I think it is hard to really see what people want with that type of survey. From the site: Doesnt mean people think it isnt important, rather it could just mean that they might value "academic quality" over "athletics". And I would tend to agree. I dont think its one or the other, which is why I dont know how effective such a poll can be. Many of these "ideals" or "goals" are interrelated.

We also aren't Houston, UTEP, A&M, Tech, TCU, SMU, Texas State, or Baylor. Who cares about UT. There are probably only 10 teams in the nation that compare as an athletic department, as a football team, prestige, etc to UT. UT is not representative of the norm. The SunBelt sucks. There are at least 8 teams in the state of Texas alone that would beat us this year and all of those teams would be dissappointed/embarrassed to lose to a SBC team. Yeah winning 26 conference games in a row is impressive. Nobody discounts that, but you have to take into account the level of competition. I could go to the YMCA and beat the hell out of a 10 year old in a pick up game of basketball... and I bet I could do it 26 times in a row. So what? NT is not a small school. Its a big state school that appears to be trying to get rid of its small-time mentality. Why should that bother you? Why is it not OK to expect more? I should also tell you that Fresno State isnt USC... im sure you knew that already (since you knew UNT wasnt UT), but they gave them all they could. I dont think its too much to ask for similar showings against anyone else in our state. Fresno is in the WAC... not exactly the SEC either.

We should never lose a game to a sun belt team. just my opinion This isnt the SEC folks, its a half step above 1AA

I'll start off with a dead horse and say, I dont understand why we wouldnt do some sort of spirit rally at the BBall game and build support for both programs SIMULTANEOUSLY, but thats just me. I hate that we are competing with ourselves for fans. I might make it if I can get out of this city around 3pm, boss permitting

Agreed. Maybe we should put a green eagle on a black helmet if baylor is going to continue to wear green helmets. (tho Id like to see the same green helmet with a white eagle). And why wouldnt they? they seem to enjoy "aquiring" our other traditions, such as the battle flag. Idiots. Oh, sorry for jacking the thread, just read back to the original post and realize it has nothing to do with what I am typing. We will know tomorrow night around 7pm if DD has mailed it in.

I dont want to LOOSE or LOSE I think it is important that we win these last two games. Especially since they are at home, and one of them is homecoming! This means alot to have a big showing for our fans so we have a good turnout for our opener next year, IMO. I want to see progress. I assume there is method to DD's gameplan. 0-5 at home is embarassing

And the FBI started montioring this thread about 5 minutes ago!

ha, well I tried things like "eagle" or "meangreen"... I guess they really know how to make up a password over there. If its not any those, I dont know what it could be, and I consider it "uncrackable".

I dont call scoring 3 points and losing by 53 a "decent" game by any standards. Maybe if we rotate the QB's we will see alot more production, i mean, it has worked for our RB's, right?
-
yes. A better question is why are these schools already lining up classes with a several 3 star recruits (or better) and have verbal commitments, while we have 0. Houston Baylor SMU UTEP TCU
-
I guess DD was right, looks like Carson Coffman has garnered interest from some "big time" programs... Wisconsin, UCLA, and Iowa... not bad company
-
now all it needs is a few 'points' under the part that says "home"

LaMonroe interesting blast of NT's football
Eagle1855 replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
ahh so its not the losing of the football games that keeps you out of a bowl game, rather it is adjusting your schedule so that NT can get paaaaiiiid! Heres a thought, win your games and you wont have to worry about not going to the bowl. We did it for 4 straight years (and had to adjust our schedule a time or two), Im sure you guys can handle it once. Cant say I wish your team luck this weekend (with any thread of sincerity), but I do hope you guys have a good time at the game and enjoy your time in Denton! -
Man those were some fun games to watch

We're gonna lose. And if/when we do, we will be well on our way to going 0-5 for home games this year, which as an alum, I feel is unacceptable. That being said, sometimes the most dangerous teams to play are the ones with nothing to lose. NT will be that team. UL-whatever has a conference championship on the line. Im hoping for the best but I expect very little more than what we have seen thus far: ULM 34, NT 19 It would also be nice to come out of the gates playing a football game, versus trying to play catch-up in the 2nd half.

Cant say I have watched alot of UL-Anywhere this year, what positions specifically would they be referring to? -
Bet the Fightin AGS would be willing to trade him back

Yes I think they upset a ranked Maryland team... it was the year of the MAC, as they called it as there were a couple MAC team that upset ranked opponents in one week, if im not mistaken.. It was 2003: NIU Schedule: Maryland - W Tennessee Tech - W @ Bama - W Iowa State - W Ohio - W @ Cent Mich - W West Mich - W @ BG - L Ball State - W @ Buff - W @ Toledo - L Eaast Mich - W (10-2 record)

Thats last weeks bottom ten list

Well I cant figure it out..

Agreed. While I have been a proponent for us moving forward without DD, there is some anxiety in who we could bring in. That is why I have said that for us to jump to the next level, the university has to be willing to go for it and bring in the right person, even if it costs a little more, otherwise this is a waste of time. With DD, at least we know what we get. Its definately a roll of the dice, but sometimes teams come up big, and I think we could. We have created an environment where someone could really thrive. Of course, there are teams you could point out that support and contradict this. Syracuse, Nebraska, A&M etc... they are probably scratching heads right now. Texas, UTEP, OU, TCU, etc have done well since hiring their new coaches. How bout bringing in ole Rick Neuheisel? haha, wouldn't that be fun... what is it they say, any PR is good PR?
-
Well I agree with you here, but in all fairness we have a pretty good schedule next year as well. We should get the Middle-of-Tennessee-Slack-Jaws at home, then we also play Tulsa, SMU and La Tech in our OOC. Plus we get to go hang out in Austin for our opener, and I will take that over Baton Rouge, Hell any day.

Couple things: Florida is in the SEC. Conference officials dont read these boards, and if they do, they are not considered valuable research tools for deciding whether or not to invite a school to said conference. Lifer's post = game...set...match. End of thread, as it invalidates the rest of the original topic posters' argument by pointing out the contradiction and hypocrisy. Denver has great point: this is tame compared to the flack he would be catching at a more "visible" program. People on this board arent BS, however a case could be made for people posting comments that say they are... when someone has a differing opinion from yourself in life, do you always resort to, "well you are a BS salesman/doctor/teacher/yadda yadda"? Oh, and can something really "halfway smell like urine"?

Sun Belt Conference NO Bowl Representative
Eagle1855 replied to DeepGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I may go if its ULL and UH... would be a great draw from both teams and Lafayette isnt too far from here
