  1. When speaking about groups of people, I find it's best to find one small part of a whole and then paint the rest with the broadest brush possible.
  2. Seriously though, I realize you can't just pull out numbers and say "this is the one thing that caused ____." We just don't win games when we can't run the ball. That was really the point of my post. I understand that completion percentage, types of plays, when they are called, YPC, etc all factor in. As do turnovers and field position. It's far more complex than any single number.
  3. Why does the Hawaii Bowl even exist (other than to provide the U of Hawaii an additional home game)? It's not a premier bowl and it costs fans an arm and a leg to attend with virtually no lead time to plan a trip.
  4. I do. Thank you. It wasn't something I had a lot of time to spend working on. Sorry it wasn't perfect.
  5. I didn't say they were the smartest fan base. They just travel -- and party -- well. I don't imagine Baylor ends up in the Cotton Bowl unless they lose to Texas and OU beats OK State.
  6. If I'm the Cotton Bowl, I'm taking LSU.
  7. Is there any reason why the HOD bowl *wouldn't* take us? I mean, what better option exists?
  8. Watching us destroy Tulsa (while seeing Rice go on to win as Marshall beat ECU) got me thinking about what could have been and why it wasn't. I'll say that I think that if we end up in the HOD bowl and have a HUGE showing by students, fans, and alumni, the UTSA loss may end up being a blessing in disguise as it will allow us to build a lot of buzz locally and state-wide -- and offer easy travel for recruits -- but I digress. It seems we are a better team when we run the ball more. I realize this is an obvious statement, but I was surprised to see how much better when I looked at the respective games. Against UTSA we attempted to throw the ball 46 times and only attempted to run it 28. - Loss Against Tulane, we threw the ball 42 times, ran it 20. - Loss Against Rice, we threw the ball 13 times, ran it 43. - Win Against Tulsa, we threw the ball 26 times and ran it 50. - Win I realize the game plan is different for each opposing defense (and UTSA is probably a better defense -- and certainly a better offense -- than Tulsa), but given the fact that a single touchdown would have tied UTSA's effort, makes you wonder if we abandoned our strength too soon and relied too heavily on our weakness. It's all moot now. And I'm not a football coach or a football "mind"... just thought it interesting.
  9. Yeah, and the idiot wasn't even an alum, was he? Which is probably the case for most of these internet idiots going after a STUDENT kicker. I tend to agree with Clay Travis' take on Bama fans: 15% of their fans -- the actual students and alums -- are mostly embarrassed by the 85% who aren't.
  10. Ha, probably true. I don't care a single bit about Texas State, but if that happened, I'd welcome it. Imagine a sold-out Cotton Bowl filled with UNT and Texas State alums? That would be a blast. Plus, we'd thrash them.
  11. I imagine UTSA would bring a lot of fans to whichever bowl they end up in. The excitement surrounding an upstart FBS programs making a bowl game in their 2nd/3rd years in the grownup league must be immense. Also, by my math, it's possible only two of the 12 Texas FBS programs won't be "eligible" for a bowl -- UTEP and TCU (assuming SMU pulls off an upset in their final two games).
  12. I am definitely not going to the Hawaii Bowl.
  13. I'm okay with it. I wanted to play in it, but I honestly don't think anyone in the West is going to put up much of a game against ECU in their place. This team is still in position to win 9 games this season (with a bowl win) and that's something to be excited about heading into the off-season. We aren't "there" yet -- but we're not far.
  14. My "it's too late to come back" bit fell short. I thought it would work. Alas. T'was not to be. Still proud of this team and proud to be Mean Green.
  15. Agreed. I understand the points on the board is the "right" call, but it looked like a concession.
  16. 11 points is insurmountable. No one in the history of college football has come back from such a deficit.
  17. It's too late.
  18. Agreed. Too bad. No way this offense comes back now.
  19. Yeah, we're done. This team's showed absolutely nothing in this game. Good season all the same. But offense isn't there and it's held the team back in every loss.
  20. He's 10-18, averaging 3.2 yards per pass attempt.
  21. BLAH. Can't believe I'm sitting here watching a gamecast feed.
  22. Is this going to give my computer AIDS?
  23. When It's all said and done, I'll have watched more UNT games on TV in Houston this season than the previous decade combined. So that's exciting.
  24. I think he's happy at UNT. You can't change people's perceptions of a program overnight. But winning the conference in the first season of membership will go a long, long way. There's still that matter of hundreds of thousands of alum within an hour's drive of Denton...
  25. Hey I'm with you! Just saying, this team plays very disciplined, fundamental ball. And every person I've had the chance of introducing the team to this season -- thanks to the many games on TV -- has said the same. Guessing other programs have taken notice, too.
