the same, the superstructure still needs to be built and so on but if some of the outfitting costs could be reduced, what would be the harm in exploring this? Besides, look at the possible positive publicity for the university. Tons of reusable material would not be going to a landfill somewhere, money could be saved, maybe our new stadium could become a reality a little sooner, and North Texas could be hailed as environmental heroes for building a "greener" facility and leaving a smaller carbon footprint. Oh well, whether this is feasible or not, I'll see you in good ol' Fouts this fall.
  9. OK... Screw that, SMU has belittled us for years. They deserve this. Ahhhhhh, nothing like a little SCOREBOARD to enhance your FIGJAM experience.
  10. "Because what's every 18 year olds dream? To play under the bright lights of the Sun Belt for their 1 Bowl Tie in." How many bowl tie ins does CUSA have? How many bowl tie ins does SBC have? How many bowls have our Mean Green played in say, over the past 10 years? How many bowls have the phonies played in say, the last 20 years? I think I'll call SCOREBOARD on them right now.
  11. Stealth depth charting, maybe??? Perhaps the Bills are downplaying Quinn's presence so other NFL teams will be less likely to sign him off their practice squad.
  12. dingdingdingdingdingdingding.... we have a winner in the best idea to date catagory. Surely, it would cost less than $7,000,000 to tear down the stands and end zone bleachers and add a soft dome over the existing field and track. Far less construction time too. Now if I could only come up with that remaining $60,000,000.
  13. That is the worst case of '70's bush I have ever seen.
  14. I loves our beef brisket but I loves even more some slow cooked, dry rub, Memphis pork ribs from Corky's.
  15. I guess this would be a good time to introduce myself a little more formally to our esteemed little group. I also lurked about for quite a while before diving in with a few random posts. In lieu of an extended bio, here's a few things about me that most likely won't put anyone to sleep. I am: A proud 1980 graduate of what was then North Texas State Univ. A long suffering yet loyal Mean Green football/basketball fan A devoted hater of all things Fouts Field An even more devoted hater of all things SMUt A Ticket P1 (day one) Well acquainted with untbowler (and a serious bowler myself, thus the avatar) There's more, but like I said, I'm not trying to put anyone to sleep.
  16. ...or Pasadena...or Miami...or whatever Phoenix suburb the Fiesta Bowl is being played in.
  17. Leader in the clubhouse for post of the year!!!!!
  18. My theory: Folks in Ft. Worth (including the TCU campus) live a more carefree relaxed lifestyle. The absence of sticks up their bums like their University Park counterparts makes it easier for them to simply enjoy the success of a neighboring, yet rival school such as ourselves. I think the SMUt faithful simply buy those cute polo pony shirts a little too tight cutting off blood and oxygen to their cognac soaked brains. Ponyfans.com is the end result of such a sad wardrobe malfunction. Or......maybe SMUt just sucks.
  19. I'd like a rematch with North Carolina. We owe them a little payback for the last time we saw them in '88. Besides, it looks like if you hit them hard enough, they'll bleed.
  20. If you're not down with North Texas, I've got three words for ya... Mean F'n Green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. FINISH... FINISH... FINISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Mean Green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Does a man law apply to this infraction? What are the potential penalties?
  23. I couldn't agree with you more. Not that it is pleasant watching a more talented team throughout the roster than most of their competitors continue to lose close games, I just believe JJ is a salvageable commodity. Let's look at the positives. JJ has proven to be more than competent at evaluating and recruiting talented players. They play an entertaining style of basketball (meltdowns notwithstanding) I just think that with some proper "motivation" from the AD's office and maybe some changes among the assistants, we could have the foundation for a long term sustained series of teams that can challenge for 'belt titles and other post season glories for years to come.
  24. I picked a great game to make my first one of the year. When the crowd came to life after the "stand up" chant, I saw the team really feed off of that and they seemed to lose that "deer in the headlights" look they had from about the 16 minute mark. I do see what some of the grousing over JJ is all about. Whether he called off the dogs after the 21 point lead or the players dialed down the intensity themselves, he needed to put a foot in somebody's backside and get them attacking the rim like they were throughout the first half and early the second. Having a home crowd motivate the players is great but I would expect a little more motivation coming from my own bench. Could this be why we have fared so much worse lately on the road? HMMMMM..... BTW... I didn't see the attendance figures. It seemed like a decent crowd. How many were there?
