Any chance Skladany starts getting outside interest? I know there's a school in College Station who should be looking for a new coordinator at the end of this season...

UTSA feels the championship fever leading into North Texas
Eagle1855 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This is a true story: I had a dream last night that the score was 20-13 UNT at halftime. Final? 44-19. So if it turns out that way... we're all welcome.- 112 replies

UTSA feels the championship fever leading into North Texas
Eagle1855 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Well my sister knew someone who visited San Antonio two times in the same calendar year and he told her that he had never heard of UTSA.- 112 replies

UTSA feels the championship fever leading into North Texas
Eagle1855 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know enough about UTSA to have an opinion on the school or the program. But I do believe their alleged players will come in to Denton this weekend led by their alleged coaches all jacked up about winning this game for their alleged students at their alleged university and that's something that causes me legitimate concern.- 112 replies

Rice Fan thinks ECU and Marshall would crush UNT

Sorry I shouldn't have left so much to interpretation. "He's not wrong about our shortcomings in the Rice game." -
Rice Fan thinks ECU and Marshall would crush UNT
Eagle1855 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
He's not wrong. Our offense is the only thing standing between us an historic season. Imagine if we'd been able to score points in Georgia? What would that game have looked like? Sure we wouldn't have lost to Tulane nor Ohio. Whether or not our defense can carry the rest of the way and beat an ECU or Marshall remains to be seen. "Crush" is probably a bit of an overstatement, however. -
You've obviously never read the Houston Chronicle. I will say this, however: the Chronicle is very good about propping up the local programs.

UNT Prodigal Son Junior Miller (1310 The Ticket) Comes Home

I'll take all the t-shirt fans and Johnny-come-latelys we can find. -
...and both of them got it done this past week wearing black.

I think they've had some quality losses, too -- if that could be called a thing. 1 point to BYU and 5 to a good, ranked UCF team. But the lion's share of their quality opponents is still on the schedule. We'll know exactly how good (or not) they are after playing @ Louisville and vs Cincinnati in consecutive weeks. Who knows, maybe the Mean Green will slide into the 5 slot -- or better.
-
Same on both. I think being listed as 6th (by the SA paper) is pretty fair. I do think that Texas, A&M, Baylor, Tech, and Houston are all better than us -- right now -- so I see no shame in landing at the top of the rest. Just need to take care of business and finish off this season of reemergence with a C-USA Conf Champ game appearance then we can watch the recruiting wins start rolling in.
-
Ha. Proven otherwise.

This. All day, this. The experience at QB -- and most positions -- is something we'll lack, but should be able to upgrade talent at that position and WR. As far as I'm concerned, the offense is still a work in progress because it's the only things separating us from an at-worst one-loss 2013 season.

Yeah, it looked like a barren wasteland when I arrived in 1999. But uh, the campus looks fantastic these days. It's inspiring just walking around. Almost makes me want to go back to school. Almost.

Steve Patterson is Texas' new athletics director

Same here. Good thoughts, appreciate the discussion. And my apologies if I insinuated otherwise! -

Ditto that. Hell, at this point, I'd settle for being called a Big XII afterthought just four years after playing for National Title. -

And for what it's worth, I hope whoever comes in to take the Texas job has the worst day of his career on August 30, 2014. -

I'm happy your Aggies are doing well, truly. I have a lot of good friends who are great Aggies. Even been to a couple games over the past few years. I'm just telling you the facts related to Texas. It doesn't really matter what you or I say about any of this or our feelings on the subject. Saban has shown interest in the Texas coaching job. Whether or not it amounts to anything more than that is purely conjecture at this point, since Texas currently has a head coach (even though it will likely not have one in the not-too-distant future). It's also little more than fantasy to think that a program like Texas is just going to disappear into the winds of irrelevancy because the Aggies had a pair of good two-loss seasons. But I will agree with you on one of your previous points: there's no reason both programs can't be hugely successful at the same time and what a fun thing that would be for the State of Texas. -
This. The move to CUSA 2.0 has put us in a position where we're at-worst peer programs with Southern Miss, Rice, UTEP and La Tech. That's a world better than anyplace else we've been in the past 30 years.

Looking for Club Seats - Nov 9 UTEP
Eagle1855 replied to Eagle1855's topic in Mean Green Ticket Exchange
Found one pair. Still looking for another pair of club level tix -- to purchase from someone -- if anyone can't use them. I realize this is a long shot at this point, but thank you all the same! -

Eagle1855 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
The Aggies are an ineligible Johnny Manziel away from being an at-best .500 football team and an afterthought in the college football landscape. And it also doesn't bode well for the future of said program if Sumlin ends up in Los Angeles next season. Related to the topic at hand, Mack's gone. It's already in the works. The hiring of Patterson over Luck had nothing to do with Mack Brown. Patterson blew them away in the interview process. He's an alum. Former GM. He's the ultimate CEO type of AD, which is what a program like UT needs. -

Pulling for UTSA to beat Tulane in Alamodome Sat.

Ugh. I hope not. Count me in the camp of complete indifference towards all things UTSA.
