  1. That's the very definition of running up the score. Especially since A&M was out of timeouts. IF Im not mistaken, he did it against SMU in 2004 as well. Threw at the endzone 6 times when they were already up 2 scores late in the game... claaasssssss.
  2. Not to slow your unapologetic fellating of Mike Leach, but I'd like to point out to you that Texas has also had all its fair share of come-from-behind victories over the past few years (in far more relevant games), including being down 21 points in the 4th qtr to Ok State on the road, 28 points to the pokes the year before, 12 points in the 4th qtr to USC (the greatest team in the history of forever) for a national title, as well as a 21 point comeback against your uber-man-crush Raiders in 2006. You can bet your ass Leach knows how much time is on the clock. Leach plays like there is 5 minutes left when there are 20 seconds left because he runs up the score. Look no further than his calling a timeout with 24 seconds left to score another TD against A&M... this season.
  3. Actually, I'd like to nominate that as the official theme song of the 2008 season.
  4. I generally dont deal in superlatives, but is this the biggest game between two Texas teams...ever? Both undefeated with a shot at national title in a game that is on primetime national television. Im having a hard time thinking of another of this magnitude. Maybe UNT v SMU. Or UH v UT in 1990.
  5. If I can find a proper scarf, I'll hold your hand and go with you.
  6. good post.
  7. I dont disagree with you. And Im not going to turn the thread into a debate about the legalization of marijuana. I was just commenting that alcohol seems to affect the body more than occasional marijuana use and it has easily destroyed more lives. Thats all. I think its stupid for any of these guys, being Div 1A athletes, to put anything in their body (legal or otherwise) that would negatively affect their on-field performance.
  8. Im guessing its mostly marijuana. Which personally, I dont think is the end of the world. I would think alcohol would have a more detrimental effect on someone physical performance, but what do I know.
  9. Well at least people will know we are Division 1A, regardless of how irrelevant we may be at present.
  10. personally, Im a fan of your threads.
  11. Stickers have certainly worked for other programs, no reason why they cant work at UNT. Ohio State played in the last 2 national championships.
  12. And yet that's exactly what you just did. Well done! I went to the game and I left after the first drive of the second half. Mostly because going to the Tavern and drinking is an infinitely more entertaining way to enjoy homecoming than watching uninspired football. I've given myself a pass from watching bad football after sitting through the entire OU debacle last year and the raping at Rice this year. I don't blame anyone who didnt feel like staying and watching this. Especially when there are so many other things to do in Denton on homecoming weekend.
  13. what was the challenge? I must have missed it in my skim through the article.
  14. The "fall" of the roman empire is the subject of much debate. Many dont believe there was an actual fall, rather Rome just gradually (over centuries) became less relevant. Of course it still existed for over a thousand years while the US is just getting into the mid-200s. Im sure some of the history buffs on this board could expound upon it. I, admittedly, am not an expert by any means. While there are many similarities between the US and Rome, there are also several significant differences. I read a book called "Are We Rome" by Cullen Murphy that I believe did a decent job of highlighting many of them. One difference related to this thread is that Rome couldn't just print up new money or electronically transfer funds. Currency then was made of actual precious metals that had intrinsic value. Our money today does not. Im not sure where this leads us, just pointing out differences.
  15. If people don't start getting more positive, we're never going to win a game!!!!1111
  16. And it will be this weekend! Just like 2001, it will be the first win of a 26 game streak! UNT lives AGAIN!
  17. Good post, good thoughts. Cant disagree. I dont think I'd call in to ask that, but I'd like to think he, being an offensive mind, is already working on this.
  18. Their lone win was over Texas State and SMU's last 2 games have actually been very good for their program. They had both Tulsa and Houston on the ropes late in the games before losing. I'd gladly trade them places.
  19. I agree with you on C. I think you gotta really sell the potential and the future. Tell them they have the unique opportunity to get in on something at the ground level before it really takes off. I'd use phrases like "its just a matter of time." Confidence is always attractive. I think Dodge has it, even if its been shaken a bit this year. I think he still believes he can turn this program around into a winner. If all of that doesnt work, I might suggest a field trip to Asian Tan on Northwest Highway.
  20. I just was about to ask if we could get back to mouni talk instead. Or somehow get this conversation steered toward Nazi germany, then I feel the thread will take a life of its own.
  21. which one of those words references the female dream destination? I'd like to incorporate that into my daily bedroom venacular.
  22. Eh, I think maybe I should refrain. Instead I'll say that Bob McNair is all class. Lets just say I'd be ok if the Titans never won another game, which makes their perfect start all the more frustrating for a Houston Homer like myself.
