  1. Oh I don't know about that. A loss is a loss. A win is a win. Doesn't matter who they beat, they can sell a winning program to recruits. And that's all it takes.
  2. Can he? Will he?
  3. Well I'll be there for it and I'm excited as hell about it.
  4. Newsflash: we're not a good football team and we haven't BEEN a good football team in a really long time. And we're apparently the only people that don't know that. Celebrating good losses is loser-speak. No one remembers, nor cares about what our team "almost" did that one time. But this is still MY team. And I believe in this coach and his staff, and I haven't been able to say that for as long as I've followed UNT football. We are only four games into the second year with McCarney! There's more recruiting, teaching, and learning to be done. Yeah, it's a tough loss. And yeah, it sucks. But we move on. We've got a pair of great opportunities to get back to .500 and make something of this season. See errrbody in Houston.
  5. To answer the question posted in the title, yes, they can. I don't know why people insist on piling on our students, fans, etc at any and every chance they get. Someone else is having success? Let's go post on the Mean Green board wondering why we don't have success and then lament how crappy our _________ is compared to that of __________. Good grief. Go out and enjoy game day today!
  6. Are you implying that the coaching staff has been watching game film and has a good idea of what their next opponent intends to do, and will likely plan accordingly? Because that sounds just crazy enough to work.
  7. Honestly, I'm still pretty maniacally bitter about Todd Dodge and it's taken way longer than I thought to wear off.
  8. Ah, okay, I was under the assumption we were talking about college football fans, not the casual observer, or fans of X program. Outside that context, of course it would be relegated to regional status. No one I work with knows or cares a thing about most sports. If I told them we beat Texas, they'd say "at what?" and I'd die a little. To the point of the original post, beating Kentucky is purely a regionally-significant victory in anything other than basketball, and probably not analogous to defeating Texas in football.
  9. I see what you're saying- and I agree- but I think beating Texas (and Texas alone) definitely moves the needle in Southern California, as well as in my pants. If SJSU upset USC, we'd definitely be talking about here in the Greater State.
  10. Mutual assured destruction.
  11. Jeez, I have a degree in Economics and this article still made my head hurt.
  12. This is awesome. Hadn't heard of it, but will definitely be making use of it.
  13. I'd love to get to a point where I got this worked up about anything
  14. I wasnt really worried as much about not being able to throw against LSU- that's one of those teams that will give everyone's passing game fits. But if ever there was a time to load up the passing stats, it would have been last weekend against Texas Southern. And we flat-out didn't perform. It won't get any easier. That alone is my reason for not having much confidence (as a fan) going into Manhattan. To upset, you've got to have a multi-faceted attack. But here's to hoping I'm wrong.
  15. And THAT, my friend, is how Boise State built their legacy. Thought we might do it with what started in 2002 and 2003, but alas, ran out of steam.
  16. Yes, but what you've not considered is the fact that I'm tall and have flowing brown locks of hair and play guitar, and therefore have no use for facts.
  17. False. Good day, sir.
  18. I tend to agree. I think this game is worse than the LSU game. However, I'd like to point out that if we beat KSU this weekend, I'm getting a Flying Worm tattoo. Win or lose, I'll be hungover on Sunday. As per.
  19. Meeting admissions requirements to does not necessarily mean you'll get accepted. 62% of applicants to UNT were accepted. 82% of applicants to UTSA were accepted. We are a more selective university than UTSA, UH, Texas State, Texas Tech, and many others.
  20. What is the admissions criteria at UTSA? Being able to fill out an application?
  21. Plus, watching SEC teams lose to teams they should beat handily is always funny.
  22. Agreed. It should be Texas State. We've played them (and they've played us) more than we have any other program. There's your built-in tradition.
  23. Was basically typing the same thing. The next time UTSA beats a team that matters will be the first time. Everyone on that list would be 3-0 with the first 3 games of their schedule.
