  1. As far as our QB play goes is as far as we go. So I have absolutely no idea how good or bad we'll be this season. Though I've been well-conditioned for the latter. But I'm excited about it all the same.
  2. My 2013 Texas Pre-season Power Poll (for anyone who cares). 1. Texas A&M 2. Baylor 3. TCU 4. Texas 5. Texas Tech 6. Houston 7. Rice 8. SMU 9-13. A toss-up between Texas State, UTEP, North Texas, UTSA and yes, Sam Houston
  3. Yup. ODU's addition was comical. And them suggesting future members based on their geographical location is a riot.
  4. I'd be more excited about the addition of the Miami market if it wasn't one of the worst sports towns in America.
  5. I thought the campus was dull and somewhat depressing when I arrived in the summer of 1999 for orientation. It was hotter than hell and they had us in one of those older dorms that back up to the hideous aforementioned shopping center. Fortunately, I didn't choose college for aesthetic appeal (just as I wasn't selecting a college based on athletic prowess...obviously). But the campus has changed a lot since then. Tremendous progress has been made and it makes it a joy to visit these days. I cant wait to see how it takes shape in over the next five, ten years. And yeah... long past time for Sack n Save to go away.
  6. It's hard to be legit and still pay the rent.
  7. When I said better, I meant the level of on-field performance is a push with the SBC- especially with Tulsa leaving. As for the rest, I agree with you.
  8. I'd be fine with adding ULL and Texas State, though I'm not sure what La Tech and USM would think about ULL. In that event, I'd be glad to welcome back NMSU or Ark State. This conference isn't any better than the one we left. But I like that we get to play conference games inside the State of Texas, and I'd welcome another one in San Marcos.
  9. A good man, wrapped in many of my early memories of football, both at U of H and with the Oilers. May he rest in peace.
  10. Can we just get the old gang from the '68 MVC back together?
  11. Agreed, 100%.
  12. I don't think anyone would argue with this point. It's our #1 problem.
  13. We'd still join this conference in a heartbeat. If only.
  14. Ditto. Simple, classic, representative of who we were and who we are.
  15. Sorry, this conference is a joke. Once Southern Miss goes, it's us and a bunch of startups. Again. Except we've swapped ULM for La Tech. Yippee! People can tell themselves it doesn't matter until they are blue in the face, but losing Tulane, Tulsa, and (eventually) Southern Miss marks the exodus of the last remaining "brands" in CUSA- the reason we joined it in the first place. How long til UTEP goes MWC and Rice joins the rest of the private schools?
  16. Yes, that makes a lot more sense. Also, doesn't help the conference much at all, in my opinion. Which admittedly is worth about as much I was paid to type it.
  17. Heard former UH/UT basketball coach Tom Penders on the radio in Houston, yesterday. Said that he thinks it's going to be a very strong conference and that they have a good chance of adding Georgia Tech, which I found to be HILARIOUS. GT will be in the Big XII long before it considers the A-1.
  18. Yes. This is one I've been looking forward to since I first saw it on the schedule. Athens is supposed to be a fantastic college town with a great music scene.
  19. A-vo-CA-do *clap* *clap* *clap-clap-clap* AU is where it's at, this year.
  20. Passes to the man... and boom goes the dynamite. Wait, do people still say that? I'll hang up and listen. Sincerely, Not Hip in Houston
  21. True, assuming opposing coaches don't read this. *fingers crossed*
