  1. welcome to my world.
  2. Considering I plan on starting at the Tavern at 11am, I imagine the win some 12 hours later will be only slightly bigger than my poor, decrepit liver.
  3. Ah, here it is. Thank you for not letting me down!
  4. hard pick since in 5 tries, we've never beat them. but I feel good in a special place about this beautiful evening in denton. so a win. and that's all we really need out of it.
  5. agweed
  6. nailed it.
  7. Waterworld. Yeah, I said it. Yawn. *Correction, I didn't read the entire title. So bad it's GOOD? Well, I respectfully remove my contribution. That makes two of them tonight. I'm putting myself on posting probation for the rest of the night. * **F it, I may extend it for the week on charges of gross unfunniness.**
  8. i tink you is correck
  9. I predict ULM holds ASU scoreless in the first half.
  10. well if Troy were to lose a couple and we win out in conference play, I don't see why we can't still be in the hunt for a SBC title and bowl game. Stranger things have happened in the Sun Belt.
  11. This one doesn't sound like it's on TD. So maybe this thread is a bit of a knee-jerk. Plus I'm not sure we're at a place as a program where we're able to call for the coach's head after every loss- especially when we want to build him a bronze statue after every win. Just saaaayiiiinnnn....
  12. Umm... none of this is news, folks. While everyone was hoisting the staff, qb, etc on their shoulders after beating a really terrible Ball State team, anyone who watched the game realized we showed many signs of bad play calls, poor execution, and generally just not getting the job done. "leaving points on the field" is just that and there isn't a column for missed opportunities... nobody cares what you could have done. Unfortunately during the Ohio game, these problems cost us the game. If you can't move the ball 1 yard in 4 plays against a MAC defense, you aren't a good team. Also, MTSU isn't a great team and neither is the Memphis team nor the Maryland team they beat. Our defense is going in the right direction but it needs help from our offense. I don't know if it's play-calling, poor decision making, or an inability to execute...maybe all of the above. In my opinion, Tune is the better passer. He throws a tighter spiral and he can actually see over the DL which I view as a plus. Riley is an incredible athlete and a tremendous source of fire and motivation- so we should use him all over the place in a variety of roles: trick plays, wildcat, whatever the F you want... I'm still just not convinced he's the answer at QB. But hey, I'm just a dude on the internet with no coaching experience that hasn't played football since lining up at safety in 4th grade (which as far as I can tell is pretty much the 'right field' of elementary school football). Let's see how the season plays out before we all jump off the bandwagon everyone was so happy to be a part of when we were 1-0.
  13. Pulaski, Va over Lorman, Miss? This list is B.S.
  14. I'm of the opinion Alabama is the best in the land. I'm also of the opinion Florida's got at least two losses in them. I'm not sure what I think about Texas because I haven't figured out how good the Big 12 is (or perhaps more accurately, isn't). They could win all their games, just as easily as they could lose three of them.
  15. The problem is, every D-1 school in Texas has a big rivalry already established. Houston has Rice. Smu has Tcu. Sure they could add a rival and Houston would be a good one, since none of their former SWC rivals want to recognize them as such. We could probably start something with Arkansas State, but that wouldn't hold much appeal within the state of texas. The best case for us establishing a consistent interstate rivalry would be to get Texas State to move up to the Sun Belt. We've played each other more than anyone else, we're comparably sized, and we both have growing student bodies (and they too have a really attractive crop of coeds). It's an easy drive, we've got history, we share a state- all the ingredients for a good rivalry.
  16. nobody is disputing the greatness of this nation or the availability of resources to help those that want help. Your story is a good one and I applaud you for your efforts. My dad was the first of his family to go to college. He worked, put my family in the position to be able to provide things he never had. All I can speak to is what I experienced living in the poorest, most crime-ridden part of Nashville (which where I originally cited) where most kids I encountered or spoke to on a daily basis are never taught to think or dream higher than getting a job at a f-ing Krystal Burger because "hey, it's a at least a consistent income" never mind the fact that you can't even afford to support yourself on that kind of pay much less take care of the kids of their own they start having at the age of 16 because "hey, that's just what you do". Yeah it's stupid. And yeah, it's ignorant. And yes, much of the blame can go to the parents (or, the mom that is supporting a couple kids by different fathers, with little help, as was the case with at least 3 of my immediate neighbors)... so what do you do? F the kids, they're lazy? It goes a lot deeper than "they're all lazy bums". It's a cycle and it's hard to break. Defeatist mentalities are hard to overcome, especially when they've been entrenched in part of town for decades. Most of the time people bitching about how easy it is to overcome are the ones that don't know a damned thing about it. So if I offended you, that wasn't my intent. But I stand by my statements.
  17. I haven't ever done that, so I'll have to take your word for it. I usually only speak to things which I actually have experienced or know first-hand, which I realize is "crazy talk" on this portion of the board.
  18. You've obviously never lived in an impoverished part of a city. if you had, you'd realize how incredibly stupid and insensitive this statement really is. As for the topic at hand, I find it wildly hilarious people are bitching about Medicare not paying and pointing to that as a failure of the govt when these are probably the same people that would be appalled if the rules for receiving said coverage were relaxed or allowed to encompass a greater portion of the population. Does medicare have the same guidelines for claim denial as the rest, or are do they have more stringent criteria?
  19. I mean, if I really get to pick the perfect outcome, I'll take Troy over MTSU, then us over Troy.
  20. Yes. and, F that guy. We don't need quitters.
  21. Yeah I was there. The fan split was probably 75/25 in favor of UH. And Houston's stadium is a lot nicer than Fouts- mostly because you can actually see the field from the seats.
