  1. Agreed... & a +1 for your suffering reputation.
  2. The downtown rail station is probably a 10 minute or so bus ride from the stadium, maybe a little more with game day traffic but I still think this is a very viable option to reduce congestion on game day. This takes at least a few cars off of 35E and removes a significant # of cars from area parking lots (and Denia streets ). It is something that wouldn't cost much. I'm sure between the university and DCTA, buses could be scrounged up for use. I wonder if a quick e-mail to RV would help matters.
  3. I have a feeling that sooner if not later in the Dan MacCarney era, UNT will be one of the "big schools" competing for those JUCO studs as well as highly regarded high school talent.
  4. One thing that hasn't been brought up is the commuter rail which will link the DART Green Line in Carrollton to the Denton County rail which will reach into Denton. I would think many Southern Denton/Northern Dallas County fans could simply ride the rails into Denton especially if there was a shuttle service from the train station to the stadium. That could potentially reduce the automobile count by a couple hundred or more.
  5. Moreover, with Thompson and his C-USA counterpart, Britton Banowsky, talking about building a strategic alliance between the two conferences, membership changes between the two leagues would have to be handled gingerly. ...which makes UNT a safer choice than SMU, UH, or UTEP to add membership from Texas. It's a best of both worlds scenario where we deliver a large media market, large student body, new and better facilities than most, and a new student fee that will allow for some budget expansion without damaging the alliance proposed between the two conferences.
  6. The McAdow version made me want to go shopping for a raccoon coat and a felt pennant to wave. I like both, I really do but the modern version is a little more upbeat and probably does a better job of getting the crowd on its feet. Final verdict from me: Altered, yes...dumbed down, no.
  7. I have a place in my heart for both versions, but that being said, the new version has a stronger brass presence and to me, does a better job of getting the crowd on its feet. The original version does have more intricate use of the woodwinds and as earlier said, allows the musicians to show their chops more.
  8. My resolution(s) are quite simple... I will continue to be superior in every way to everyone around me.
  9. Please forgive my ignorance here, but I am a bit confused about the "dumbing down" of our fight song. I have seen several references to it in various threads but I'm not sure how exactly it has been "dumbed down". Someone please enlighten me.
  10. Honestly, I'm neither happy nor sad that smoo lost. They are so irrelevent on the local and national stage, the outcome of the game meant very little in the landscape of D1 college football. The McCarney Era will soon overshadow anything June Jones is doing in University Park, and the ponies will still be best remembered for their death penalty experience. ...and yes, I root openly for the service acadamies except when they are playing us and then I still admire them greatly.
  11. Looks like a good compliment to another talented #5 we have on our roster now.
  12. If the game is played at Fouts, can we move the windmills/turbines across the road too?
  13. +1 for your sentiment. I'm not sure beating MAC teams will get our conference more respect, but it can't hurt.
  14. We should absolutely refuse to play t.u. We don't need those donkeys dragging down our RPI numbers. That could kill our BCS rankings!
  15. Right in the middle of the visitors section.
  16. Don't forget a public flogging before he's escorted to the Denton County line and expelled.
  17. ...and never forget our sworn duty to trash all forms of SMUt and UT douchery.
  18. How 'bout we take another crack at Kansas? Payback's a beyotch you know.
  19. He's recruited well in relation to the Sun Belt I know this has been done in another thread but once again, here's the national perception of the Sun Belt as a minor league, no, make that bush league conference. There are several other references in the column about the SBC drawing small crowds, no TV, no real national attention from the media or the BCS conferences. As you can see from the above quote, even his recruiting is qualified by the people he recruits against. I'm really not faulting the columnist, he's just parroting what he reads and hears from his fellow journalists. Frankly, we're very fortunate to have kept JJ as long as we have but I sincerely hope we can land in a higher profile conference sooner than later which will help provide the exposure and obviously $$$ to retain quality coaches like JJ and help him take his recruiting skills to the next level.
  20. Can he bring that #3 receiver from Northwest with him? Great hands, runs routes well, good runner after the catch.
  21. Not trying to put words in eppy's mouth, but what I think he's getting at is, the 'belt is the biggest joke amongst the disrespected non-AQ conferences. Moving up to a stronger AQ conference would still represent an increase in stature for North Texas. Unfortunately, the 'belt is our home for the forseeable future so we'll make of it what we can as UNT once again becomes relevant in FBS football.
  22. Almost worthy of... "The Lakers make the call, all that and next" legendary status
  23. Happy b-day Deep Green!!!
  24. I guess I shamed him into staying. You can all thank me later.
  25. He's a quitter... we don't need quitters!!!
