Prediction: UNT vs. Minnesota in Heart of Dallas Bowl
Eagle1855 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
It's not. But honestly, most of the SEC West would go undefeated with Marshall's schedule. If they go undefeated, it's a nice story. That's it. If we had a 16-team playoff, they'd have a very strong case for inclusion. But no one on this board really believes an undefeated Marshall team is the fourth-best team in the country, based on the schedule they are rolling out. -
Prediction: UNT vs. Minnesota in Heart of Dallas Bowl

So excited we accepted a bid to play in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Does anyone know how much parking at the Cotton Bowl costs? -
Where we will be hard pressed to better DT

Or with a coach who believed in defense. Or play calls that work on the Div 1 level. -
Where we will be hard pressed to better DT
Eagle1855 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Saying DT is the second-best QB in NT history isn't saying a whole hell of a lot, in the context of FBS football. We haven't exactly been UH, Texas Tech or even UTEP, when it comes to the level of QB play in Denton. That said, I am thankful for the successful season DT helped orchestrate, last season, and his time as a member of our program. I do think we'll be just fine once these "new" guys get some games under their belts -- especially with the relative comfort afforded by a veteran O-line. -
Agreed. And it's possible that's what's going on here....

This is a fact. The only people who care about SMU football are UNT fans.- 30 replies

Saw that Wisconsin isn't announcing their starting QB for the opener with LSU until game-time. So there may not be much urgency on Mac's part to get a name out there. I'm not really sure what advantage there is to naming one early anyways, other than some possible psychological benefit and how they prepare.

Old School Approach does big things @UNT, aka Stanford of C-USA

...on any front. I'll take it. I love this style of play. Is and always be my favorite brand of football.- 8 replies

Ah yes, the sneaky, unfamiliar QB play of unproven NT QB's. That will be our Trojan Horse to victory!
-
Cool! More bulletin board material for Coach Mac and the boys.

Oh good! Guys looking over their shoulder, worrying with every throw if that's going to be the one that gets them pulled for the next series. Worked famously for Mack Brown, over the past four years.
-
If either of these guys can throw a football half as well as SRV played the guitar, we're in for an historic season. I suspect that is not the case, however.

DC quotes Mac on UNT QB: "McNulty...the guy to beat"
Eagle1855 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't guess this will come as much of a surprise. Though I was excited about the idea of having a prototypical QB back there for once. -
Ranking of Most Anticipated Mean Green Football Games
Eagle1855 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
For me, it's as follows: 1. Texas 2. Rice 3. UTSA 4. SMU Texas, because it signals the start of the 2014 and I want to see an upset. Rice and UTSA, conference-mates, peer schools in Texas that will be key games if we are to compete in the West. I've dropped SMU below these because I truly feel complete ambivalence towards their program, though I do believe it will be a good gauge of where our program is.- 30 replies

I can appreciate that, but I think that if 30% of our attendance in a big game (one of just 6 home games all year) depends entirely on the weather, we have bigger problems at UNT.

Does the temperature really make that big of a difference to someone walking out of their house at 10am to go to a ball game?

Prove it.

Is there a tailgate in Austin where everyone is welcome?
Eagle1855 replied to Cr1028's topic in Mean Green Football
If you get a large Styrofoam cup (Route 44-sized) w/ ice from a convenient store, fill it with half Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka and half lemonade, replace lid and straw -- the entire world becomes your tailgate. -
Yeah, we certainly wouldn't want any help in ours. We seem to be fairly incapable on our own.
-
Yup. It's why we can't make it. 2:30 or even 6pm (ah, the Sunbelt days) and it's a likely sell-out. I do think we'll do better than 23k.
-
At an average of 320lbs, is this the biggest O-line we've had in some time?
-
This. FINALLY.

The font Marshall uses for "The Herd" is total clown-shoes. Other than that, the all green is a good look. I'll also agree that the throwback Uni was our best look of the season. UTSA's helmet wins. Why we can't get a solid green helmet with the eagle logo is something I'll never understand. It would make our all-green (or green with white pants) look like one of the better classic looks in the NCAA.
