  1. I've actually been more interested to know how has daughter has been doing.
  2. Name(s): Eagle1855, Dan Diego, Wayward Texan, The Funniest Guy at the Office, Brant Lee Coaching Experience: I'm engaged to a girl that used to be a softball coach so I guess you could say I've been "in" the business for a little while now. Age: Backside of twenty with no will to climb. Why I'd be a great hire: I have great hair and I'm tall. I understand people. I'm a people person. People like me. I can verb nouns with ease. I believe in John Wayne, Johnny Cash, and Mike Ditka. Defense makes my pants go crazy. I have a PhD in Keeping It Real I can shotgun a beer faster than you. Why I'm better left to real estate-ing, free lancing, day-laboring, bartending, and songwriting: My football career started and ended playing Safety in fourth grade, which as far as I can tell is the "right field" of youth football. As with most things in my mind, I'm probably better in theory than in reality. My standalone mustache-growing ability leaves much to be desired. I can shotgun a beer faster than you. Expected compensation: A handle of Jack following each win Unlimited guacamole A Gibson J-45 1972 Chevy C-10 (2) lifetime passes to UNT Women's Soccer games.
  3. I bet he would wear really fancy mean green suits and hats. That alone warrants consideration.
  4. I don't agree with this headline or the premise of the article.... at least not as it relates to next year. Three or four years down the line? Maybe so. But next year is very much an "if you build it they will come" situation. Additionally, I think with a healthy team and a new coach, there's going to be buzz aplenty surrounding UNT next year. That makes the next hire all the more important. We have a chance now to put UNT football on the map for a long time to come.
  5. If we have but 10k fans at the last game in Fouts, I'll be truly embarrassed of the state of our fan base. Even if we were 0-11 going into that game, I'd be damned sure to make it. That's an historic moment in North Texas history. Love Fouts or hate it, it's where 99% of this boards Mean Green memories were born.
  6. My rooting interests the last few years have gone as follows: Alabama, Florida, LSU, Texas, and USC. I'm also really pulling for Oregon. Maybe Boise State. We'll see how it all shakes out.
  7. Has enough time passed to bring a guy likeTerry Bowden back to Div 1 football?
  8. Yeah I think you'll find him in Houston, coaching the Rice team that's gone 2-0 against us in Dodge's tenure. If you can't beat em, hire em? I like it.
  9. Sure you can't count wins for games that weren't played, but this idea that injuries don't play into losing a football game is ridiculous. I was never a fan of the Dodge hire, even if I think he's a fine person. I've nothing to gain by wishing things worked out differently except a few more wins in the win column and a few less snide remarks by friends that attended schools with actual Division 1 football programs. I'm willing to look at this thing objectively. I think a good offense is part of a good defense and the Clemson game is evidence of that. Maybe the offense scores more points with Tune running the game. Maybe the defense has to do even less work in several of these games; we don't know. I just figure if we can hold the ball for 40 minutes against Clemson, that's probably enough to beat most of the teams on our schedule- especially 3 of the 4 subsequent losses. I also figure a 4-2 team carries a different swagger and different level of confidence than a 1-5 squad, so it would have been nice to see what was possible. This team is done, this year. Dodge will be gone, we'll start fresh in 2011. I'm merely pining for what might have been, this season, as I am every season.
  10. This actually makes sense, intuitively. That's where we've consistently lost the battle with most of the BCS programs we've played- up front. Look at Clemson. Their guys up front were massive, could move our players out of the way as needed for the big plays. A stout d-line can make average CBs into All-Americans.
  11. We should hire Larry Coker. This would satisfy the big name hard-on our fanbase is sporting while simultaneously sending our newest rivals into a tail-spin (pun in-freaking-tended).
  12. I wish this hire had worked. I hate that so many things seem to have bounced the wrong way, this season. I feel like a 100% healthy team is probably 4-2 at this point.
  13. This is good stuff.
  14. It appears be a "less vibrant" shade of green.
  15. yes, this one was tough. I think the frogs went on to win C-USA. Of course we went on to win the BCS national championship New Orleans Bowl so suck on that, Frog-tards.
  16. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the stadium will be composed mostly of SMU fans. This game, on paper, won't be close. But you never know. I'm pulling for SMU because I'm an a-hole.
  17. Almost nothing beats a well-endowed university. I'm green with envy.
  18. really REALLY enjoying what's going on in this thread.
  19. FINALLY a winnable game.
  20. Was that for dropping the C bomb? Anyways, I'm with you on this game. It was brutal to witness. Fortunately I had good company at Buffalo Wild Wings in North Austin. I witnessed the Rice game first-hand, which was also miserable, but that game was one that just seemed to get out of hand on account of stupid mistakes by players in the second (i think?) year of the dodge experience. These things happen in college sports (see the lopsided Texas-OU blowouts). This one just felt like a give up, with no hope in sight. Still love the mean green... but the light at the end of the tunnel is ever-dimming.
  21. I haven't any interest in leaving a league of semi-established upstarts and leftovers to start another league with other upstarts and leftovers and added travel expenses. So no, we're not warming up to it. At Camp Eagle1855, we're colder than ever.
  22. Fair enough. Now, thoughts on possible UNT relocating to the WAC?
  23. So you're opposed to Mike Leach coming to UNT?
  24. It seems we have more fan/coach fan/AD altercations/interactions than any other Div 1 University I can think of. Or maybe I just hear it about more because it is my Alma Mater. Either way, it's weird.
