  1. Didn't UAB try to hire Jimbo Fisher a few years ago, and their BOT nixed that, too? Said the salary was too high (while paying Saban $4MM).
  2. Nothing- we just aren't very good.
  3. Yeah, 'cause this thread is such a brilliant idea.
  4. Here's where I do agree with you: we'll have to start recruiting outside of Texas. We now have 7 programs ahead of us in the pecking order for recruits just in our state ALONE, never mind the rest of the programs in the Big 12 and the SEC. Texas Tech and Baylor have got to be really bummed about this whole TCU and UH thing. Oh you mean we don't have to go to Waco or Lubbock and we can still play BCS football? Awesome.
  5. Maybe, of course then we're battling with two BCS schools in our own back yard and another one in Houston, as well as the other four that already reside in Texas. So...7 of the (current) 10 D-1A programs in Texas will be affiliated with one of 3 different BCS conferences. Tough roads ahead, I imagine. I may be the only one that thinks UH and SMU getting invites was the worst thing in the world that could have happened to us, but I stand by it.
  6. By 4pm Saturday, they'll realize it was UNT that screwed their homecoming.
  7. This post is the winner (and I just read all of them).
  8. I was at that game, too. And the 79-10 OU game. And the 65-0 UT game. Kermit was right: it ain't easy being Green.
  9. Scott Hall had a lot more talent around him on both sides of the ball. Hall was great because he was good at not making bad decisions. He also had a world-class run game and first rate defense. We don't have any of those things right now. I know everyone wants to win big now, but we are at least not losing games in which we should be competitive. This staff knows what they are doing, it's just going to take more than 8 games to unsink the Titanic.
  10. Worst game of my UNT college life. I was so excited to have our football team in town. And then... oh the horror.
  11. You mean when he beat the Miami Dolphins?
  12. Well done, sir.
  13. Agreed. Let's grab this bit and run with it. Get the students involved like the idiots out in lubbock did with leach and the pirates. It's a great way to get behind the coach.
  14. I promised a friend that if we beat Bama, I'd get one. But alas, I didn't get to do it. The day we ever beat a top-5 team will be the day I get one. Now it's on the interweb for all to see.
  15. And I think it's paid off in the Win column. I believe that at the end of the year this team will be significantly better than it was when the season started.
  16. They are sparkling pools of infinite wisdom.
  17. BBA Economics '03. Systems process merger consultant for web-based Fortune 500 multi-national logistical system processing firm's asset management and procurement division. Just kidding, I'm a broke-ass singer/songwriter.
  18. Sometimes I hate you but I always love you.
  19. I like where you're headed. More death + More drama = More fans. Formula is so simple. Is anyone at Eagle Point listening?
  20. I truly hate the state of college sports.
  21. Mer-man. Mer-MAN.
  22. Any time the University needs people to show up for anything, they go to the Greeks. It's true. It's the most accessible, largest group on campus. And there are tons of things every week that members are expected to do, that are made mandatory "for the best interest of the University." Hell, we had mandatory basketball games when we were in school, because the basketball team couldnt get anyone out. Who do you think made all those massive floats for the parade? Who do you think PAID for them? That stuff takes countless hours on top of every other responsibility people have (and as someone who spent three weeks doing it one year, it totally sucks), it doesn't just happen. I get the "yall can do better" card, but there sure seems to be very little grace and a whole lot of grief handed out on this board over the fact that a handful of people, on a day when a lot of people came out to tailgate to spend time with friends and family, elected to keep the party going on the hill in advance of the Rangers game instead of watching a then 2-5 team. I think they all missed a terrific time in the stadium (I had a BLAST) but that's their deal. Once this team starts winning and doing so consistently, all of this will be resolved. Until then, why get all snarky with other members? I bet there are as many Greek-affiliated members as non-Greek on this board. Why be dicks to each other by making stupid generalizations?
