  1. This. I don't want a gimmicky college education. I want an affordable one, but don't need gimmicks.
  2. The University of Nice Try.
  3. I'll be in SA in November. And I've definitely got a bill for the flyover, should this all come to fruition.
  4. Yes, as a thinking human, I think it's insane. As a sports fan(atic), yes, because we're usually on the losing end of it.
  5. probably just showed up in his LinkedIn feed and he thought "ah, what the hell..."
  6. We had a bad game against La Tech. The offense's inability to do anything eventually broke the defense (same song, different dance). I don't really care about the La Tech game. I'm more interested in what will happen against IU and on the road against UAB. If the offense is indeed better with the DW -- and signs point towards yes -- then getting first downs and maintaining drives (not going three and out) will at the very least improve the field position game -- and all of this helps out the defense.
  7. Surely no one is surprised that parents root for and defend their kids first and foremost.
  8. YOU'RE GONNA EAT ALL THESE WORDS SO HARD WHEN WE BEAT INDIANA 40-8.
  9. Aren't these sorts of things usually more organic?
  10. Ditto. Too bad. Though I've got Kansas on about 25 channels.
  11. This is a really, really bad football team. But it's fun all the same. Looking forward to Indiana. Wish we'd started the season with Williams. Hindsight, of course, being 20/20.
  12. I'd guess like four. Four people. Nobody in a dorm room has a place to store groceries. Most fraternity and sorority members have cars -- or people who can take them somewhere (and further, no one wants to put anything inside a fraternity house 'fridge). And I'd guess a very small number of people live off campus without any sort of transportation. So, four. Four people is my guess as to the number of students who will be greatly impacted by the closing of this grocery store.
  13. It happens everywhere. Whether or not it is right or wrong is a matter of debate. But it's far from a UNT-only problem and I would hope people would recognize that a great UNT is good for all of Denton.
  14. I always thought that Sack n Save was an unfortunate business to have so close to the university's main entrance. "And on the right, you'll see... okay don't look at that... if you'll wait just a second it gets a lot better, you see, we have a Gateway Center over here...." Taco C? Say it ain't SO! I remember when they built it. On the day it opened the mayor declared it Taco Cabana Day in Denton.
  15. I attended the last game we played against them. My how the time does fly by. Anyhow, I think it's hard to start anew mid-season with a coaching change over. Thus, I'll be disappointed if we don't score 56 points in this one. And I'll be really disappointed if they score more than 7.
  16. Which one, the 11-2 record where they housed OU or the 9-4 one that matches our best effort, ever?
  17. Eh, Johnny Manziel won a Heisman doing that very thing.
  18. It's this. It's all this. It's only this. The offense is the ONLY thing holding this team back from a great season.
  19. A cotton white-out actually makes a lot of sense. a black-out is just unintended, poorly-considered comedic gold.
  20. If he wants to set up shop in Houston, I've got people who are interested.
  21. It's just a guy that goes around town not putting up posters.
  22. To your last point, I understand that, and I'm inclined to agree with it with the benefit of hindsight. To the first part that I highlighted, A&M wasn't/isn't exactly a slouch with respects to resources. In fact, I'd say from 1996-2011, no program in the state did less with more than A&M. Sure, Mack Brown could have done more... and I would guess most Longhorns will agree with that. But take a look at some questionable hires made by USC, Alabama (yes, Alabama was a middle-of-the-road football team until 2007), Michigan, Notre Dame, et al. which were made throughout his tenure and you'll see that Mack Brown was far from bad...or even average. He just wasn't Saban or Meyer when it came to game day. And Texas wanted a Saban or Meyer to go with their ridiculous budget. That's why I think, objectively speaking, he wouldn't be the worst SMU could do. Personally, if I'm SMU, I think I'd go a different, younger route. From the outside, that program just seems old, tired, and dead.
