Texas is super protective of it's athletes and their egos. They don't allow them to talk to the media if they feel they'll be given anything other than stroke-fest softball pitches. Maybe life is harder outside that bubble. OR, maybe VY's just going through some shit and has to do it on a national stage. Either way, its a great opportunity to make jokes.

UH still serves beer in the stands. Its one of the reasons I enjoy checking out their games! Im sure there are other D-1A programs that still do the same.

Whatever, Gundy had great players left to him when Les Spare opted to coach at Loser State U. If anything GUNDY has been the reason they haven't made more noise in their division. They've blown what, 3 games to Texas where they were up big? They can't finish games. I personally like Gundy, I think he's a good guy and his epic meltdown is one of my all-time favorites, but I don't believe for a second his relative success thus-far has been due to his ability to "red shirt" any more than I believe his inability to get past mediocrity is solely due to not having "his" guys. As for Riley, my opinions have been stated over and over. I dont think he's ready to play QB but if his speed and athletic ability help us win in any capacity, I'm fine with it. Im still all for Vizza being the guy. I dont understand the red shirt deal, but I assume Dodge knows more about what he has on this team than I, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Just this one, because the rest of our game is awful. We have to find a way to win games, period. Our program- in it's current state- is a JOKE. So I guess I agree and disagree with you. Which is a break from my usual total disagreement.

I dunno, getting rocked by crappy Arky and A&M teams isnt any better than losing to decent-to-good BCS teams. I mean honestly, looking at the schedule and the way we played these past couple of weeks (from what I've read), where is our first (if any) win of the season going to come? FIU? WKU?

oh I'll still be there with several friends and family. wouldn't miss a chance to watch a game in my backyard... even if Rice hangs 60 on us.

I've thought about this myself. I find Oklahoma State to be a puzzling situation. In theory, where $$ = success, OSU should be right up among the best (and who knows, maybe they will be this year) and yet every year they have disappointing season after disappointing season. So it's probably more to it than stadiums and money. Just throwing that out there.

Pshhhh, besides beating USC as a 40 point underdog, what has Harbaugh done that was so great? We need to be competitive in these C-USA games, plain and simple. The gap between talent is not that significant.

ha, as funny as it is for me to see A&M below UTEP, I firmly believe A&M could "handle" the Miners just in size alone. 1) Texas 2) TCU - stomped a decent UNM team. Has a chance to claim the #2 spot outright with an improbable but appreciated 'W' over OU. 2b) Texas Tech - Im not yet convinced this defense is all that impressive. Contenders don't give up 24 points to 1AA schools. 4) Houston - defense should be a surprise for a lot of teams this year 5) A&M - a win at UNM would help them hold down the 5 spot 6) Rice - this is as good a team as they've had in a while and they will still get rocked by Texas 7) Baylor - Briles had a rough first game against a strong defense. 8) UTEP - they have to be better than SMU and UNT, right? 9) THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS! WOOOT! Not the worst! 10) SMU - I think Jones will get it going sooner than later, but I think they'll have growing pains like our first year under Dodge

I had a dream last night. We won 30-20. So there's that. I'm not saying you should call Vegas, but it couldn't hurt. Guess we'll find out Saturday if I'm a prophet or just a weird guy that dreams about UNT football games.

That was a very strange game. We scored first on a safety and all but shut them down in the 1st Qtr, then it was off to the races on the back of that badass tight end. Then there was that craptacular 4th and eternity series. Amazing.

ah yes, this one's going to be making the rounds as well. he's such a tool. I think he still has a radio show as well, though I couldn't tell you what station broadcasts it. He wrote some piece basically offering up handjobs to the entire city of Dallas because the Texans (who most believe are still at least a player or two away from making the playoffs) lost a preseason game to the Cowboys (who most would agree should contend of a super bowl), which annoyed several local radio personalities. I literally don't understand how he has a job. Thanks for sharing.

Hey in the game of trying to be funny you win some and lose some. I more closely resemble UNT's last 3 years than that of OU, but I'm just trying to do the best with what I was given. So blame Dickey.

He was also born to an 18 year old mother, so you know, I imagine he has a little bit of compassion regarding the subject. No matter the choice of words, it IS a punishment of sorts to a teenager with plans for their life ahead of them, but that doesnt mean it can't later become a blessing. Personally, I think Obama has shown nothing but class regarding this entire situation and I think CNN needs to lay off trying to drum up drama over it.
