Quick FYI... Tommy Grady is transferring to the University of Utah. Apparantly he has a former HS football player friend who is going there.
-
Guess it has not been brought to their attention that ropes have been used for public hangings/executions.
-
Oklahoma channel 9 news reported tonight that Tommy Grady wanted to play for a west coast school but did not mention which one. It seems OU still hasn't decided who will quarterback (Romar or Thompson) but Grady was not in the mix.
-
Not sure if this has been mentioned but NMSU has decided to make their Pistol Pete politically correct by removing his six shooter and replacing it with a LASSO! They are also removing the name Pistol and will simply be called Pete.

How Many Out of Conference games ...
posiesnivy replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
My husband works with a man from Louisania who is and has always been a diehard LSU fan and he says that LSU is not as good as everyone says they will be this year. He would not commit to saying NT would win, but he felt it would definately not be a blow out. -
Muts Prez&Sun Belt Rep supports mascot ban
posiesnivy replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Per another thread, an article mentioned that the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma opposed FSU's use of their name, which is entirely wrong. Chief Crawford (I belive that was his name) was interviewed on the news the other night and said that they had voted to support FSU, not oppose. The NCAA needs to check out information they are given before making a decision. Living in Oklahoma and knowing a LOT of Native Americans, I know of no one who has a problem with Mascots and or University Names! -
Bazmom, We haven't met but from one parent to another, congratulations to your son and I hope he has wonderful, successful year. Congratulations to all the players who have made the other watchlists as well.

Getting denton ready for football season
posiesnivy replied to eppy4life's topic in Mean Green Football
In the past, have the players gone out with others to put up posters? This sounds like a good idea. I wonder if the non-participating businesses will still say "No thanks, corporate policy" when looking up at one of the BIG football players. Could make a difference. -

I've recently worked with one of the employees of the OU athletic/academic department and I know for a fact that they do stay on top of the grades and attendance of each athlete. His job was to follow the students and even some times sit in the classroom to make sure they remained there. I thought that was comical but apparantely there was one athlete who I will not mention his name, (transferred back to a Louisania school) who would show up for class then get up and leave.

New Media Guide Suggests All Inside Fouts 30
posiesnivy replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
One point that has been missed about getting into the stadium early is letting the players see how many people are there to support them. They will be finishing up their pre-game warm-ups and believe me, they do look up at the stands. It could be a real psychological boost to know there are a lot of fans already there 30 minutes or so before the game. -
LSU, LSU, LS-WHO(?), BS, BS, BCS(?)...
posiesnivy replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
Only time will tell, but we believe OSU's success was due mainly to Gundy who is now head coach. I'm not sure that Les Miles will have the success at LSU that their fans are hoping for. The current talent there will carry him at least for this year. -
From the parents of an athlete of which we both played sports in High School, we've always instilled an attitude in our children that you always go out and play 110% and leave nothing on the field (or court). It makes no difference who the opponet is because there is always a way to beat them. You give it your best and should you come out on the short end, learn from it and go again. I believe most if not all the players have this attitude or else they would not playing college ball today. I understand your concerns about wanting to keep down injuries, etc. so that we can enter Conference games healthy, but I have a hard time with the idea of playing safe to prepare for the next game. I'm competitive, my husband is competitive and so are our children. We play to win or else why play. Perhaps the players are looking forward to the challenge and I for one will not discourage them from going all out. The game is like a test to see how far they've come and a lesson in where they need to improve both as a team and individuals. Even if they come up short on the scoreboard but have given it their all, they still come out winners. I personally don't like coming up short, but it happens. My gut feeling is, this team will do better than a lot of people give them credit for. As I've said before, they only need to believe in themselves because the talent is there. I don't express opinions often, but this subject needed responding to. I always enjoy reading what everyone has to say and it keeps us in touch with the heartbeat of NT. This basically is the only forum of information we have about the university other than what we get in the mail which really doesn't tell us much.

Okay you got me. Let me re-phrase my comment. We stop at McDonalds for a quick bite to eat, most of the time being a coke and cherry pie. Since this will be our first year to make all the games in Denton, I'm glad to see this post. I'm getting lots of ideas of where to eat either before or after the games. -

We'll be coming from Mustang, Oklahoma about a 2 hour and 45 minute drive. Normally stop in Ardmore to stretch and McDonalds for a quick light meal if we're hungry. Travis tells us he makes the trip in two hours. Not sure that I want to know that! -
Just got back from my first trip to Georgia (Savannah) and it is definately a place I want to go back to. There is so much history there! Anyway, spoke with a couple of the locals and yes, they do support your school. Ran into people from the DFW area, and although they did not go to the NT games, they were keeping up with them and have high hopes for a good season. Also, met a former OU player while in GA, and apparantly he's good friends with the NT Offensive Coordinator and he too had lots of good things to say about the direction the football program is taking. I don't know much about GSU but we certainly enjoyed our trip there and the Southern Hospitality. If you're ever in Savannah, eat at "Lady and Two Sons" for some good down home cookin'.
