  1. I like this. And I agree. This team has something to it. They make plays. They expect to win. This is fun. Also, huge fan of your avatar.
  2. I'd be tempted to put Houston ahead of Tech (their only loss was by 1-point to a 6-2 BYU squad). I'd call NT and TCU a wash -- which isn't a bad place to be. I just keep thinking what life would look like if we'd knocked off Tulane and completed the final drive against Ohio. In both cases, our offense fell short. Which is why I believe we'd struggle in the Big XII.
  3. I'd love to think that. Had we opened against Texas (or played them around the time we played UGA) I think we'd have had an honest shot. But their defense is playing markedly better since the open of the season and I think if we'd played them the same time as TCU, our offense would be lucky to gain 200 yards -- which I don't think would be enough to win the game. We're a combined 5-35 historically against the teams they've lost to this season with 4 of those all-time wins coming against Tech (though we've never played WVU). And my apologies on the mistake, TCU played WVU at home. I still wouldn't count that as a win -- and neither would Vegas. I'm really excited about our team. And I'm proud of what we're doing. I just don't believe it translates to a winning season in the Big XII.
  4. Of course it is. And while I think we'd win every game they've won (SMU, Kansas, SE Louisiana), we certainly wouldn't be favored in any of the games they've lost. Their losses: vs LSU @ Texas Tech @ OU @ Ok State vs Texas @ West Virginia
  5. I suspect because we'd likely be at-best 3-6 if we had played their schedule up to this point.
  6. This. And I hope Houston takes a good look at him because our return game -- and basically every other facet of the game *tears* -- needs the help.
  7. This game worries me because I'm not worried about it. Life is confusing.
  8. If I had to rank the Texas teams right now, I'd look at it like this: There's: 1. Baylor 2. A&M Then there's the rest: 3. Texas/Houston/Tech - in any order, doesn't matter at this point 6. NT/Rice - I'd give us the nod for the win, though I think it would be 5-5 if we played each other 10 times. 8. TCU - only because the offense is so... damned... awful. 9. Texas State/SMU , because who cares. 11. UTSA 12. UTEP
  9. The girlfriend was calling it The Battle of the Big Birds. Which I thought was humorous.
  10. It would be the kind of game with a 10-6 final score. TCU's offense is abysmal. Their defense is probably better than advertise, but our defense is dialed-in right now.Be a fun one, but alas, TCU will not see a bowl game this season.
  11. I think these teams are as evenly matched as any in CUSA and I do think this game could have gone either way. I do have concerns about our offensive production -- 200-something yards isn't going to cut it. But with our defense playing the way it has... we can feel pretty good about the remaining 3 games on the schedule.
  12. Stopping 8 plays in a row inside the red zone = MAN'S GAME. This is a fun team to watch.
  13. I assumed that's what was going on here. Was going to applaud. Honest question: How many signs were up in local-area businesses? Is Denton ever going to support its college?
  14. There's no telling. The Big XII will likely be unable to fill two of their bowl tie-ins. I'm not sure how that affects us. But there are still several games to be played. I will say this: beat Rice and I think we run the table. At that point, we need Tulane to slip up... twice. Which seems less likely given their win over Tulsa this past weekend. Either way, we'll be at 6 wins by Homecoming. After that, too many variables to consider in a conference that's truly wide-open.
  15. Take care of business in Mississippi and that TV game against Rice at home becomes huge. Big enough that I might have to make a trip up to Denton, next week.
  16. Agreed. Team still controls its own destiny, to a large degree. That's new. And novel. And exciting. I just wish we were sitting at 4-2.
  17. If I were the coach, I'm suggesting to our players that we try to win each of the last six games. I think that would be my strategy going into this final stretch of the season.
  18. If we had finished the comeback at Ohio and just played the ball we know we can play against Tulane, we're probably in a really, really good position. There isn't a game left on the schedule we can't win. Can we? Will we?
  19. Still on the hunt for club tix for homecoming. Or some "good" seats on the grown folk side. Thanks in advance.
  20. I may be alone here -- and I've not yet had a chance to re-watch the game -- but I think our defense is pretty danged good; that's McCarney's strong suit. The offense seems to be the issue (accounted for 14 Tulane points, yesterday). This team is better than the record indicates. How much better, I don't know. Here's to a great game next Saturday against a former rival.
  21. This move to CUSA was worth it if for no other reason than being able to watch the team from afar (read: not DFW) which much greater frequency using ACTUAL television (not ESPN the Internet Ocho).
  22. High-scoring affair? I don't see it. Otherwise, I imagine it will be a close game if for no other reason than every other game we play seems to be.
  23. Haha, thank you. I hit up Google after the post. Just don't think it's so strange for a fan to not know who is in what conference with all the shuffling in the past couple years, but the AD... that's a bit ridiculous. So much so, that I'm calling BS on his answer.
  24. Hey no one thought Louisiana would go on the road and all but beat a Top-10 Florida team, last season. Life's weird, man.
