  1. I hope for this as well. However, he may be tentative about running. For many reasons. But also because his coach dropped this on him in one of their first sit-downs: Also could be good news for the Mean Green. Stay back there in the pocket, no need to come out here -- we'll come to you.
  2. This is true. I received several texts from friends all over the college football rooting landscape saying "did you see your boys are tied with Georgia?" I am hoping for some "how drunk are you right now" messages after a win in Austin on Saturday. To which I will say "v2kdm;~!"
  3. I mean, they've beaten us by a combined score of 140-something to 7 the last 3 games we've played against them. That they'd even talk trash at all makes me feel like we've made some upward moves in the college football world.
  4. I think someone did in the comments....
  5. I assume the guy didn't look at either schedule and just thought "eh, UNT should finish like this... and Indiana like that..." and presto, a prediction.
  6. Nah, I'm right there with you. We have a prototypically-sized legit D-1 passer at NT -- and he's starting. It's exciting.
  7. Agreed. A&M is just doing what A&M should have been doing all along. They have the second-largest athletics budget in one of the most fertile recruiting states in the country. Somehow Florida, Miami and FSU all managed to be good at the same time. I imagine Texas, A&M and Baylor can swing it, too. And college football will be better for it.
  8. I think this is mostly wishful thinking on your part. Especially the last bit.
  9. Yeah, I mean the kid chose to come to NT to play QB for his dad instead of accepting a scholarship offer to play at the same program where his dad played -- the place where he publicly stated he always dreamed of playing. Now he is employed by said program and hopes they have a successful first outing of the 2014 season. What a dick, right?
  10. I wouldn't want our guys to say anything different if the situation were reversed. All business. That said, UT's front seven will be the toughest challenge our guys face all year. I cannot wait to see the matchup.
  11. If the game goes the way I expect it to go, I suspect we'll see both QB's.
  12. Without playing any games, Baylor is probably a clear cut above the rest. As Emmitt said, A&M doesn't play defense and I think it's rare to lose three first-round draft picks on offense and improve. The wild card of this lot is TCU, who I think could be anywhere from #2 to #9 on this list, by season's end.
  13. I said it before and I'm even more certain of it now: This should be the UNT helmet forevermore
  14. Lord, that site has so many ads I don't even know what just happened to my screen.
  15. The unofficial slogan of 100 years of UNT football.
  16. If he's the "clear" #2, then there's a tremendous chasm between the #1 and the #3 QB's on the Longhorn's roster. Because Ash is a decidedly better QB than Swoopes. I believe Ash's return made this game a much greater challenge for us. So here's to getting after him hard and fast, early. And maybe we'll see Swoopes take some snaps.
  17. This was one of the biggest gut-punches of a game I've attended. Miserable weather. Miserable ending.
  18. Agreed. And it's very UNT of me, but I kind of expect to be let down. Seems like every time we get a chance to take that next step, something goes wrong. I am hoping, however, that I am as wrong as ever.
  19. Also UTSA at UH as they open their new stadium is another one to keep your eye on. And Rice at A&M is a bigger deal, in my mind, than Rice at Notre Dame. Remember how well A&M (didn't) play with Johnny out the first half of last year's game?
  20. Based on this information, the only logical thing for the Big XII to do is to grab UNT and UH and call it a day. GAME SET MATCH, CFB WORLD.
  21. I'm actually surprised by several things, related to the alumni base map: 1) That A&M has the second-largest alumni base in D/FW. 2) That OU didn't crack the top 5 in D/FW. 3) That Rice's alumni base made the top 5 in Houston. 4) That LSU didn't make the top 5 in Houston.
  22. Agreed. If we were talking about La Tech, for example, who has games @OU and @Auburn, I'd have taken a different position.
  23. If we get more than 100 yards on the ground against Texas, I'll be thrilled - and we'll have a fightin' chance. That will be their #1 priority: Shutting down the run to force an inexperienced QB to throw the ball, make mistakes. It's an easy gamble, from their perspective, because the odds of one of our QB's having a banner debut are long.
