Sports Network Preview - UNT/FIU Game
Eagle1855 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
If we lose to FIU, I almost expect DDs resignation. Talk about rock bottom That being said, I'll go with 20-14 in a closer-than-we-should-ever-play-a-school-like-FIU game -
Thanks for making my next point: Put a winning product on the field and people will go see it... what a novel concept... anybody in the Athletic department listening? The quickest way to put butts in the seats/build interest in a program (which in turn brings in CASH) is to win! Build a top 25 or even top 50 football and/or basketball program and the attendance problems will take care of themselves at a school with 32k students (IMO). Denton is a bigger sports town than many would have you believe, people just need something to be excited about. Anyways, rant completed. great job ladies! Hope yall keep the streak going!

like wise, got 3 of them i cant use now..if you need one, send me a pm we can work something out!
-
No he wont. He promised his grandmother he would finish school, it was the most important thing to her.
-
and he's been doing pretty well for them... he would have been a hell of a pick up for us. For what its worth, our recievers could stand to take something for the dropsies bug that seemed to be going around tuesday night. I think Meager might be OK once he calms down and gets comfortable in the pocket (which will never happen if the O-line doesnt give him some time). Alot of his passes were overthrown, which probably had alot to do with being overly excited.

HAHA this thread has actually turned into one of the funnier threads of the week after turning from one of the most mindnumbing ive seen in a while... Comback thread of the week nominee!

what if the winner of the conference had a losing record, how crazy would that be? Oh... wait...

Tailgaters Bring Time Honored Tradition
Eagle1855 replied to PerryG2480's topic in Mean Green Football
typical independents blaming the typical frats for their typical behavior blah blah blah.. *YAWN* Adler's right on. Its just some guy trying to sound like Billy Bad-A in front of the other morons that sit outside during the game. Its not a representation of all greeks. I noticed a huge number of greeks in the game during the Tulsa blowout. I also noticed leaders of those organizations hollering at people to go in to the game as it started. Lets not go over overboard and start crucifying people over one dil's moment to shine. -
when was the last time rotating QB's actually worked for a college football program?
-
Really, i think Vince young and Reggie McNeal are some of the most exciting players to watch in CFB... I love watching the games they play for that reason. I think with Reggies speed, he is more likely to play CB or Safety in the NFL. VY may be a QB (remember he still has ANOTHER season to develop as a QB), but may go the route of TE or WR... who knows. I think Marcus Vick is going to surpass all of them as a multidimensional player... he is freakishly similar to his brother and has been nothing short of impressive so far this season. I wish NT could pull in a QB like that, maybe one like Texas States QB... I was really impressed by his play @ Pyle field This thread has officially been jacked however, so Im signing off.

No, its irrelevant how he throws if he gets the ball there. He threw for 270 on OSU. Its unorthodox, he throws picks more than you would like. I think alot of that comes from him trying to make a big play on every play. It can be controlled. Ok, fair enough. Reggie has had his fair share as well. 77-0 OU. Countless games against Texas, etc... See above. 270 yards passing, 70+ rushing against a great defense. Not sure how you measure greatness. And this comes from someone defending a QB who spends half his time in the fetal position. He's lost 2 games as a starter over the past 3 years... You point out 1 game where he has been brilliant , 4 years ago. I will give you that one. He lost, it doesnt really matter. The game wasnt even close. Typical aggy logic (or lack of). I dont even know how to respond to this.

touchy day on the board, eh?

at this point, i think i will just take a "successful" season which to me would include a win on the road spoiling a pretty lousy La Tech teams' homecoming, keeping within 35 points of LSU (and not getting beaten with a beer bottle while attending the game), and wins at home the rest of the year thus retaining a fan base that isnt completely demoralized. If the conference shakes out and we are on top...again... god help the poor souls in the sun belt... they will NEVER win it as long as we are in it. This is everyone else' year. I have a feeling we will be a much-improved team next year. We have lost our only 2 conferece losses by a combined 5 points, all is not lost. Oh and if MTSU had another losing season, that would make me laugh as well.

LSU game - who's going and where do you plan
Eagle1855 replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
I think i will stay in Vicksburg MS... its 160 miles away, but I have family there so I shall stay for free! Plus, I was hesitant to stay in Baton Rouge due to the hurricane situation (although I realize this in no way helps you out or answers the question originally posted in the thread) -

UNT offense continues to look anemic

so true -
When a QB has more than a few terrible games, it isnt really considered "extremely unusual". I would hardly call him the MOST talented multi dimensional QB. I will take Marcus Vick or Vince Young over Reggie McNeal ANY DAY. go watch a highlight reel of one of those two then get back to me. And no , I dont want to hear about how Vince Youngs unorthodox delivery, etc isnt as good as Reggie (tho VY did beat Ohio State with his arm if you caught that game). Fact is, Marcus Vick and Vince Young win. Reggie doesnt. You can aggy-ize it all you want, but the numbers and the big games they have (or in the case of McNeal, "havent") won tell the truth. Reggie is a great athlete, but his bang to hype ratio is out of wack. Oh and I think Fran has been a great disappointment for A&M. Good thing Ok State sucks so much this year... for once Baylor wont be last in the south. Hell they may even go to a bowl game. I still contend that Baylor shouldnt even BE in the Big 12, so you gotta feel bad for them. TCU or Houston were far better suited for the Big 12, but you know the way of politics (ever noticed there are no schools in big conferences in the two hottest recruiting spots in Texas, Dallas and Houston? Coincidence? Or is it just the way Texas and A&M wanted it...) Hard to believe Hayden Fry tried to get us in the SWC... one can only imagine where we might be today had that come to fruition. Ahh... oh well, back to Sun Belt hell...

Im sorry I didnt get to meet everyone, we couldnt find a spot in the bar so ended up at a table next to it... saw a few people in green but we all came straight from work in our work attire some guy standing near was laughing at people enjoying the game talking about how someone cheering for NT must be easily ammused... of course he negated that statement once he let out he graduated from SFA. Then there was the canadian guy who kept coming by asking if my team had scored a touchdown yet after he asked what division of college football it was that was on.... I like champps though, just would have liked to have some game sound on. Im indifferent to either place as a watching locatin, just want some sound!

Sloppy Play Leads To Rare Sun Belt Loss
Eagle1855 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
If it had to come to any team in the sun belt, Im glad it was Troy. At least Troy has had some national respect. Better than losing to U La Pick Em or F_U. Of course this still sucks, but hey, we suck and we still beat MTSU. Thats gotta burn the Blue Raiders up. Looking for a bright side... -
NT has always had discipline problems. Thats coaching.
-
These are the two things that bugged me most about the game. I wanted to see him slapping some helmets, grabbing a face mask, getting his team fired up to go get the ball when the offense turned it over... to open up some holes... anything! The personal fouls are just STUPID. Also I hope that as Meager matures this year, we will see him assume a role as a leader on the team. I didnt see him trying to pump up the offense or act like they even had a chance of winning the game. I did however watch him show how upset he was after every drive that ending in a pick/3 and out/fumble as he yanked his helmet off in frustration on the sidelines. He didnt look like a leader to me, maybe everyone else saw something I didnt.
-
Hope its at Champps because I am going to be there in about 45 minutes... and Im bringing a Sooner and a Longhorn to watch it with me... dont let me down NT!

Depends, do you have any fish net stockings and/or a green mini skirt?
