I'm related to several and dating another, all with degrees from UT. Does that make me a douche by association? On a serious-er note, wish I'd known about this, as I totally would have shown up; I'm a media whore.

Also, I want a baseball team. Please. That's one thing that really hurts us, in my opinion.

It's time to stop pretending we're that much different than UH. They've got a little bit of history on their side and a head start, but there's no reason we shouldn't view them as a peer institution on just about every level. Texas Tech, too. Without the Big 12, Tech wouldn't have ever enjoyed the successes they have. Texas State and UTSA are nowhere near UH or Tech's caliber in anything so why people continue to worry about either of these schools or programs is beyond me. I'm glad for Texas State and UTSA's fans, but we should set our sights higher.

Ugh and the fraternity guys. Frat guys are the WORST. But on a serious note...I'm so ready for tailgating, UNT football, cooking out, fall air, live music... I can almost hear/smell/taste/see/feel it.

for whatever it's worth, assuming this to be true, I love it. If Alabama is cheap looking crap, I'm the human equivalent of a walmart superstore.

I chose UNT because of the Mascot and the Dancers, so this is all hitting a little too close to home, right now.

Their younger fan base is a lot like ours- except they get to celebrate wins with much greater frequency. The older alums (like my dad) all pine for the glory days of the SWC and will gladly talk to you about why they should have been included in the Big 12 and how Texas and A&M kept them out of it. Which again, sounds a lot like us (cough...SMU...cough)... I attend a few UH games every year. My favorite had to be the win over Texas Tech a couple years ago. That was one of the best games I've ever witnessed. Place was as loud as Robertson's probably ever been. I love hyperbole.

Man, we actually look like a college team in those uniforms. (fire away)

I kind of like it. That's just an opinion, so don't give me negative 1's; it will throw off my self-esteem for the entire day.

Hate to be "that guy" but projecting impact NFL players is at best an inexact science. Texans 2010 All-Pro and Pro-Bowl selection Arian Foster was an UFA in 2009. It's all about the system and a team's needs. I imagine a team will find space for a guy like Dunbar, whether drafted or otherwise.

This. While living in Tennessee, I found that everyone else had a different idea as to the meaning of the letters UT. I say North Texas. When they ask what that is, I say a big-ass school in Texas that would probably blow your mind.

Unless anyone has any objections, I'm going to extend this through next month, too. Couple student groups caught word of it and I'd like to maximize any potential.
