  1. I love this game. College: UNT, first and foremost. For better or worse, its where my money and emotions are spent. Secondary teams include: UH- which was the first college game I ever attended with my dad, an alum. Watched Andre Ware sling it all over the field. UT- I grew up in a longhorn household and I dont really care if that makes me a bandwagon fan or any other derisive term you can think up. I've watched them as long as I can remember. Half my family went there, a few of whom played sports there. That being said, nothing would make me happier than UNT beating them at anything. Even fencing. I even pull for Rice on occasion as well, as its a hometown team and I think its perfectly acceptable to root for the institutions of higher education where you take residence. After all, isnt that what we want for UNT with the residents of Denton? Pro Sports: Is and always will be all things Houston. Texans. Rockets. Astros. Dynamo (that one is a recent development, I actually really enjoy the games). I don't care if we never win another championship in anything, I put on for my city! I still miss the hell out of the Oilers. Im still not over the Comeback- and I probably never will be. My one totally off the wall random rooting interest is Auburn, and I really have no idea why. I just love the way they play defense. I mean, Im not passionate about them- I've never even been (in general, I try to spend as little time as humanly possible in Alabama)- I just love watching them play.
  2. I think you meant "dumberest."
  3. My friend used to pee off his back porch but it killed all the grass so he stopped doing it though Im not sure if it died because of that or if it was something else that caused it and to tell you the truth so much time has passed now I might be wrong about it killing the grass in the first place like maybe it made it grow instead. Anyways, I love Slate and I thought the article was interesting. I tend to agree with you. I don't know why I hadn't thought about whether it really matters or not. There are certainly other checks in place that would make it all but impossible to "rig" an election at that level. This entire McCain campaign seems to have been full of scare tactics (whether legitimate or otherwise) which I think is "diss"appointing.
  4. infinitely.
  5. And just what the hell is that, some sort of hippie/queer website?
  6. I have just two thoughts. 1) if students voted against the fee because of the current record, they are idiots. 2) if this doesnt pass, I wouldn't be surprised to see several people in the Athletics Department jumping ship.
  7. I guess I just have a problem with the governemnt "deciding" for me what I can afford to pay in to support programs, what is deemed "extravagant" and what is considered a "prudent" use of my money- that I earned. I'd prefer to make that decision myself.
  8. would that include a black turtle neck sweater?
  9. Chicken/Egg. There isnt a silver bullet for any economic issue. It's all about balance. You have to have both. My opinion, of course. I don't claim to be an expert- I merely dabbled in it while in school. ha
  10. now he can finally make good on that Rhodes Scholarship offer.
  11. Actually, Im a rat looking for a way off this sinking boat.
  12. Why would I care about the taxes if I make less than 250k? Well, for one, who do you think creates jobs? It isn't the guy that's making 45k per year. Incentive drives the economy. Start removing incentives to obtaining wealth and it will trickle down, from the highest income to the lowest. Then it will affect everyone, not just the "rich." Taxes were 70% pre-Reagan. Im not sure Im interested in seeing a hike like that ever again. Otherwise, what's the point of making any money? Im all for a flat-tax if it could be done right. I've read something like 17% across the board with no exemptions, deductions, etc is the key number. I'd also support people under a certain income level not paying any taxes.
  13. I think epic is the word you're looking for.
  14. Yes, and I imagine the Aggie fanbase would be thrilled to say the same...
  15. So they spent about $400k to raise their average SAT score 10 points?
  16. Isnt black our tertiary color? I thought that came to pass with the newest branding makeover.
  17. Brilliant. Its really an unfortunate thing for my employer that I've now found this site. Productivity approaching zero.
  18. Posters were a hugely influential part of my literate life growing up. My first sentence was "Hang in there."
  19. It might have started there, but I imagine it's probably more so because it is viewed (jokingly) by other schools as a mere extension of HS.
  20. It was originally a public school stadium for HISD.
  21. sounds like a nefarious plot by SMU to foil our plans no but seriously, I wonder who put up the $$ to run it?
  22. so much to be confused about right now.
