  1. exactly which direction would our defense have gone? ha-HA. I'm completely over our offense having problems. This is what annoys me most. Last year, I could deal with the horrid defense. I get it, you have to get the right people in place. But for Todd Dodge to be an offensive wizard-genius-ninja-elf and have the offense incapable of scoring more than 20 points a game (in regulation) is somewhat unsettling. As in, I don't get it.
  2. I was going to type that earlier, then I got major tired-head. It's mostly small parking lots scattered here and there with some people finding green space to set up shop there. It isn't all that easily accessible and most of it is a good hike to the stadium. You'll find much better tailgate setups at most SEC schools and many of the other schools in the Big 12, C-USA, and Sun Belt. JUST SAYING.
  3. As do I. As does everyone. I doubt very seriously there has been anyone that has visited UNT and said "My God, these idiots are making the sound of a crow. haHA. haHA." It's fun. If we were 3-1, this thread wouldn't exist.
  4. One could reasonably assume that if we had been in the SEC for the last 15 years, being a large state school we would attract SEC-caliber talent and would therefore be a pretty good program and would therefore have already had big crowds in a donor-supported and corporately-endorsed new stadium and it would be filled of our own fans. I can't believe I just got sucked into this. Kill me.
  5. I think this is a good point and worth further consideration.
  6. I hope everyone realizes that at every sporting event you attend (including those to which you bring friends and family) you have but a 50-50 chance of leaving unhappy with the outcome. That UNT has only managed 4 wins in 3 years only further serves to underline the importance of embracing the things we can control (the tailgating, the traditions, the camaraderie, the renewal of friendships), rather than riding the ever-uncertain wave of baseless optimism into that black sea of brokenhearted reality.
  7. Given the fact most people in the South (or at least, most people I know) find KKK stereotypes to be quite embarrassing (and inaccurate), I'd assume the former.
  8. I hear Vanderbilt dropped the black stone that kept us out.
  9. something something something, followed by ellipses...
  10. I liken moral victories to showering with one's sister.
  11. I still don't know why NT wasn't considered during the formation of the Big 12.
  12. I'd rank them in the following order: 1. Boise State 2. TCU 3. Houston 4. BYU
  13. If you think Rice is just another Stanford or Ivy league institution with an "SMU" attitude, you clearly don't "get" Rice as an institution. You are, however, entitled to your uninformed opinion. And I'd be careful raking Rice over their "school spirit" and "student involvement" issues. Last I checked, UNT was six times larger and yet only manages to average a couple few more thousand at each home game.
  14. do you think we would score 24 points on Oklahoma State? They lost Clement, Dillard and Casey... pretty tough holes to fill. And I feel sorry for anyone who gets offended by The Mob, Rice's band. It's all in good fun and it makes for a far more entertaining halftime than most college games. If you think what they did to us was bad, you should see the way they give it to UH or other regional rivals.
  15. NOBODY COMES INTO FOUTS AND LEAVES WITH WIN!!!!!1
  16. When you think about it, UH has as good a winning tradition as any other Texas mid-major in almost every sport. That's how they manage to pull big donors. They've also got a lot of Baby Boomers that went to school there during their heyday in the SWC that want nothing more than to return to some form of glory after feeling slighted by Texas and A&M during the formation of the Big 12. This game against Tech should be an exciting one. It will be interesting to see how Tech bounces back and how UH deals with all the hype.
  17. This is very true. The DMN may be a better paper all around, but I'll take the Chronicle's sports section any day over that of the former (even with local ass-hat Richard Justice).
  18. Fact. It's all kinds of frustrating. But I'll save it and see what they do in the off-season. I like the Rangers. They are the only DFW-area team I adopted in my time there, even though they had a pretty bad record most years. But then again, I genuinely love baseball. Maybe DFW is just a Cowboys town. Yes, I realize the Mavericks have developed quite a following over the past 5 years, but I believe that is less related to basketball fans and more related to being apart of something that is "cool". The Cowboys grab all the headlines and rightfully so; they are historically one of the more successful franchises in all of professional sports.
  19. This may be a football state, but there are plenty of baseball fans in Houston that support the local team, averaging about 10k more fans per game than that of the Rangers.
