  1. Does anyone know if there is precedence for this sort of move at other universities? We always complain about UNT being so small-time in thought and planning, but I wonder if we still groan when things change despite bitching about wanting change. If that makes sense. If not, blame the Maker's Mark.
  2. This is indeed a great idea. Very pretty country in and around all of those fabulous whiskey facilities. Especially in Kentucky. You can also hit up the Corvette museum in Bowling Green. America, dudes. America.
  3. No, Im actually a Dynamo fan. Met several of the players while living in Houston, actually used to sit and watch the games- in their entirety- on TV. Never made it to a game due to conflicts of schedule, but many I my friends were regulars. I actually really dig soccer. My interest started while I was in Spain during the 2002 World Cup. I also recently got into Hockey. There's this entire once foreign world of sports out there that I'm really growing fond of.
  4. Winning might actually work better.
  5. One of the more egregious firings, in my opinion. Dude was pure class about the entire affair as well. I live in Vol country. It's absurd listening to some of the fans of these programs. People think our fans are too harsh... On sports stations in Tennessee they were already talking about whether they needed to start considering options for after Lane Kiffin based on his recruiting violation and other issues fresh out the gate. The guy hasn't even coached a down of football yet. Media and fan scrutiny is small-time outside the big 6 conferences. Related to the original post, I doubt you want to exclude anyone that isn't an ex-football players from becoming sports writers. Writer's write, football players play. This isn't rocket science. Anyone can learn, understand report the basics of the game of football and how it relates to a given team. You don't need first-hand knowledge to do so.
  6. Tuscaloosa is a cool college town with some hella-good BBQ. Very nice campus, good folks. I'll be there. I'd rank this as the top "away" destination on the schedule next year. I don't know that I'd make a special trip just to get to Muncie, but that's just me. If you happened to be in Indy that weekend, however, it would be a worthwhile side-trek to see UNT play. Does anyone know where we play MTSU in 2009?
  7. I like discussions of politics because they are rarely ever divisive, people are always completely rational doing their best to hear out the other person and lastly, it almost always results in someone changing their position once their opponent proves their point.
  8. Helmet sti... ah dammit.
  9. THAT'S FOR THIS BOARD!!1 Riley D., F-T-W. MUAHAHAHAHA
  10. I know H-town backwards and forwards so if you let us know what kind of restaurant she's looking for, I'll throw out some suggestions. Another great resource is Yelp.com. I used it all the time in any new city and it has yet to let me down.
  11. the beach?
  12. How for say!
  13. so young, so angry... damn that rap music
  14. Hallelujah!
  15. Lots of layers. I like it, but I'd be lying if I told you I picked up on it.
  16. A better question might be, what are the odds of a guy who can't do math being able to kick the ass of a guy that can do actuarial science and pass complex probability examinations and what not?
  17. I voted 4-0 because fans being positive is the key to winning. Not Magic Johnson positive... more like Joel Osteen positive. My not jackass response is 1-3. Because honestly, I can't remember the last time UNT won more than one Div 1A OOC game in a season.
  18. Those guys are making a mockery of marriage!
  19. That's just "the way it was", back then. Why am I "talking with finger quotes?" I should be "trying to find a job." Not "sitting" on the computer "reading" this "board". It was a "great Chris Farley sketch", however.
  20. Of course, I wasn't saying these programs all currently had QBs in the NFL, I was speaking historically. If you look up that info, I feel confident you'll find Texas has had more than U-LaLa. USC has had more than Avocado U. Miami sent more QBs to the pros than Guacamole State. Etc. I guess what I'm saying is, H.S. kids with NFL ambition don't wake up and say, Toledo is the place that will jump start my NFL career.
  21. That was more the point I was making, but I see the angle others are taking. There aren't any non-BCS schools that regularly send QBs to the NFL. Whereas programs like USC, Texas, OU, ec have done so consistently. On the flip, that doesn't mean non-BCS schools aren't well-represented in the NFL. Just means it's less common. Interesting discussion.
