  1. If feel like if there's a place for Patrick Cobbs on a pro team, you'd think there would also be one for Dunbar, too. I don't know Dunbar, but I do know Patrick Cobbs has a ridiculous work ethic- which is one of the things that impressed several teams and I believe a large part of why he's made it in the NFL.
  2. So as a few of you know, and most of you don't, I'm a musician of the singer-songwriter variety. I released my very first album on January 18th, which is titled "Old Denton Roads", a nod to some of the best times of my life and the source of several songs on the album. The songs are alt-country, country, and kind-of-not country. So if you like any of that, you might like it. (If you don't like it, don't tell me... I have a fragile ego) OMG how is this football-related? Okay, chill; I'm getting to that. As I was saying, I loved Denton and my time at UNT. So naturally, when I finished the album I wanted to think of a way to give back. Since I spend a good amount of my internet free-time on this fabulous resource we know as GMG, I figured this would be a solid way to realize that ambition. Andrew Smith was QB during my last years at UNT. It was a profound loss by the entire Mean Green community, as well as many families, friends, and his home town. I'd love to donate to this worthy cause, but I'm a cliche, broke, wandering musician. What I can do is donate my craft. I'll donate EVERY cent I make from downloads from CD Baby for the rest of this month. CD Baby offers me a rate of 70 cents on each dollar sold through their website- the highest of the online retailers. It also has the quickest turnaround for payment. So downloading an album ($10) results in a $7 donation to the Andrew Smith Memorial Fund. To download go to http://www.cdbaby.co...rantleecroucher I'll provide complete transparency to the board throughout the process. The sale will commence today and run through April 30. Thanks for your time, support of local independent music, UNT Athletics, and GMG! -Brant '03
  3. Oh great. When was the last time we hired a coach with true division one experience, upgraded our facilities, or made a serious contract extension offer to lock down a coach that has taken a program to unprecedented success and elevated the expectations of its fans? Wake me up when this Athletic Department gets serious about being big time.
  4. Notice no Big 12 teams made the list. Not surprising, really. While the Big 12 may often be overrated on the field, most of their stadiums and off-field game-day experiences are not. I've been to many different Big 12 stadiums (often as a timid green lamb to the slaughter) and I think their game-day atmospheres are generally among the best in the nation, this side of the SEC (lone exception Baylor). Having never set foot in Kansas nor Iowa, I can't offer an opinion on those schools. Other Texas schools not named UNT that I've enjoyed include UH- which has really raised the tailgating bar the last few years- and Texas State.
  5. It's working now. I love the subtle jabs about needing improvement, not one to pull punches. I like this coach as much as you can like a coach who you've not seen coach a down of real game football.
  6. That works fine. I'm not interested in getting married, and by the time she figures that out, it should mesh up perfectly with your few-year plan.
  7. Today is April 1. Just saying.
  8. I say tear it down and start over whenever we see that we're actually committed to being a successful Division 1 program.
  9. Yeah, yeah, premeditated murder, blah blah... but stealing money from large corporations...there's just no place for that.
  10. And if BBQ, can you tell us which place in Texas you prefer to do this? (mods please merge threads)
  11. Texas State is playing Texas Tech at home? Are they moving that game to DKR?
  12. Franklin's is veeeery solid. As is Ironworks. City Meat Market in Giddings is pretty good. Cooper's in Llano Goode Company in Houston has the best Pecan Pie. Salt Lick is an experience unto itself, but after living down that way, I grew bored of it with a certain quickness. Other thoughts: I miss Steve's in Denton. Rudy's is Texas' most overrated BBQ joint. Mediocrity at its best!
  13. What's a UTSA?
  14. In other news, the Sun Belt just isn't that good.
  15. Hell if I know, I think both parties suck.
  16. I like to think we have a president who can accomplish all of these things. I mean, my bracket took all of 10 minutes (but I mostly picked based on which mascots I thought were cutest) and a round of golf takes me about 5 hours (and about 140 strokes) so that leaves a whole hell of a lot of time to work on the rest of the country and world.
  17. Related to the topic at hand, this guy had to know what he was getting into. A song downloaded here or there is one thing, but TV stations spend a ton of cash to produce what they make and the value of their content is measured in viewers and therefore, advertising. From what I understand, Channelsurfing undermines all of that. I can't believe it was around as long as it was.
  18. Uh, you mean before they bombed Pearl Harbor.
  19. Mike Rozier was awesome.
  20. C-USA sounds good, but let's suppose Texas State, UTSA, and perhaps another regional rival head to a viable form of the WAC. Is that something we have to consider? Just looking for some opinions.
  21. This video alone will likely keep us from Tier 1 status and most certainly from gaining admission into the Big 12.
  22. I rarely ever see flyers posted on campus. If kids don't know about the games, how will they get inside the building?
  23. Hanging out with real people is completely overrated.
