  1. ABSURD
  2. I agree. but at some point, dont you get fed up with losing the first 4 games of the season and winning the last 7? When is it OK to expect more than winning the worst (and make no mistake about it, we are the WORST) conference in the nation and expect to compete on a higher level? I agree with the topic of this thread... we would have had our hands FULL with SHSU or Texas State. That is unacceptable to me. And its not like we are improving... we are losing by larger and larger margins. Im going to wait it out this season, i will chalk it up to rebuilding. And my commitment to NT does not waver with Ls and Ws, but at some point, you get frustrated with getting beat THIS BAD. I hope this is a case of a new team getting used to playing together more than a glimpse of what is to come.
  3. on the bright side, we improved by 5 points. At this rate of improvement, we will score 27 points against LSU. Of course it really wont matter if the defense gives up 54 points a game. We have been outscored 115-23 in our first three games. I bet the guy who wrote/authorized the article at USA Today is really catching hell right now. The nations leading rushers combined for a mind boggling 88 yards... Bottom 10 here we come. Rock bottom, we'll see you in a few more weeks. On the flip side, im still gonna go to as many games as I can because I love NT football, and its a blast! Oh and thank GOD we dont have to play SHSU or Texas State..
  4. I think we too are staying behind on the NW side here in Houston. Looks like its going to move east of Houston closer to Louisiana. Helped my parents board up their house today, so we'll see! Doesnt look like it will be easy to get out of the city anyways... my sister left for Austin this morning at 1am... well its 3pm right now and they arent even there yet... not even close! Going on 14 hours... Prayers with everyone else who is/will be affected by this storm!
  5. Is this the part where we talk about how we want all the Texas teams to fail so that we can get all their recruits? whatever.... I will always pull for the Texas team in a football game... its a pride in my state. And I will root for NT against each of those teams should they play. We shouldnt need other teams to be "that" bad for us to be "that "good. If we build a quality program, the recruits will come... there is hardly a shortage of talent in this state alone, much less the nation (this is not to say we do not have talented players, so please lets dont take this down that road). The problem is getting them to come here. We are a different school than SMU than TCU than Baylor than Texas, etc... Texas A&M and UT could go 2-10 and still out recruit us Build a presence in Houston. That would be one of the best things NT could do for any of their athletic programs...
  6. yeah thank goodness my degree isnt from there, id NEVER find a job and now their football team sucks? when it rains it pours...
  7. And rightly so, IMO... we have been AWFUL as a conference thus far! Amazed we arent on the waiting list.. and where is Arkansas?
  8. We desperately need balance! Maybe the "effective offense" fairy will visit the team before Saturday...
  9. personally i find this loss to be far worse than any we have had in the modern era of NT football. It sickens me. But whats the point of beating a dead horse? Time to get back up and get going, we've got a game this weekend. You would think DD would want his boys ready for the show down with his former school. You would think if there was an OOC game he would want to be well-prepared for, this is the one. Of course, I have found myself saying "you would think.." about alot of things at NT. But I guess once again I'll reserve judgement til I see the score Saturday. Who knows, maybe we will be suprised, I mean at this point, my expectations are fairly low, so anything above 'nothing' is bonus in OOC play. Lets get the young guys reps, put up some points, and find a QB.
  10. Couldnt agree more with everyone... it was one of the best gameday atmospheres I have ever experienced at NT... alot of people I talked to said the same thing. Truly was a blast, well, until the game began. I really hope attendance wont take a huge dive after this game, though I feel it inevitably will. Best way to get fans in the seats is to win games. And we have a chance to do that again next weekend. Unfortunately, this was the one game I thought we would win OOC. Attendance for the Troy game will have alot to do with how well the University promotes this game. And after this set back, its an even larger uphill battle. This loss is a big blow to morale. Usually our blow outs are away. Also I have one ticket in the D section I will be unable to use for the Troy game (as I now live in Houston), so if anyone needs one, please send me a message.
  11. I believe the visiting team's conference refs officiate non conference matchups.. ive seen it a couple times this year
  12. looks great in person too! had fun drinking some beers with you guys this weekend!
  13. actually houston was # 1 (and I believe it), dallas # 6, san antonio was # 10, el paso at # 11, and ft worth at #14 among the fattest sities in the US. New Orleans was number 7 and the only Louisiana city on the top 25 list, so i wouldnt throw stones... 25 fattest cities Although this has little to do with the actual topic...
  14. UNTSIG- too many words in your response...tired head at work but to anything you say, whether I agree or not, my response is "Figures, he lives in L.A." hope alls well in LA-LA land! Are you coming in for Homecoming?
  15. Not sure if its been posted but... NO Bowl in Lafayette NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Bowl may have a bit more Cajun flavor this year. With the Superdome awaiting massive repairs and New Orleans projected to be cleaning up from Hurricane Katrina for months, the December bowl may move to Lafayette, La., said executive director Billy Ferrante of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation. "We have had some very preliminary talks with the folks at Louisiana-Lafayette and our first choice is to keep the game in Louisiana," he said. "Hopefully we will have a decision wrapped up in a couple of weeks." The five-year old bowl game matches the champion of the New Orleans-based Sun Belt Conference with a team from Conference USA. Louisiana-Lafayette is a Sun Belt member. This year's game is scheduled for Dec. 20. Sun Belt commissioner Wright Waters said his office and C-USA had been prepared to take over operating the game this year if the Sports Foundation proved unable to but applauded Ferrante's decision. "That's what's best for everyone," Waters said. "It's good to know that the Sports Foundation is up and running. We're very interested in hearing their plan, but we'll do whatever we can to make this work." And if the game had to be moved, Lafayette seemed like a good choice to Waters. "First off, it's one of our conference members," he said. "And beyond that, Lafayette is a city with plenty of amenities to entertain the teams and fans." What happens to the bowl beyond this year depends on the restoration of the Superdome, which is expected to take at least a year if it's done at all. "This is the Sports Foundation's signature event," he said. "And we want to be part of the rebuilding of New Orleans. It may mean we have to relocate some of our other events around the state in the coming year, but we're going to stick around." Waters has relocated the Sun Belt offices to Tuscaloosa, Ala., along with some of the other conference staff members. He intends to inspect the conference offices in the Pan-American Life Building next week but is uncertain when the league might move back to New Orleans.
  16. Ha, Id say losing to SMU qualifies... Yes, Herbie was commenting on it and he had a legitimate point. At first I thought maybe it was just some vendetta againt Texas teams after his beloved Buckeyes got beat, but after seeing the play again, UTAH got robbed. Not the play Id want to decide a game
  17. agreed! I want one Oh and I think the sticker looks great too.
  18. flying up from H-town, cause it was cheaper than driving Gonna drag as many apathetic Dallasites to the game as I can! Should be good for at least 3
  19. not necessarily, before memphis game in 2003 we recieved a few top 25 votes and we were what 7-3, 8-3? I think 11-1 puts in the top 25. Thats about it
  20. While your post makes me feel warm and fuzzy, and I agree with the general sentiment touching as it was, pissing on walls is just alot funnier!
  21. never been a football coach so I dont know how often "assignment errors" occur, but that number seems pretty high. I assume it can largely be crdited to the first game of the season and youth on defense?
  22. I see you are under the assumption logic plays a role in UNT promotions...
  23. probably not. OU isnt even playing like a top 25 team. And after they get their butts kicked at UCLA, they wont even be ranked. Now, if we are undefeated going into the LSU game, yes, i think we might see some top 25 love, or at least a few votes. We need to beat some teams that arent ranked in the bottom 20, IMO.
  24. If I were Stoops, I think I would be asking, "what in the hell were you celebrating at a "party" after we just got embarassed on national television"
